  • Now officially called AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline, we finally have the lead mech, the MAILeS Kenbu via the High Grade line in 1/72. Kyoukai Senki's proper kits start on a strong foot with this kit fixing many of the problems that plagued the Byakuchi and reusing far fewer parts from that kit than you'd ever guess.

      @@HobbyClubhouse Yeah your reviews really have good quality, as to me it has this aura of professionalism in them, not to say that other content creators don't. I really appreciate how to are very keen on the details and aspects of a kit, showing the pros and cons. I also appreciate your three-point verdict as it summarizes the whole review and helps see whether the kit is worth it or not. I can't wait to see how your channel grows in the future.

    I really appreciate how you approach your kit reviews with a sincere analysis of design aspects, shortcomings due to budgetary constraints, etc. It shows that, despite the entertaining delivery of your content, you take your kit assessments seriously. The earnestness of your reviews leaves your viewers armed with all the knowledge needed to make an informed decision when considering a possible purchase. Your reviews often make me reconsider a kit I had written off prior. (RIP wallet lol)

      Thank you so much :) I do think it's important people get the basis for my observations and opinions to see if it's useful or not with what they're looking for in particular. Quite often even imperfect kits are products of honest effort which is indeed bad news for wallets all around...

    Yeah the design of the Kenbu is debatable, but after seeing it in the anime and in this review, it somehow now caught my interest. Thanks to this review I really now want to buy this kit, as I saw the elements that make the Kenbu a worthy kit, and also the areas that I would like to fix.

    I agree the build is appealing to newer builders… like me. The scale is attractive for learning customization and weathering. It’s a lot easier to add scale-accurate weathering on a… ??6 meter machine compared to a 18 meter mobile suit.

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are wonderful for dioramas too with all the military stuff out there in 1/72 scale. I'd love to see people mix those kits in.

    The 3rd verdict, mate, so true !
    I was thinking the same thing , good minimalistic look aside, its nearly impossible that this kit stops right here ,
    i bet , bandai will release some expansion for this line, like the weapon packs we get from HGBD or the HGIBO support packs.
    honestly this is why i have trust issue with bandai over the years .
    anyways , good review mate! you have a great day ahead .

      If they release separate packs for weapons and accessories, that'd be the best approach. Sure hope they don't do the scummy thing and repackage the whole kit with some new additions... That autocannon and the sword can't last the whole war so surely something is down the line

    Time to wait for next week for the Bootleg Wodom, This review was great as always and When I saw the Kenbu the first time I immediately thought of IBO and Now seeing that the main suits are more or less interchangeable with their limbs and That incomplete form, Yeah it seems like it's gonna be IBO all over Again, I mean look at the Incomplete form, Left arm gauntlet and Incomplete shoulder armor, That's just 1st form Barbatos

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really is a lot like Barbatos in that first form. I do think the mix-friendly design will lead to a lot of really nice custom builds. Maybe I should see if the Boomerang legs fit onto these guys...

  • @ApenBaard
    @ApenBaard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the design of this one haha the head especialy! Not a big fan of the feet either though but I can live with em. The other kits seem to have pretty alien looking heads too. The only one with a more traditional mecha head design is the byakuchi, isnt it? Might be that bandai wanted to use that one to give people an excuse to get into the line that werent sold on the weird heads yet :p
    Anyways, the effort you put into your videos clearly shows as usual, good job!

      Someone said the Kenbu's head is like SCP-173 and I can't get that out of my head. I do think the Byakuchi intentionally leans closer to traditional designs to ease people into the radical new style. I wonder if it's working...

    not sure about other regions but this series flopped hard in my area, pretty much DOA along with the clearance sale staples from early build fighters' early sisters kits - can't believe they're almost a decade old on those shelves. funny how bamco tried to push this hard while it was WFM that really resonated both for the anime and the model kit line.
    how i wish we'd seen more old kit reviews instead, during Mr. Hobby's last days.

    as nice as the industrial aspects are, it's hard to ignore the contradictory head/eyes/feet design ( not to mention hand-held weapons...).
    it's forgiveable for the late70s-80s gundams to have those "V - antenna" / "antenna - fin",
    but 2020s semi-industrial design with rooster comb / yellow duck beak, and the questionable feet ( along the IBO high-heels - makes me really doubt the engineers at bandai ), and we're still doing hand-held weapons?

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen a lot of people mention online that they're not interested in the Kenbu because of the looks. It ranges from a general lack of enticement to outright not liking the looks... which really caught my eye the past few weeks because it does seem the Ken Okuyama Design collab may have had some blind spots.
      I remember one person saying the Kenbu's face looks like SCP-173... I wanted to be nice to the kit so I didn't relay that comment in the review...

    Two things I feel you'd like to know dude.
    1: In the case of the designs, keep in mind that the lead designer was most famous for designing Planes, Trains, and Cars, and all of those designs were with speed in mind.
    I think you briefly touched on this last time, but I think it's a case of the designers past poking through his present if you catch my drift.
    2: Your lack of trust may, or may not, be unwarranted, because it DOES NOT look like Bandai will be repackages the Mailes, rather they seem to be packaging their expansions(rather small ones but hey-hoe) in the Transporter kits.
    The Armoured Special Carrier comes with a new Claw Shield for the Kenbu, and the Stork Carry comes with new shoulder shield and a pair of pistols(Second trigger hand included) for the Mailes Jogan, that's the blue one with the GREAT BIG HONKING GUN!!!
    Seriously LOOK at that thing!
    I'll bet both Lockons would be greener then their Gundams at the site of that thing, IT'S FUCKING HUGE!!!
    ... ahem, uh sorry about that, lost my head there for a bit.
    What were we talking about again?

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there my man
      For 1, the design firm's style is definitely a factor in the funky angles whereas the Byakuchi seems to have only gotten the overall MAILeS layout (probably wasn't among the things worked on by Mr. Yuya Koyanagi, the guy from Ken Okuyama Design working on this). I get what you mean.
      For 2... nah, I don't trust Bandai. They're doing a lot of things right here, but I'll still preach caution:) You're right about the truck and the extra weapons though. I'd sure want them to not pull the rug from under my feet and make a superior Kenbu later. (*also, I really want the truck and carrier)

    • @MasterSwo
      @MasterSwo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HobbyClubhouse Well think of it like this, even if they do pull fast one, you'll be sitting pretty with the robots and their bells and whistles, plus the bonus of the Truck and Plane.
