Great summary, thank you! I have learned one thing since beginning my BJJ journey: "I am Tom, King of the Spasmotics!" Very humbling experience thus far.
These are such simple, well illustrated maneuvers that I will be sure and perfect as I go Stephen, thanks so very much! Super helpful and informative. Keep up the great work Oss!
With all these great free lessons I dont ever have to pay for a teacher... Thats great.. There are so many teachers out there that offer free videos that no one ever has to pay for lessons.. THAT is the sentiment that most have... for ALL lessons.. TH-cam is really killing so much private instruction as so many people dont know the TRUE VITAL NEED to have a live teacher with foresight and insight into the path of each student..
@@ThePathOfEudaimonia haha. Truth is I've never been on a date. Noe female has ever shown any interest in spending any time with me. I made that comment 2 years ago when I was 32, I'm almost 35 now and in the same situation. At least I still train BJJ.
I'd love to see a follow up video demonstrating with a partner the practical application of all of these shrimp movements. I know its being exploited at times but as a beginner jujitstu is so complex I need all the help I can get picturing these things.....
You forgot the shrimp cocktail. Awsome video, I had no idea there were so many ebi methods. Shrimp on the barby. Shrimp sandwich. Shrimp fried rice. Shrimp fajitas. Shrimp salad. Buba Gump
+Stephan Kesting : starting off in BJJ, and I a making a point to watch at least one of our videos each morning ..... I am trying to focus on finding and studying all of your escape/defense-related videos .....would be great if you could organize playlists where a video is in more than one, such as "BJJ Escapes", "BJJ Basic Skills" ..... Thanks!
I'm listening to the podcasts via Spotify. I want to give them a thumbs but that option doesn't come up. How do I find it. By the way, I love all the podcasts thus far. I've been looking for a good podcast and finally found one. Thanks.
Great video! Thank you. This has really helped me. I was struggling with reverse shrimp and watching you tuck your shoulder helped me fix my problem. +1 Sub =)
I'm a total beginner here but seems to me like pretty much every one of these shrimps can be summarised as: Lift hips off the ground and scoot them in the direction you want to move
Now Stephen what about people that do not shrimp? Now I believe shrimping is a foundational movements of Brazilian Jiujitsu how long should warms up be for Jiujitsu?
Can you offer me advice Stephan? I love BJJ so much but after collecting some of your apps and nearly all your Dvds from your Amazon store and spending 12 months rolling I started to advance but I reached a point where my teacher is telling me to put more pressure with my chest on whoever im rolling with to keep them pinned especially when im in side control and im transitioning to north south for example. I found this impossible as I have... big breasts... so it can hurt. I havent been in weeks and I really miss it but I feel like iv reached a wall in my progress. What can I do?
You can adjust and apply pressure with your lower ribs or even your upper abs, but more likely you'll have to explore more kesa gatame-style (on your side) positions. I used to train with an Iraqi veteran who didn't have a left lower leg. His personal anatomy didn't faze him whatsoever. Take your instructor aside at the start/end of class, explain your issue directly and honestly. If still unresolved, find a new instructor like @KaelinSaint suggested.
If you feel uncomfortable talking about it with your instructor and askfor advice, you can always look at how some big names aproach the same problems, like Ronda Rousey or Miesha Tate for example. i believe they also had similar problems so you can look at how they handle side control, but first thing that comes to mind is try kesa gatame instead of regular side mount and in north sount you can turn to one side a bit and not lay flat on your oppontent, these positions are just as effective it is just a matter of controling the shoulders and the head of your opponent
Thank you guys for your comments! I will try to do more kesa gatame its a great idea I guess I will just have to learn it really well. Yes I do feel uncomfy talking to my teacher about this lol. I love watching Ronda fight shes so good at arm bars but yeh I think mine are much bigger so its like I cant even get on my ribs at all. Il keep at it im going to go back & try more kesa gatame soon as I can x
Dear friend, I would like that with your knowledge and with your videos, you will explain to me the intricacies of the technique of Truck (10th planet) as well as the way to escape it. Thank you

Both are so great! Thank you.
Do you have a video about
what shrimp to use in different situations?
Stephan Kesting: I signed up but not receiving any download info (neither in the junk mail folder). Thanks.
This wonderful clear instruction could not have come at a better time to in-grain these basic shrimping techniques demonstrated here.
