Hey how’s it going sir.. I’m still considerably in the compressor world so that’s why I’m late to the commenting party, hahah. Anyways I wanted to say thanks for really playing a big part in where I am today as a technician. You and a select few I’ve come to realize that you hold yourself to another level and put out a higher quality of work. This particular video in general for me because I had no idea that we’re able to fabricate gaskets out in the field. Anyways my story is the same as most of I’m still learning a lot every compressor I touch, every air filter replaced. Are you by chance in the field still? There’s not anyone making current videos right now in the everyday life of a technician. Seriously it’s like the compressor world died. If you aren’t still in the field I have some very specific questions that I’m having trouble getting answered. Maybe I can throw you an email and see what you can muster up for a solution or better way to attack it. Great videos sir. Thank you.

I agree with the harbor frieght thing, I have knipex, wera, and some other nice stuff too, but for sockets and stuff i abuse or lose on the regular is all harbor frieght and kobalt. only snap on thing i own is a 90° green handles pick i found in the engine compartment of my work van though haha.
what are you using for socket rails? I have my HF sockets on the og packaging with the ends cut off and thats a shit way to go haha

FoodTech Yeremy I use the socket rails they sell at The Home Depot they are really good I've been using the same sets for over a year no issues with breaking or anything I hate kobalt sockets I've had a set before where the sizes were all screwed up not being sized correctly

Benny CompTech oh no shit, I'll have to go pick some up.
yeah I'm not a huge fan of the kobalt ones i have. so far the only sockets I've ever cracked.

Good stuff homie. I love an easy fix! Those snappy flex heads are the shit. Do you have mainly HF sockets or do you recommend another brand?

Michael Martinez for 1/4" I use mostly harbor freight and bluepoint and a few snap on for 3/8" I use snap on only and for 1/2" I have snap on deeps harbor fright pro shallows bluepoint and craftsman so I have a good assortment of a lot of brands

The trick when popping gaskets out with a hammer is to do the holes first. That way there is more material bulk and you won't lose the corners. In fact if you don't pop the holes all the way at first the little disks of material will hold the gasket in place whilst the rest gets popped out. Also you're right about small hammers, also light taps will cause less damage to the component.
Great to see the old skills still in use!

We had to make our own gaskets when I was in the Air Force. I found just some downward pressure, not tapping on the bolt holes allows you to make a cleaner looking gasket. It will at a minimum give you some to trace and cut with scissors.
