    The real real stole a Dior coat from me I sent in to sell. They tried to say it wasn’t real when it was and I even showed proof of receipt. It turns out they just misplaced it and they didn’t want to pay me for because it was very expensive. I had to get a lawyer and everything. Be very careful with that site!

    I have a love hate relationship with The RealReal, I love that I can find vintage and products I missed out on, but I hate how they market their products, very few details and horrible pictures. You take a chance ordering from the realreal and you have to get your purchase privately re-authenticated because too many Fakes get through their vetting process.

    I find the pre loved websites have got much worse. I used to buy from Vestiaire but the quality control has really deteriorated. The last bag I bought was a cloth Chanel and was stated as ‘excellent condition’. Visually it was as the pictures shown- but the smell of cigarettes was unbelievable...like how your clothes would smell after a night out when you could smoke in bars 🚬 . Great video as always Dacob ❤

    I actually love the look of Bethenny’s bag!! Worn in denim is such a vibe. 💕💕 I have had similar experiences with TRR, except I purchased clothing. They would describe items in much better condition than they were and if they did mention a flaw, there would be flaws that they missed (ofc final sale items.) It’s a gamble purchasing from them, but I would not take a chance purchasing a bag, especially as they usually list them as final sale.

    TRR sold a fake Chanel ballet flat to me couple of years as well. Took a lot of email back and forth before they’re willing to refund back to my original payment method. At first they wanted to give me a store credit and I refused. I found they relisted the same item after 😱

    Hi Dacob! Thank you so much for the video! I studied law in the UK, this issue falls under consumer rights. She has a right indeed, because when selling online, the seller has to accurately describe the product, including providing the pictures. If the bag she purchased doesn’t fit the description, as was in this case, this means that the contract can be cancelled, so she can return the bag.
    It works like any other contract. Offer, acceptance, and consideration. In these circumstances, offer was falsely advertised, deceiving and misleading the buyer, by not accurately describing and providing untruthful pictures.
    UK and US legal systems are quite similar in principles, so I can assume it should be the same. Even in Europe it is.
    Companies often say “sales are final”, “no returns” etc, because they often assume buyers do not know their rights under law, so they can put whatever they want in their own “terms and conditions”. But law always prevails and is superior to anything these companies state as “rules”.
    I’ve had a few such situations, when buying online, and always wrote an official email describing my rights, and mentioning respective laws. The seller in 99% cases will return the money. Because they know they are in the wrong and no one wants to pay legal fees.

    • @yanapetrova706
      @yanapetrova706 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Oh forgot to mention. It is also if the product is bought online, buyer always has a right of inspection and refusal.
      Here’s the statute (US):
      Ҥ 2-513. Buyer's Right to Inspection of Goods.
      (1) Unless otherwise agreed and subject to subsection (3), where goods are tendered or delivered or identified to the contract for sale, the buyer has a right before payment or acceptance to inspect them at any reasonable place and time and in any reasonable manner. When the selleris required or authorized to send the goods to the buyer, the inspection may be after their arrival.”
      Hope it helps!

      So, essentially she can request a refund (chargeback) if the RR refuses to allow her to return the bag?

    • @yanapetrova706
      @yanapetrova706 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@b.abouttowwn yes. Because she has a right to inspect the goods before the purchase is “completed”. The purchase can be completed only after the buyer accepts the goods. This acceptance can be done unilaterally, when you do not return the goods and all is fine. But overall you have 14 days period of inspection, when you have the right to return, given the product wasn’t worn and is in the original condition etc. basically how they sent it to you.
      So regardless what RR says, she has the right to inspect and return if the goods do not conform seller’s description 😊

    I personally experienced the FAKE online from a well know reseller. Buyer beware purchasing especially online from seller in USA. I bought a Gabrielle bag (Quilted pattern) and noticed that the chain was lighter as I looked into the chai, it got some rubbed and realized the chain was painted with metal color which underneath were plastic. It came with hologram and authenticity card but the card was a bit thinner that the actual which can hardly be noticeable.
    Hint the seller got retail stores throughout California and at the mall as well. I somehow brought the bag back to the store they refunded to me right away without going through the online return request.
    The only reseller I trusted is the Japanese reseller on eBay still READ the review rating before buying and capture all pictures posted

      Did you try Fashionphile before The Real Real? And there's also Yoogi's Closet. I've dealt with all of them as long as they've been in existence. A couple years ago, I decided to sell my regular size Fendi Peekaboo, bought in Paris in 2015, and first checked The Real Real's Peekaboo photos to see if there was one like mine as then I could check the listed resale selling price.There was one, although the bag was rare, and it was priced at $2,000. But, at The Real Real, the seller wasn't going to get $2,000 as one gets a percentage depending on what percentage category one is in, along with the final selling price. So, I contacted Fashionphile and sent photos of my bag and immediately received a response and an offer for $2,000. I accepted and zipped over to Beverly Hills and took the bag to their office instead of mailing it to them. Fashionphile started here in L.A. in the late 1990s.
      The bag was checked out and a week or so later, I received a check for $2,000. I wouldn't have gotten that amount at The Real Real.
      As for resale, I've been dealing with resale places since the early 80s and there are chances that one takes. But, back in the day before the internet, one either went to resale places in person or shopped by mail from a boutique's printed catalogue.
      As for The Real Real, I shop with The Real Real for different items and my vintage Bottega bag purchases have been perfect along with the listed prices, markdowns, and take an additional amount off on top of it all. I've also bought other brand bags through them although my main company is Fashionphile. However, I sometimes also shop Yoogis Closet on the side. I buy from and sell to them all.
      As for selling LV bags, there are so many flooded on the resale market until the resale offer prices for sellers is not always that good to say the least. I bought my first LV bag at the LV store in Paris in 1980. Back then, the resale value was really high if one wanted to sell an LV bag here. I had lots of LV items in the 80s/90s. But, the market wasn't flooded back then. As of two years ago, I sold off all of my LV bags and other LV items and haven't bought anymore. I only kept my Bisten hardsided suitcases, my two travel-size Speedy bags, and my Serviette Fermoir Monogram briefcase bought at LV-Paris in the 80s and early 90s. LV's vinyl back then was different and my items still look great decades later.
      Greetings from Los Angeles

