    I have a Lutron RA2 system installed in my home in Brooklyn. What a nightmare. I have wasted so much time with this system, and it is still not working properly. I don't know why you'd want to get this system in the age of Alexa and Google home. I've spent a ton of money $3,000 to $4,000 to get people here to set up it right (builder had installed it) and it's still not working (that is NOT the cost of the system, that is JUST THE COST to fix it). Insane really. My belief is this company may have made sense a decade ago but now is a nightmare. Their supply chain to reps is not oriented or incentivized to solve problems. I feel a need to warn others.

      Hi Greg! Thank you so much for your message! I am so sorry to hear about your experience and I fully understand when you say it is not the price of the system but the price of fixing it.
      When clients ask me which brand of lighting control is best? I always reply that it doesn't matter which brand you use. What matter above all is: How your system is being designed, How it is been installed and finally, how it is being programmed. Of course I'm not familiar with you current install and again im sorry to hear about your experience. Our biggest competitors aren't other brands or other professionals but disappointed clients. Hopefully you can find a local professional that can help you solving your issues. Good luck !

    Great video. Hooking up my pico in bedroom to the app and then only 2 of 4 dimmers in my bedroom. Was researching this for days and you explained it so well. now have to try it.

    Nice Video! Very Informative! Where do you usually locate the inline dimmers? Like in a panel similar to HomeWorks, or are they buried in the ceiling before drywall?

    • @adelux
      @adelux  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both. It depends if the project. Whatever is best. I’d like to say that I like dimmers on a panel or board in a single location, clearly labelled and accessible for any future maintenance. ✌🏾

    As previous comments, excellent video! I especially liked how you explained that you could leave both the Picos controlling both lamps but then showed how to control separate circuits.

    Great video and great channel, one of the best I have found in trying to understand Lutron system! On your demo both light are setup in living room, in case you would have setup in 2 different room, do you know if a pico remote would be able to control both light? Trying to understand if radio select manage only local load.

    • @adelux
      @adelux  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your kind comment! 🙏🏾
      A pico remote will only control the lighting circuit(s) you assign to it using the Lutron RA2 Select App. Therefore, if I’d have 2 rooms, I’d have a pico in each one. However, if I need to have a way to switch “on” and “off” all the lights in the house from the main entrance for example, I’d have an other pico there and will assign to it all the lighting circuits in that house. Hope this helps 😉

    Hi, amazing video. Very helpful. One question though - in 3BRL keypad how does one program the small round button in middle of Pico keypad? I guess it’s a favorite button.

    Very helpful video. Thank you. I have an existing RA2 installation at my house where the installer has gone out of business. The app he left me with is Home+. I understand this is now obsolete (but it works) and replaced y Lutron Connect. If I install Connect, will I be able to attach to my existing Main Repeater and add to/modify my existing system? I gather the house configuration is stored on the Main Repeater but am not certain. I am tech savvy but new to Lutron

    • @adelux
      @adelux  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First can you confirm you have a “Radio RA2” system not “RA2 Select” system. These are 2 different systems (from what you say I believe you have the former)

    • @coffeemocha
      @coffeemocha 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adelux Yes. Radio RA2.

    • @adelux
      @adelux  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok thanks. In this case if you use the Lutron connect App you will need the Lutron Bridge attached to your main repeater (cloud integration allows you to control /monitor from outside the house....) but this won’t allow for extracting configuration file. To extract config, you need the RadioRA2 software. This software is usually used by lutron professional rather than end users. Btw This software is also needed to add the Bridge to your system. Hope this helps.?

    I wish this was the only Lutron channel on U-Tube. I forgot how to set perform a function and had to weed through the other channels that didn’t answer my questions and just wasted my time. I made up a new list on named Lutron and your video is the only on in the list. Thank you for this complete video.

    Great job. That's one of the best You Tube lectures I've ever seen.
    I have a question or two.
    Our client wants this system in a new-build house, which won't have internet until it is occupied - could be several months.
    If I program the system in my home and then install it on site, will it work - ie. once programmed, will the switches function without internet?
    Second, if an occupier turns up, gets internet, gets the app, and wants to modify the system, I assume he needs to quote the original password and email address. So we should use a company email address. Out of interest, is it a big problem if the password gets lost?

    • @adelux
      @adelux  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, thanks for your message and kind words. Surely it’s better to setup the équipement once installed in its final position but I understand it is not always possible. I would say that you need internet connection as you need to first create your lutron account as shown on the this tutorial. There is option called contractor mode that will allow you to setup the system and then transfer it to your client lutron account later. Once setup the switch or the other equipment doesn’t need internet connection to work. Even if you loose internet at some point the system will still be working but the app won’t. Hope this help! Good luck

    • @alang7846
      @alang7846 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adelux Good answer, thanks. I can program the system using contractor mode, then leave a note in the O & M manual recommending that the future owner create a Lutron account.

    I have a question my father is building a 6000ft2 house, in his past home I installed him Z-Wave for sensors and lightning but I'm tired of Z-Wave reliability in big project so in this new home I want to install Lutron for lightning, for a user like me with experience in home automation do you thin ra2 select is enough or maybe I need to go with HW QS? Or Caseta should be the way? the house is built with bricks so the range is the main issue for sure and we are planning to install somewhere between 40-60 devices. Thanks and great Videos

    • @adelux
      @adelux  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your message. RA2 select is a good solution. To answer your question correctly however, we will need to know how many lighting circuits you will have as well as their load type? How many keypads and the level of integration overall? Based on the size alone and the fact that it is a new build Lutron HomeWorks QS seems to be the way to go!

    • @JoseLMG
      @JoseLMG 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adelux Lighting Control & Motorised Blinds thank you for your answer, I don’t know what you mean by load type exactly but I’m planning to control leds with 120v. Now for HW isn’t more, complicated? Or more expensive than “select”?

    • @adelux
      @adelux  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi by load type I mean are your lighting circuits mains dimmable, 0-10v, DALI...etc? With HWQS support from a Lutron professional should be required as it is not a DYI solution. On a house this size specially if it is a new build this is the right solution that comes to mind. Again, you should maybe talk with a local professional to look into all the options with you. Hope this helps. Thanks
