For the parking brake, there is a handle in the bottom of the front left of the steering wheel. Maybe the parking brake was not released?
Also, in French reviews, they are saying that the brake are powerful, so I guess that there is a problem with the brakes of this Twizy.
As for the speakers, it is because there is a bluetooth multimedia system. So you connect your smartphone for the music.
For the storage, there is a glove box in the right.
I was thinking that, some kit /retro cars do it like that, no console needed and everyone got their smartphone anyway
i'm driving a Twizy in Switzerland where we also have long Winters, not that worse as in Norway, but still. You have no clue what it mean to drive Twizy until you did at 0c ;-)
As you pointed out the Twizy is not a car, so I can park it everywhere the same way as a bike. what is a huge benefit. I park all day at the train station for free. where cars have to buy a ton of money and are limited to 2h max. a bike I would never drive all year, to dangerous in snow, never compare the twizy with a car, compare it with a bike!
If you have a twizy you need to add a OVMS (Open Vehicle Monitoring System) that was initially done for the Tesla Roadster. This allows to double the Power (max speed 110) and increase recuperation. without a Twizy is useless.
Michael Offner do you need an A license? Or can you just use it with a motorcycle license? If I can use it with a motorcycle license I’m buying one .
In Switzerland the "A" Category is to drive Motorbikes and the "B" category is for cars, then there is the "B1" category for "Kleinmotorfahrzeuge" (small engine cars). The Twizy is in Category "B1". Category "A" and "B" both include "B1", so in short you can drive the twizy when you have only a car license or only a bike license. the twizy also has the same small number plates as motorbikes, in fact i can use the same plate for my Vespa and my Twizy and i only have to pay for the more expensive vehicle.
You can buy windows for the Twizzy which is claimed improves the aerodynamics and the economy

I think there is no brake servo to assist your braking. Thats why you have to press the pedal harder than a normal car. But if you press hard enough you should be able to lock the wheels up though....
When you pointed the camera in the direction of travel I was amazed to see so many EVs. I know Norway has some 50% of new car sales as EVs, but even so it still blew me away. Did I see spot two or three Teslas, without trying? An Ampera E, an E-Golf [or maybe an UP!] and several others. Impressive. But the Twizy is not. Awww, shame. 😁

The smell is warm break pad and the rattle is the caliper ore brakepad against the brakedisc that is warped due to high temperature.
It happen when the brakedisc get to warm and off cource it does when the brake is hanging on there.
True. This is a common Twizy problem :/ It never really goes away, but it gets better if you drive it every day.
When can we expect a race to Trondheim in this?????
Domino's in Oslo have several of these. With a special box at the back. That's pretty cool. It should work very well for that. 😊

I can confirm that wifey would have hated you, if you had taken her through the tunnels. A couple of years ago, I took a friend on my Vespa LX125. Since it was raining I took Opera tunneled to from the center to Vålerenga. She thought I would try to kill her, when the trucks passed on both sides at the same time. If I bring it back, she will still get mad.
BTW, that Vespa overtakes 20-25 Tesla every morning.
What you were smelling was obviously the hanging break more and more burning up. maybe parking break on front wheels?
@@RemcoStoutjesdijk If it would've been that hot he wouldn't have been able to get his fingers that close. Breaking fluid should be fine up to about 200°C, I think he was nowhere near that. We're just not used to using unsupported breaks any more.
But the hanging calipers are quite common with EVs, it helps just to pump the break pedal every now and then when standing still to keep it from getting stuck.
I think only one caliper was operating - perhaps 3 were stuck?

I think you don't know that The cargo space is behind the rear seat .
The main problem with it is the very hard suspension and the batterrie loan even in winter when y don't use it.
Sadly not in France :-(

4:18 "11 hp" Twizy 80 (the 80 km/h version) has 13 kW (= 17 hp)
Ive been driving my Twizy for 2 years now. I would say this replaces a scooter and not a car. After only 11000 km ive replaced brakepads twice, they also get stuck easily. The ticking sound is normally gravel stuck in the tirepattern. Also the speakergrills in the roof are there on all models even if you order it without speakers.
The lack of braking is a showstopper if it is typical and not a fault of this particular car. Also no power steering is a fault that will limit sales. For cold climates no windows is a major issue as well. Despite all of this I rather like the concept - it would make an excellent local around small town car. I could see Pizza Delivery companies loving it ! Fix the issues listed at the start and I might consider one. Excellent review and good to see your wife joining in the driving as well.

