Story: I was 16 and seen this live. And as others have said, I was hooked, this started it all for me. After getting into them more, I was wondering "why can't I find a version of 7 nation army with that wild guitar solo?" 😂 In the infant days of TH-cam, I couldn't just look it up, and thought maybe I was dreaming how intense the performance was. After getting into them hard-core and rhen finally seeing this video again, I was shocked and awed that they launched into Death Letter lol. I didn't realize at the time it was 2 songs, but my love for them grew so much after finding it out again. The brass balls to go from their big hit to the deep cut live during a mainstream awards show... finally seeing him solo tonight after almost 20 years. So much love for these two
It's hilarious. There are two videos of this performance, the other one does not have the Beck intro. Why would you want to watch without Beck's intro?? It never gets old for me, either.
I listen to rap mostly… I think 💭 this is great 👍🏾. I finally understand.. I feel this song! This is one of the greatest rock and rolls songs of this decade. The seven nation army original.
Go deeper, you'll be glad you did; most interesting, genuine, out-there, unique rock band of the last 25 years. She is a goddess, he is an artist, together they are 1 of a kind
What a great intro by beck. And echoing what others have said, this may be my all time favourite performance of theirs. I absolutely am in awe and in love with how they only played half of seven nation army, and finished with death letter. Like what! I feel like the award show execs must have had an issue with it, like who was doing old blues covers at the Grammy’s? Maybe I’m wrong lol
i love everything about this fucking performance is A+. i was going into this thinking "oh it'll just be another seven nation army" thing. but no. if i was in that room, and i hadn't heard anything other then seven nation army before, i would've looked them up instantly afterwards
I like how the ending just cuts off the audio , like Beck just introduced the band and everyone including Tarantino loved it , nobody cares about these old hacks here lol 🤣❤
I remember watching this live when it aired. I had never actually heard Death Letter before this, thought it was an homage to Jimmy Page since I did know In My Time of Dying, but it's kinda the opposite, I guess.
61 yr old granny that loves WS. Just realized that Jack's pants are one leg red and one leg black...LOL. Meg is so cool. Oh to be young again and know then what i know now - I'd be dangerous!!
What a great copy!!! I've seen this many times....but this is better than what was available for ages. Just the fact it opens on a shot of Missy Elliot and Dave Grohl, knowing the both of them, as well as TONS of other people...saw this. Live. I bet they were all...very impressed. To say the least.
Quentin Tarantino approves
Apple Blossom appears in the Hateful 8.
@3:53 It's like his soul just leaves his body and something possesses him. One of my absolute favorite performances of theirs.
He went kind of the Marty McFly's way lol, still epic
The most accurate introduction
That greenish-coloured whiteout for a few seconds there was Jack assuming his ultimate form as a rock n roll god.
Just put them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now....
A few more years. They will be eligible in 2024
Pat benatar needs to be inducted and many others before the white stripes.....
The volume on my computer doesn't go loud enough for this masterpiece. Never gets old.

Id like to think that tarantino is the only one in the room who knew they were covering son house.

Death Letter is a Son House song.
@@BranceCrantly right, Jack White was covering it, Jimmy Page was referencing it, it seems.
@@imapishard Oh, gotcha.

"fucking catalina wine mixer"
Here comes something that only happens once
The sound that made everything white, not taking about color.
Incroyable !
Tarantino is all, "It's cool, ese."
I think John Bonham got reincarnated as Meg White
