This was the most solid Richmond race since 2016 at least. It made me so proud yesterday because I live right near the track and it's been painful to watch races here over the last 10 years
Most of the most recent races there have been day races, which can go either way. Though the fall Chase race stayed nighttime I think. Not sure why they ran at daytime in the summer last year though.
Something I've noticed. Toyotas are incredible on the long runs. Give them a 30-40 lap green flag run to the end, they will dominate. Unfortunately, NASCAR likes having cautions near the end of a race, because it's less predictable and more dramatic. Which sucks, because I love Toyota, especially MTJ.

Took three friends who aren’t fans at all to the race today and they absolutely loved it. This was such a step up from last years Toyota owners 400 especially in person, was the broadcast good?
Once again Harvick pulling the load for the Ford camp & basically the only blue oval guy out there week in week out who's competitive. Joey Logano is close too & has a W but also very off at moments too.
Part of me was really hoping that JJ would retaliate when DH was in the lead and passing him to lap him again. Prolly would have gone a long way to getting the attention of the big teams that the little guys won't be pushed around either.
I think it’s worth saying good job nascar. None of the major issues from last year have been problems this year. The new package has been great for the racing. The tires have been wearing but not failing. The safety seems to be better and as we saw today, the back end is softer this year. The racing product has been really good all year, and really the only issues have been the drivers being incompetent in the second half of the clash and the final restarts at COTA. Applause to NASCAR for making the changes that were needed. I think they’ll need to keep making changes to keep teams on their toes and keep the cars hard to drive. They’ve done a great job so far though.
It was nice for once to see karma strike back at Denny for his actions against JJ early. That was really about getting a caution to make up spots on the ensuing restart.
You mean Christopher Bell running over William Byron, while blaming Chastain? Replay showed Chastain not even touching Christopher Bell. Like Denny running over JJ Yeley? @@johnhaas2523 the manufacturers have little to nothing to do with it. It's NASCAR trying to have a closer "better racing" product. That was the entire point behind the 550 package. The current engines are capable of 900+ HP, but are given tapered spacers to reduce air flow and cut horsepower. Furthermore, even when NASCAR had the 550 package at most tracks, they ran 750 at short tracks. After testing for the new car, they took driver feedback and went with the highest HP package they tested which was the current 670 HP package. This improved racing at intermediate tracks. However, it meant lower HP at short tracks. Combine that with the wider tires and you get a car that is arguably too easy to drive and has too much grip at short tracks.
Great race! Good coverage by Fox. Good to see Front Row MS finishing well. Malcolm McDowell in the 34 is impressive. Not the best team out there, but seems more often than not to be in the mix. IMO he drives a bit above his equipment level.
What a wild day at a track I am otherwise apathetic towards Berry looked so excited in the post race interview as he should, pit call or not he had to stay in contention and survive those restarts with Chastain and Logano behind him. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call to get Dale Jr to quit dawdling and bite the bullet on Cup. He lost Gragson and if he isn't careful he will lose Berry who will almost certainly have some people calling to make offers
I think the new package is good, Kyle Larson finally got the win he deserved and I’m happy the package made the top work better and made the cars slide more.
I have to say, as a Byron fan and being there in person it really sucked to see him get spun on that restart. I'm also a Bell fan, but that was stupid to not leave enough room for Byron when he had TONS of room on the inside.

They been straight 🔥 every race and show no signs of slowing down
Hamlin's hypocrisy has always rubbed me the wrong way.
Wait,, Chastain doesn’t get blamed for something other than being aggressive today? Plus, Denny wrecks JJ on purpose “oops, I meant accidentally” and Speeds on pit road twice? Is this the Twilight Zone? (I’m probably showing my age with that comment) 😂
Took three friends who aren’t fans at all to the race today and they absolutely loved it. This was such a step up from last years Toyota owners 400 especially in person, was the broadcast good?
Probably best of the season. Larry Mac was a natural addition.
Once again Harvick pulling the load for the Ford camp & basically the only blue oval guy out there week in week out who's competitive. Joey Logano is close too & has a W but also very off at moments too.
Logano had top 5 speed today, but had to pit twice and was put back in 33rd in the middle of stage two. It took him the entire race to recover from it
@@nickchana8573 Actually good point forgot that, I just wished Happy Harv wouldn't retire. & man SHR is in trouble when he leaves.
@@Michael-Styles Harvick just bought a late model dirt car and is also doing some of the CARS tour.
Fords are good at taking a load.
Part of me was really hoping that JJ would retaliate when DH was in the lead and passing him to lap him again. Prolly would have gone a long way to getting the attention of the big teams that the little guys won't be pushed around either.
