For some reason, the names that stuck with me were the ones Marvel used when they did a spoof of The Silver Surfer in one of their humor comics: Borin’ Lad and Shallow Gal. 😄

Silver Surfer #4 has one of the greatest covers of all time. Just perfect.

Silver Surfer is such a underrated superhero. You can tell Lee had a special place in his heart for Radd.
Silver Surfer: Parable by Lee and Moebius is also amazing and some of the best art in superhero comics.

What a gorgeous edition, I have the first 5 issues in an "undersize" pocketbook edition!.. Still fab though, great story!

The Surfer has always been one of my favorite chars. I have all those early issues. Nobody, not even 'King' Kirby, drew SS better than Big John Buscema.

I have a Stan Lee book recommendation. It was called "Stan Lee presents the best of the worst: a Comprehensive Compendium of the Rottenest Things on Earth". In it he lists the worst historians, the worst restaurants, the worst painters etc, each one followed by a one liner bang bang joke. For instance The Worst Historian died trying to stretch himself with a rope to get rid of his double chin. The comedy line: I wonder what kind of historian he was.
If you don't have a copy get one! It's a must have.

Great review. Silver Surfer was my favorite when I was younger. I still think Ron Lim drew him better than anyone, though. They just brought the Marz/Lim duo back, which I still need to go pick up.

I can even remember the first comic book by anyone that I read. It was a pretty average: The Way of the Wookiee!, by Marvel [1979].

Very interesting Michael. I buy so many books since I watch you channel ! I would love your take on Luke Cage, Brother Voodoo and Killraven if you're interested in those characters. Thanks for all the videos you've already done though. Cheers from Belgium.

I wish the SS artist edition had more Mephisto page art.

You make my library feel guilty as all I have for comic books is two encyclopedias of Marvel-DC characters; apparently I am going to have to look into the Epic Collection at the very least.....and one question, what did you think of the Silver Surfer in the two FF Movies?

I thought they did a good job with Silver Surfer. But they made Galactus a big cloud!

@@michaelk.vaughan8617 Yes, that part was a very big disappointment.....it seems they cannot get the FF right no matter how many times they make a movie....but some things were good.

I think Joe Sinnot was Kirby’s best inker.
