Also just noticed: the kinder stepsister has a Pink dress and the meanest is in green, like Anastasia and Genoveffe from Disney. Also, kinda referincing, the first seems to resemble more how in Perrault's version the stepsister were ugly but not really mean-mean to Cinderella, while the second one resembles more the Grimm Brothers' version, in which they hated her and wanted to harm her.
I think Shrek the 3rd is fine. It has its moments and while not nearly as good as the first two movies which I watch a lot more, it still has some funny things and an overall nice story. The 4th movie on the other hand, is full of inconsistencies and too much negative character development with Shrek especially unlearning almost everything he did and not appreciating all that he earned. I’m apprehensive about their even being a 5th film upcoming considering the 4th was intended and even title as basically the “final chapter”. The second Puss in Boots film was great (the first was okay). So maybe if they learn from that one Shrek 5 could still turn out better but I’m still not convinced yet.
I honestly liked this movie better than the second, I kinda forgot a lot of the second movie until I rewatched it after several years. Don't get me wrong, the second is great! I just like the third better. That might be a result of accessibility growing up, we had a copy of Shrek the Third and not the first two.
You forgot to mention the royal pain scene where Shreks toenails are trimmed from the toenail grinder as a reference to Dumb and Dumber from Jim Carrey
I didn't know "Good Morning" was from something other than Singing In the Rain! That's fascinating. I got some Wikipedia reading to do. Also, how can you tell the stoners are smoking frankincense and myrrh specifically? As far as I can tell, all we see is the thurible the second stoner is holding. (I'm not Catholic, but I know that Catholic priests use thuribles during services and probably other rituals as well.) Lastly, I love Julie Andrews so much.
@@wagerword It's more explicitly stated in the movie! The one says something like, "quit hoarding all the frankincense and myrrh bro" in a very stereotypical stoner voice. I wonder if that joke was always there or if they were forced to add it to make it clear they aren't on drugs 😅
