    In this video, I test and review the Metzeler 01 SE tires and the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, a perfect combination for handling and performance.
    I share my first impressions of the 01 SE , which are designed to offer excellent steering, stability, grip, and sportiness in varying conditions. I also show how they improved the handling of my KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, a powerful and versatile bike that can handle well on the road and on the track.
    The Metzeler 01 SE tires gave me a lot of confidence while riding, as they were able to handle most conditions that any rider would encounter on the road, including cold, damp patches. They also made my KTM 1290 Super Duke GT feel more agile and responsive, which was a lot of fun to experience.
    These are my new favorite sport touring tire, and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a high-quality tire that can enhance the handling of their bike. Watch the video to see them in action and let me know what you think in the comments below.
    As always, I appreciate all of you that continue to subscribe and ride along, stay safe out there!

    Its good to know that they are either on par with the gt 2's or exceed the performance of the pirelli's. i bought a new rear, and it's on the way, but i was worried i wouldn't find anything close to the angel gt 2s. Thank you for the video, man. i appreciate it. Ride safe out there brother 🤙

      Hey thanks for commenting, I'm glad this video was able to help. After testing these tires in temperatures as low as 30°f and up to 100°f, I have zero complaints. They handle well, and provide plenty of grip when on the throttle at lean and in wet conditions. I think you will be happy with your decision. Stay safe 🛵🏍🚀

      @averagemoto I was definitely on the fence with this brand as a hole since no one I know had ever had a set of them, but after seeing a few reviews and seeing you on your bike hit up the twisty's like that I was like yep that's the tire for me, since your on the Duke and your not having any issues my MT09 should have no issues commuting to work and hitting up the twisty's on the weekends 😀 🏍💨

      Haha I completely understand. Hope you're able to get a lot of fun miles out of them! Miss commuting on my FZ-09. Stay safe out there and try to keep both wheels down 😈

    The lines are no issue. I had the same on my M9RR, and we got connected to metzeler directly. They said it's not unusual, and won't effect the performance of the tires (at least on the Metzeler M9RR). You probably know that by now, but worth mentioning.

      Thats good to know, thanks for commenting. At first I was thinking it may have been a production defect caused by too thin of a layer of rubber used on the shoulder of the tire, but as you said it hasn't been an issue.
      How do you like the M9RRs? I've always wanted to try them on the R1 but they were always out of stock.

    • @Roy_Godiksen
      @Roy_Godiksen หลายเดือนก่อน

      @averagemoto The M9RR is my favorite sporty set of tires for street riding. I can power wheelie in medium rain, they stick like glue and thanks to the harder compound, then for example Bridgestone and Michelin, they get a lot less punctures than most other sport tires. The only downsides are slightly longer warm-up times (30 seconds more than on the S22), and the more rounded profile. A rounder profile makes the tire very linear and stability is amazing, but some people like when the tire drops into a corner, in stead of gradually leaning. I've had 2 sets of M9RR's on a ZX10R and a Z1000SX. And I consider them the very best sport tire for street use in all conditions. I now have an S1000R, and I got a free set of Diablo Rosso IV for testing (I work as a tire expert at a BMW and Honda dealer). And although the Diablo Rosso IV's are fantastic. I'm over tireing. I kan never use all of the tire unless I go on track. Even with pretty speedy rides on familiar twistie roads, I still have almost a 5-6cm wide patch on each side of the front tire that never gets used. I've almost gotten to the edge on the rear. About 1cm left. That's going deep knee down's. I'm looking to try the new Roadtec 02 for my next tire. They're said to be almost as good as the M9RR, but rounder profile and not quite as fast and light.

      @Roy_Godiksen Thanks for sharing your opinion and insight, it always nice to hear what a professional in industry thinks 😎🏍.
      I agree and will definitely have to give the M9RRs a try. I too prefer a smooth, gradual tire tip in when nearing the edges and have found that the Q3+s loose that confidence inspiring feeling after the first 1000 miles or so of leaned over riding. The M7RR was my go-to before the Q3+ (which had replaced my use of the S21 at the time). As you mentioned, the Metzeler felt more linear and kept that feeling throughout its entire life, which is something I haven't experienced with the Q3+s.
      I've haven't run the Rosso 4s before, but that's mainly because I like a compound that is a bit more firm to compliment the slightly lower pressures I tend to run and a bit more siping, but there stickiness from the get go is very tempting. My only complaint is the price being a bit higher here in the states when compared to a pair Bridgestones or Dunlops, but like anything, quality cost!

    No I wouldnt describe it as feeling planted😅, just not loose or scary. The track was cold and the corners were short and slow.

      Haha well it still sounds like it handled pretty well considering it's size.

    Great review. I loved the Metzeler M7RR and M9RR tires but wanted to know what their touring line was like.
    I'm thinking of getting back into riding next year. Seeing you go from R1 to a Duke GT makes me think I should go to a naked or a sport touring bike.
    I had a RSV4 before and went to a Multistrada 1260 before I sold it. The Multistrada was fast but it just did not have the cornering stability of the RSV4. Was quite sketchy feeling in comparison.
    Watching your vids, I'm thinking Superduke R or Superduke GT might be the way to go, although the KTM reliability does kind of scare me.
    Anyways, great videos! I probably watched all of your vids by now!

      Thank you, I really appreciate it! 😀
      In the past I've ran several sets of the M7RR on my FZ-09 and R1, they were a great tire and I wanted to try the M9RR but they were always out of stock, so I tried the Dunlop Q3+s and haven't looked back since. The Metzeler 01SE is a great handling tire, I'll have to see how many miles it last but so far no complaints. The stock Pirelli Angle GTs were a great tire, but I like these better.
      You should definitely get back into riding, there are so many different bikes available now. I chose the SDGT because I wanted something that could go far (300 mile day loops) but still be fun, comfortable, and capable on twisty roads. The SDGT exceeded my expectations with its sport bike like handling in corners (when suspension is set to "sport), and is deceptively quick. As you mentioned, the reliability of the KTM had me concerned coming from all Japanese manufactured bikes, but so far no issues.
      If it helps, the bikes I considered before the GT were:
      •Ducati Multistrada V4 pikes peak
      •BMW s1000xr
      •Aprilia Tuono
      •Ktm 1290 SD R
      Thanks again for riding along, I'll try to upload a pros and cons video of the SDGT soon!🛵🏍🚀

      Haha those are all the bikes I am considering right now. Although the BMW M1000XR coming out is the most tempting but it is $$$$.
      I did own a 2017 FZ-10 for 5 years and put on almost 40k miles with zero issues but once I got a taste of euro bikes its just hard to go back to Japanese bikes for anything other than reliability.
      😁

    • @averagemoto
      @averagemoto  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@dustyturkey Haha yeah the prices are beyond ridiculous now. I really wish Yamaha would take the MT-10 SP, make it a bit slimmer and improve its handling to be a bike that can stand out more performance wise in the naked class and maybe transition to a sport touring bike.

    • @dustyturkey
      @dustyturkey 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@averagemoto Yeah thats the thing about the Japanese bikes. They are great but the euro bikes are just have that edge in handling, braking, cornering stability, ergonomics. Makes it tough because you want the riding experience Euro bikes give but with the reliability of Japanese bikes. I've lost many nights of sleep thinking about what bike to get because of this LOL

    • @averagemoto
      @averagemoto  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dustyturkeyhaha I definitely agree, Euro manufactures are giving riders the feeling they want. If only motorcycle test rides from a dealer could be as common as car test drives! It always feels like a leap of faith before knowing if the bike is what you were looking.
