- Third Cyber Maze stage, also known as Zero Space or the Zero Virus stages, from Mega Man X5 for the Sony Playstation PSX. No damage taken, buster only. Here we have a relatively short and painless stage when compered to the previous cyber maze stages.
However, there are death spikes everywhere here so tread carefully. The boss is the character you're not playing as. Zero's fighting style is extremely similar to his X2 style. He spams his buster, which is two fully-charged shots followed by a saber slash that tracks X. As he did in X2, he also pounds the ground creating an aoe attack that covers nearly the entire room. When he begins this attack, dash to the opposite side of the room, farthest from Zero, this will allow for more time to recognize the spacing between the projectiles and position yourself accordingly. If you're playing as Zero, you will encounter X here, who pulls out the Ultimate Armor and proceeds to utilize weapons from X4. If Zero went Maverick, you will be forced to fight Awakened Zero, who's strategy and tactics change very little other than the addition of an instant-kill attack he will pull off if the fight takes too long.

Sliider I have 2 things to ask
1:How did you get music in Megaman version X,i like the music when X fight Zero.
2:About Zero's skills you think they are easily to avoid?I can avoid Zero's triple shot but can't avoid the ummmm...bullet from down screen made by Zero.
not sure what you mean about the music? the X vs Zero music featured here was the only song i thought played during this battle.
i think Zero was pretty easy here yes, hes more difficult in X6, although similar. there's two strategies to avoiding that aoe attack from below. the first one is tough, you can measure the distance from zero to the first safe spot, its always the same distance from him. if you have time when he begins the attack, you can dash to that safe distance near him. the second strategy works well if youre on the opposite side of the screen when he pulls off the attack. i didnt get a chance to pull off this technique in this particular video...anyways, since the energy balls come up while radiating from him outwards...so they start closest to him, then move outwards...if your near the edge of the screen you can simply dash at the right moment and slide underneath the balls as they move by you. so say your standing on the right side of the room, and zero is on the left side. when he pulls that off, the balls start near him and all move to the right towards you...at the right moment simply dash beneath them. its easier than it sounds actually.
It's like Obi-Wan vs Anakin in Episode III.

It's the moment everybody loves. The climatic battle between X and Zero. Only this time, you can play as Zero and you will indeed fight X, who goes full out in using the Ultimate Armor and the powers from X4.
Are people really love this version of X VS Zero though? It's very dumb and it's undermined the foreshadowing from X3.

I actually prefer using Zero when it comes to X4-X6.
Although I hate resetting until Zero lives.
haha same here I use Zero all the time in X4-X6 he is super powerful and has double jump I can`t finish X5-X6 without Zero I find X hard to use in some parts
Except that the shuttle is a Random chance thing and I found out the hard way because when it comes to this game i freak out because of zero
Zero's buster should have been destroyed from the first stage. Its funny that he still use it against X and it so powerful.
i remember trying my hardest to somehow find a way to make zero do all this stuff, only to find out it was all part of his secret ai moves and I'd never get to use them..... needles to say, I was heartbroken

Sliider Kind of lucky when you avoided Zero's Giga Attack. That attack can easily ruin a No Damage run. Neat gameplay, can't expect less from you, man.
Your strategy against Zero is impeccable.
I'm trying to imagine how hard this would be if it was Unarmored X vs. Awakened Zero with the two minute time limit

Have you ever been caught in Zero`s instant kill attack before? I have never been caught in it myself but I have seen videos of him using it it covers the whole room and not even nova attack can guard from it. heh is a powerful attack but no surprise coming from Zero.
1: Its called Genmurei (Literally "phantasm zero")
2: He executes it when 2 minutes pass in the battle
3: Nova Strike can tank through the attack, but that's just delaying the inevitable as Zero is invincible while he attacks you.
4: Only awakened zero can use it.

Kinda lame how zero seems to have only 2 attacks and never uses his saber for actual close range combat. Still though, him saving x at the end is so fucking amazing, definelty one of my favourite moments in the series

You should've used unarmored X in this stage to get the ultimate armor.
Zero was a maverick who wiped out garmin's units and attack sigma who was a maverick hunter now betrayed the humans and wanted to rule the world fighting Zero was easy when you use the X buster or power items from other mavericks X went to investigate the cyber maze and found zero infected with the Wily Virus and X was forced to fight him just like on megaman X2 when you don't gather all of zero's parts and the X hunters took him and rebuild him and come with sigma you have to fight zero before you have to fight sigma and the virus on that game
X was created by Dr Light, while Zero was created by Light's nemesis Dr Wily
Shocking moment when I was child, because at this mission, we must fight againts X's Best friend

i guess because they wanted a throwback, memorable, and difficult boss. well, they succeeded...and Rangda is even more irritating this time around. yeah that fight was stupid hard.

Why this zero has a big HP bar ? I thought its only happen when through a bad ending route (virus zero).

The endings are RNG based.
If both the Enigma Cannon and the Shuttle fail, Zero turns Maverick, and X has to fight him to turn him back to normal. Upon defeat, he sacrifices himself to save X, and becomes unusable for the rest of the game.
If the Shuttle or the Enigma Cannon succeed, you get to keep Zero.
The fight still happens, but under different circumstances.
Then this cutscene plays.
Actually this cut scene happened because you use x in this stage then zero won’t be useable after this. You can keep zero if if the enigma succeeds and use zero in this stage

This game was so awesome but terrible at the same time. The things they could've changed to make it 1000x better were SO simple too! NOT renaming the Mavericks as f'n GnR (god, I hate them as it is) is definitely top of the list. This is followed by Ayla being removed from the game. Hell remove all the side characters and replace them with actual worthwhile ones. The awful level design definitely is a big issue with the game too. Finally, this began the terrible trend of having to "collect all parts" of armor to use them.
Now as far as what they got right....the story was pretty good overall and WOULD have been a perfect wrap up to the series. The music was generally good, but this battle song in particular was one of the best ever in a Mega Man game (coming from someone that played Mega Man 2 as a young kid). It sucks the cons outweigh the pro's, but at least it's not a total failure like all the following X games.
