  • Do you need kitchen or bathroom cabinets? If you live in the Denver Metro area, come to visit Bath & Granite at 4755 E. 46th Ave. Denver CO 80216. We have the state's largest kitchen and bath design center. www.bathandgranite.com
Association to see what would make us off those hinge not engage? You can see here's one that's not engaged and the reason is that this piece right here, this plastic piece needs to be brought forward for this component to engage on - it's a fix is just set this down and push it forward with the screwdriver and when this clips in it will then engage it so we think what could have happened as somehow maybe vibration or something like that. That piece pop back it's just this piece pops back you can see it's not very difficult to make it pop back this will no longer engage and this piece right here this piece this is what's on your cabinet when you pull it out you'll notice this is the piece that engages onto this plastics .
So this is all that needs to be on the draw itself this is on the cabinet. Let's slide this back on pull this out screwdriver now it's engaging and so I pull it out. If you will soft close on its own and that's not working let us know these are really easy to take out there's just two screws holding this to the drawer and two screws holding this to the cabinet. When you pull this out you'll notice this little plastic clip holds out we will slide the drop you just pull it in the opposite direction so in this one you pull it down and this piece slides out so it's really simple hopefully just a quick little adjustment to pull that piece out entirely. Sure if you need to take any screws off of anything you mean just need to take the drawer out and pull this back with a screwdriver might even be able to do it with your hands that's it.

7 YEARS AGO!! What a Gem 💎 of a vídeo. Just purchased a house and two drawers weren’t closing right, It’s been driving me crazy for three months!! That was until now, your video is short, sweet and to the point to fix it quick!! Thank you so much!

My soft close drawers stopped working properly about five years ago, about a year after installation. I took the drawer out and figured it was a bad instal, because the drawer would slide open about 3-4 inches after it was closed. I am doing my own kitchen renovation now, and as part of that project, I decided to look up the subject of soft close mechanisms that weren’t working properly. I had watched about 5 videos when I came across yours, and it made much more sense that the others, so I dove into it and had it fixed and working great in less than a minute. I thank you for that, BUT my wife was SO-O-O pissed when I told her how easy it was to fix (my mistake!). She wanted to know why I hadn’t fixed it for 5 years, making her “make-do” with the way it was. So, lesson learned. I should have made a lot more noise with a hammer and a drill and take a lot more time before I declared it a success.

Thank you sooooo much for posting this video. I'm building a big set of DIY garage workshop cabinets and for several days have been fighting with my drawer slides. Thought I'd installed them incorrectly. Went through just about every bad word I knew. Then I thought I'd check on You Tube to see if anyone had gone through this and - bingo - your video popped up. Thanks for sparing me more grief!

My cabinet installer said he would have to come look at the trash drawer to see why it had stopped "soft-closing". I knew that trip would never happen, so I started looking on TH-cam. After looking at a couple of videos that did not apply, I found this and It was the perfect solution!!! Thank you very much.

Looked at your video and it gave me the concepts I needed to fix my dual-can garbage drawer. The soft close mechanisms had retracted and I simply had to pull them forward to tension the spring. The garbage drawer has a different construction than normal drawers, but the concepts are the same. Thanks!

Oh my I think I just found the solution. I want to try it right now. I've been searching for info like this. Last time I searched I kept getting wooden dresser drawers and all sorts of other drawer issues. I had no clue that those type of drawers were called soft close. I have a 6 drawer dresser that everybody has been telling me to get rid of because all the drawers stop closing a long time ago. Not just a little they open half way out but I refuse to get rid of it I even called the furniture store where I bought them 11 years ago and nothing. So I'll let you know.

My problem: Both soft close slides are engaged but only one retracts all the way back. The other stops about an 1/8 of an inch shy which is making the drawer front angled ever so slightly. There is a hook like metal piece on the drawer side runner that slots into a hole on the cabinet side plastic slot (near that tab in the video you show). When the drawer is out, i CAN get the cabinet side to retract all the way but when the draw is in, it wont. Drawer is square. Any ideas?