How bout Brad K? Doing really good. For those that are fairly new fans, Brad has a championship. He's a great guy also.
Kinda sad people remember his former teammate more
I think it’s worth saying good job nascar.
I thought Ross did really well today. His pit crew was on point too
Can't say the same for his teammate though
Best Richmond race I’ve seen
Listen to Dirty mo dough with steve letarte he said Reddick would laps down. Great show.
It was a good race! I'm going to watch Action Detrimental this week to see how honest Denny is about wrecking JJ! Thanks for the video 😎👍
I just realized this, but both Zane and Chandler Smith in their debuts finished 17th. That's a funny coincidence for people with no relation
Not only the Indycar race was solid but Nascar was also lots of strategy and kinda a dramatic ending with Byron but overall solid race
This was a painful race as Truex fans. He was so close to breaking that winless streak.😔
Sameee and i was in the stands too!
Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain find a way to be in the NASCAR news every week.💀
This was the first points race this season where Aric Almirola was not involved in a race impacting incident/crash.
brake fluid had an issue with the 47
Denny "Ross Chastain" Hamlin.
a late race caution causing Truex and Byron to lose after being the dominant cars all day is such a 2023 thing to happen
You mean Christopher Bell running over William Byron, while blaming Chastain? Replay showed Chastain not even touching Christopher Bell. Like Denny running over JJ Yeley? Sucks to get caught too fast exiting pit road too. LMAO, wasn't Denny preaching about Drivers showing more respect? What Denny meant was Drivers other than Denny Hamlin.
@@erwinpadgett1050 Dennis has been a menace for a couple of years now. I'm pretty sick of hearing a certain three drivers complain about young drivers not having any respect, then turning around and blatantly wrecking someone unprovoked. Can't wait to see those three retire
@@erwinpadgett1050 pretty sure he was talking abt the caution when tyler reddick spun lmao
@@StageWinnerMTJ pretty sure he wasn't. CAN YOU READ? Look at comment above our replies. Lmao
@@erwinpadgett1050 well truex and byron basically “lost” because of reddick spinning. if that wouldn’t of happened, no restart and they most likely would’ve finished 1-2 in either order. so that’s just that but yeah they still both lost shittier after the restart lol
Larson wins on Ricky Hendrick's birthday
HMS & JGR resurfacing as the top dogs
Great short track racing
Crew chiefs for 9, 34, & 38 getting them great finishes
Gibbs's third 9th in a row and having 7/11 rear bumper sponsorship
Except for Hamlin, Blaney, and Truex it was a pretty good race
Bring back horsepower, especially at these short tracks
Denny Hamlin being a hypocrite, not surprising.
Appreciate how Indy showed us how you can have a great race, lots of entertainment, and end under caution. Unlike Nascar and F1.
Todays race was the same way except it ended under green at the scheduled distance.
😂
Great race! Good coverage by Fox. Good to see Front Row MS finishing well. Malcolm McDowell in the 34 is impressive. Not the best team out there, but seems more often than not to be in the mix. IMO he drives a bit above his equipment level.
Why is it ALWAYS a situational thing that ruins Truex’s day like dang it every time he’s in contention
What a wild day at a track I am otherwise apathetic towards
Berry looked so excited in the post race interview as he should, pit call or not he had to stay in contention and survive those restarts with Chastain and Logano behind him. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call to get Dale Jr to quit dawdling and bite the bullet on Cup. He lost Gragson and if he isn't careful he will lose Berry who will almost certainly have some people calling to make offers
It's funny how the most inconsistent drivers in both cup and xfinity (Bowman and Herbst) are the most consistent so far.
Great recap, was a great race and as usual, you're wearing an great shirt!
Actually it was one of Denny's better days. He wrecks someone every week.
I feel bad for Byron tho
Hamlin has lost all my respect over the past year
I think the new package is good, Kyle Larson finally got the win he deserved and I’m happy the package made the top work better and made the cars slide more.
Truex needs a new CC man
I have to say, as a Byron fan and being there in person it really sucked to see him get spun on that restart. I'm also a Bell fan, but that was stupid to not leave enough room for Byron when he had TONS of room on the inside.
Denny was giving JJ yeley his shingles vaccine
This is one of the things that’s impressing me the most about Bowman. For seemingly his whole Hendrick career he was super inconsistent. Now he has no worse finish than 14th.
Seems to get the least amount of attention among the four main Hendrick Drivers.
@@bighand1530 I thought that was Byron though
Not usually a fan of this track but today was a hell of a good race! Hamlin was whining again, Chastain ran an awesome race and Kyle won a great race. I really feel bad for J.J. That was uncalled for. As for Stewart Haas, great showing today by everyone.
