Ive been waiting for your review! I am enthralled with how well this line has stood and become of itself. I am very curious to know what volumes are next?!
Yea! Jose Villarubia’s discovery was a little disheartening for this line. But, overall this is still the best way this series has ever been reprinted. I don’t regret selling my old omnibus in favor of this version at all!
Does this include the Tales of the Watcher back up stories from issues 1-7? No collection of this series ever includes those and i would love to read them ... I'll probably get this anyway...thank you for the overview
It sadly does not! One of the flaws with this collection as it’s supposed to be true facsimile editions. But, alas. It’s the best collection of these stories nonetheless. Thanks for watching!
@@anhemlienquan5526 the only publishers that have done reprints of comics with the detail I show in this video are Taschen, Abrams ComicArts, and the Folio Society.
Yea! I was curious. Besides what I mentioned (material from FF annual #5 and Not Brand Echh #13) I can’t remember what else the omnibus had. Slightly regret selling it already just for the reason of doing a comparison!
This book is so beautiful, and I have the other Taschen volumes, and I definitely want it. Unfortunately, I put myself on a book-buying hold. I am considering a move so until I make a decision on that, I’m trying not to accumulate more stuff, especially 20-pound books. But someday…
I'm now wondering if a Mighty Marvel Masterworks would be the size of one of the panels in Big John's four panel layouts... 🤔 And yes, hope to get this one, and at least a couple others. And, you're the 2nd person I've heard recently, hoping they do a Ditko Doctor Strange as well !
@TaylorTalksComics I'm also thinking a Hulk Vol. 1 with what the Marvel Masterworks has as content in their first Hulk volume. I've been collecting all the DM Mighty Marvel Masterworks for my son when he's older. He's nearly 6 now, but thinking of passing them onto him when he's 9 or 10. I'm also curious to know how long they're thinking of publishing them, putting them out for us to collect... 🤔
@@jonny9884 I’ve heard talks of Captain America and Thor being possible next volumes by Taschen. And I’m still curious if that mean Golden or Silver Age for Cap. I was getting each of the Mighty MMWs for my son for a while. I slowed down because we weren’t reading them at quite the rapid pace. And he’s a big time comics fan, but hasn’t quite gotten hooked by Marvel just yet!
I heard yesterday that Taschen plans on doing up to four volumes for the titles that go that far. I'm guessing four volumes of FF, Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men. If this is true, I wonder whether they'll do four single or complete volume volumes. Hope that made sense. And, what would be a good cut-off point for FF, the only one so far that I'd be interested in having four volumes of.
My absolute DREAM would be to have the entire Lee/Kirby run of FF in this format! @@jonny9884 But, at 20 issues a pop, we would like need 5 or more volumes....
Is it just me, or does this one book have much cleaner pages than the others? It looks like there are almost no printing errors, and the colors are too saturated. The other books looked like scans of old pages, but this one looks almost as if it was recolored (I don't think that's the case, but one of the things I really love about the other books in this collection is that the colors look much paler in comparison. They serve as a testament to an era of low-quality printing).
@@jfdiseg it does appear that way to me too. Jose Villarubia (comic book colorist and critic) has pointed out certain pages were actually recolored in this edition. Which is disappointing. It could be that this is a somewhat newer comic than the other material in the other Taschen editions. So, coming across good quality editions to scan for this volume might’ve been easier.
This was more of an overview of this specific edition of this book! If you’d like me to dive in and review the actual issues for this run, I can certainly do that as well!
An elite-tier comic book run.
This is no doubt the best way to experience it. Brilliant overview!
Thank you!
I wanted the large formate, sir! Seen those in persona and they are a beast. At the very least, making me want some SIlver Surfer
It’s truly beautifully. A stunning book. Each one of these Taschen books blows me away.
Half off the Taschen website for these on the Marval xxl versions.
Yep! And that’s a STEAL!
great in-depth review. thanks!

Thanks fo rthe review... I got the FF and Spider-Man one and I am a big fan. Got unsure over Jose Villarubia's comments. Now I have to have it. :)

I would love to do a comparison of the bonus material vs the Marvel Omnibus. Any difference there would be the only reason I would keep my copy.
