That spacey music makes me think I am on mushrooms
Awesome video! Love the info and the comparisons you show 🔥
thank you 🙏🏻
I use a A7s3. When I got the 50 1.2 I compared it to Sigmas 24-70 and Tamron 35-150 50 mm range and that GM 50 is special, not only on bokeh but over all image quality. I was given that 50 as a gift though, I don’t think I could ever bring myself to pay for it when I could get the 1.4.
yeah the 1.4 is a really good alternative plus I think the price is fair for what you get! can’t wait to see if a updated sony 85mm will come out soon!
My favorite 50mm ever! Most used lens in my kit!
definitely enjoy using my 1.2! i’d be interested in seeing if Sony makes a 85 1.2!
YES YOU CAN, fast reliable autofocus, the focus is not loose as at 50 1.4 gm, the coatings on it, resistance to flaring and the price is not falling down as in 50 1.4
that’s true I completely forgot about flaring, i’ve been so pampered by my 1.2 that I forgot all the great qualities of the lens!
I got my F1.2 2 days ago and from some photos I've taken, I think it is what it is sold for - sharpness all around and ability to use lower ISO without the need to raise the exposure in Lightroom.
I was sold on the point of sharpness but no one mentioned it was heavy 😂 #graduationpresent
I probably will keep 55mm for video work and other casual outings.
the 1.2 is way heavier than I expected lol i’m glad you’re enjoying the lens the 55mm has been so reliable for so long as well!
This guy knows his stuff
much love appreciate the support 🙏🏻
Thanks for the insights! Helped me finalize my decision to opt for the newer 50mm. Also wanna mention the new 50mm 1.4 gm has the same 67mm diameter as my 24mm 1.4 gm, so I wouldn't have buy another set of peter mckinnon VNDs lmao
hey jon, glad I could help out! yea the VND would be the final answer to go 1.4 I have polar pro VND’s also and I wouldn’t want to buy another pair lol
I have it . Great super great ..I also have the 20_200 2.8.
Sony
yes lens is amazing portraits always come out sharp stopped down & dreamy at 1.2
50 1.2 is a very specific lens. You don't buy it because you want everything in focus - you can get this with f1.8, 2.8 or 3.5 lens for a fraction of a price. This is a lens you buy to shoot wide open, for a very specific scenarios.
With that said, I am not sure I'm sold on this one. It's too technically perfect, bokeh is buttery smooth without any character, I don't feel the same 3d pop I feel with my old Canon 50 1.2. Which has much slower autofocus, and optically inferior to this Sony, but has some strange, unique character, it just somehow makes everything 3D. But I guess it's subjective.
you bring up really good points especially being this is a specific lens you buy for certain types of photos/videos, & yes the bokeh is nearly perfect as far as smoothness and while I like it, some inexpensive lenses I have that have flaws sometimes give more character that I love, & of course everyone has their own opinion on the lens, there’s certain lenses I don’t see the value where as others might praise them. good take!
Damn man! I just bought this 😢
my business partner could buy it off you, if anything he’s looking to pay retail with tax & shipping
music was too much, had to stop the video
seeesssssh very good lens.. but I get it
yeah love the quality but now i’ve seen this lens used for 1500 ish so not bad, still very expensive tho..
I don't use the 50mm 1.2 much because of the weight, I rather use a 50mm 2.5 G Master. The 2.5 G Master line weight nothing and are almost small like a pancake lens
actually haven’t tried the 2.5 g lens but I bet it’s great quality & nearly weighs anything!
good lens. too expensive, yes should of waited for 1.4
will just have to learn to be patient when gear comes out 😂
30mm is a 45mm equivalent
correct! I said 52.5mm I was probably thinking of my 35mm not the 30mm I used to have haha
music is way too loud man, it gets very annoying when trying to listen to what you’re saying, had to quit watching, i’m sorry
appreciate the feedback, yea.. I hear it usually I’m pretty picky on making sure it’s not that loud.. everything is a learning lesson though 👍🏼