    I actually just bought a bag from TRR. There were a lot of pictures showing close ups of all normal trouble spots in the bag like the corners, bottom, hardware, etc. you could tell it was the individual bag because other bags of the same type showed different photos and different flaws. It came exactly as I expected. I don’t know if they use stock photos for some bags and not others or what. But if I think it looks like they used the same photos for different bags, I wouldn’t take the chance.

    I'm not a fan of TheRealReal so it pains me to say it BUT if you look at TRR's website and their condition standards, Good means to them that "Items show moderate signs of wear" and they even say "worn corners, moderate scratches and interior wear". Like they literally say exactly what she is seeing on this bag that she bought. So yes using stock images is dodgy (which is just one of the problems with TRR) and they should really state that in the description, but the condition sounds like it was accurately described. If you want pristine, look for a bag that is in pristine or at least excellent condition, which are items that according to them show no signs of wear. Good and very good to TRR means that they have signs of wear, but they are not outright damaged. Hey, at least she didn't get a fake right? I would totally wear that bag and I think it's gorgeous!

    I will not buy from the Real Real again. They misrepresented the quality of the items I purchased and then their return policy is a pain and they don't give full refunds. Thanks, but no thanks!

    I love the real real but I have to see it in person. They can send it to their boutiques near u to chk it out, if that helps my love. 😘😘😘Sandy

    You can CALL TheRealReal and complain and they WILL take it back and Refund your money of you tell them its not authentic or not as advertised. I’ve done this multiple times unfortunately because they stink at properly portraying items they list

      @mbelieve9919 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They have gotten much stricter and more difficult about returning items that are not as described. I would be very careful about purchasing final sale items from them now.

      @@mbelieve9919 thanks. They need to be accountable on their end and provide many more pics like Fashionphile. The only reason I even deal with them is I’ve found interesting pieces I couldn’t find elsewhere

      I've had this experience too, but what made me stop shopping TRR permanently is that they RELISTED the SAME fake bag on the site after I returned it! I can't trust anything they sell anymore.

      @@vvforme Wow, I can't say I'm surprised but that is upsetting. I found Bethanny's bag relisted without any better pictures to show the wear.

    I have never made a purchase from the RealReal but I have shopped in their stores. If they don't have an item on their floor but it's in their inventory, they will bring it in for you to examine and decide if you want it or not. You must pay for it in advance but if you decide against it, they will refund you immediately and you don't even have to take it out of the store with you.
    Since Bethenny lives in NYC, and I believe she actually lives in close proximity to the Soho store, I'm surprised she didn't take advantage of that option when purchasing such an expensive item.
    The fact that this bag is "not as described" is concerning, though. But if I were in her shoes, I would have taken the less risky route. No doubt the privacy aspect is in play here, but I think having the option to reject an expensive item rather than committing to it blindly is less of a gamble.
    That is, unless you plan to make a TicTok about it.

    The bag, in my opinion, does not warrant the title, "destressed" it simply looks dirty. All the areas she was pointing out are known to get dirt and oil on them, especially the lock and areas in which you would normally handle the bag. Unfortunately, denim is not forgiving.

    The realreal always leaves the sold items posts up. I just looked at this one. Their pictures are never great and for this item; they don't even show the corners, the bottom or the inside flap that she's pointing to. I have kind of realized that if they don't show it in a picture, that it must not be in great condition.They also rarely show you the made in tag if it's not France. This listing does say fading on exterior. discoloration at base. I mean it was three thousand dollars. The bags are outrageously priced but all things considered I think she got a steal. I don't know what more she wants. I actually think item is as described. I was able to make a return When I proved that the dimensions for a bag they stated were incorrect. I think the issue is as they described in the condition notes. That's why they don't want to take it back

    Do we know what she paid for the Chanel? BF can go to any boutique and get whatever she wants, lol!
    I think the bag is good but I love pre loved. Only thing I got from Real Real was Tori Burch flats and was lucky. I have sold items with them and had no issues but I will be careful.
    I went to the Real Real store in LA and they had more clothes than bags.

    The bag is definitely in “good” condition, but I don’t know about “very good”. Thsg denim looks really soft, of course it’s going to show signs of wear and tear. It is an absolutely stunning bag though. And she is very entertaining. I love her make up reviews.

    I bought something form The Real Real and then made an account in case I wanted to resell. I kid you not, a rep from The Real Real called me EVERYDAY asking when I was going to ship the item to sell. I finally told her I was poor and did not have high end items to sell. Very strange business! Also, Bethany is kind of a Karen. If that bag was listed as in "good condition" then I think they described it correctly! The bag looks good! She should just buy stuff new if she is going to be that picky.