I think the grooves you see on the cold front brake indicate that you had only one side braking on the front. Because the twizy brakes ok (brakes better than a scooter). Those doors normally comes with transparent vinyl windows, I think I see that those were cut out. (helps with the hairdresser bills)

You need to get a PowerBox for the Twizy, that's a whole different experience :)
James of James and Kate drove one of these around and it had issues with one of the brakes rubbing, just the trouble it seems you are having. You definitely need to try that tiny little car you referenced, the buddy, definitely.

Renault Twizzy is a "Motor Quadricycle" : very special category in France : cheap, drivable without car licence, age from 16 (18 for cars).
It make sense in Paris and big cities, but also on provence and Cote d'azur... very fun to drive on twisty roads along the mediterranean coast.
Nice little thing. Irrelevant on highways.
Commenting mid-video (never a good thing) and I'm guessing that the front right brake is slightly binding. Possibly due to a partially seized piston in the brake caliper. Often happens in any car which doesn't get used every day. Stamp on the brakes a few times. I wouldn't expect it to cure anything (it can sometimes), but you'll feel better. 😁
The smell and the hot right front are probably a hanging brake.
If I'm not mistaken, there's also a lot more brake dust on that wheel,which is a dead giveaway.
One other thing, I think the twizy supposed to have a compartment in the back so you open up the back of the twizy to put stuff in so you can carry your shopping, unless that's only certain ones.
There is an Aux cord in the left glovebox for the speakers😀

i dont miss my twizy But, with the tunning box ( it let to increase the engine power and the regen ) it works better; and you "can do your own battery" if the renault lease finish or you buy it one without the battery; and the windows.. is something that u can solve with a DIY solution; the sound system well if i remember well it is sould as an accesory: the Parrot MKi9100 !

Really makes you wonder what Renault was thinking not adding windows as standard feature, I never really considered it might not be that bad to the driver, but for anyone in the back the wind must be really annoying.
So if it is registered as an electric motorcycle presumably you are permitted to filter through traffic with it then.
In the UK it's considered a quad bike but it is not allowed as far as i'm aware to use bus lanes and park were motorcycles are allowed to park.

From the look of things the front wheel that got hot was actually the only wheel that got some braking power left. It's absolutely normal for (especially front) brakes to get warm/hot-ish even after just a couple of traffic light stops. This is how braking works, by converting kinetic energy intro heat. The visual aspect of the disk brakes in the video also seconds my assumption. I saw a lot of streaks and grime on those disks, clearly those pads don't properly make contact with the disk surface. So yeah, there's your problem, this vehicle is in dire need of a service visit because it's probably braking with only one wheel. Also it's a crap concept of a vehicle but that doesn't matter here, braking technology is not rocket science, by now we got it down pretty good and cheap.

Prius drivers are always slow? When I drove through Norway with my Prius I often had to overtake slow Leafs and Zoes.
You should start watching my live streams. We see Prius and Toyotas in general being very slow most of the time.
I already saw some live streams and some of the saved live stream videos. Especially I saw the complete race between Ioniq and Ampera-e from Oslo to Trondheim and back. I drove the route later with my Prius at least one way (see videos #42 - #45 in my channel). I think the latest Prius PHEV would win a race against Model X with trailer. It would be the first in Oslo again without refueling during the race and it would consume less energy. Without trailer the PHEV would consume more energy, but with trailer there is a chance to win. The PHEV can drive 50 km in ev mode and it can recuperate of course.
It has bluetooth speakers, I think.
The trick with no power steering is newer turn the steering wheel unless the car is moving a little bit.

Think of Twizy as an EV scooter, or EV newer BMW C1... It's even available without license in a version restricted to 45kph

33:20 Category: Umbrella vehicle. Twizy is not comparable to a car, it is an upgraded scooter. Twizy protects you from rain / snow like an umbrella protects you. Twizy is a made for southern Europe / Medeterrian climate, not really for Scandinavia.

Man my Niu U1 electric scooter runs at 40km/h and has a range of 50km with a spare battery doubling the range. Seats two can cut through traffic and costs only 800 USD. Plus comes with a gsm chip and has a Tesla style app with positional tracking via GPS. Talk about value🤣
