In this thrilling sequel, viewers are treated to a more refined narrative, with fewer characters and a singular storyline that is easier to follow. While the first half of the film may drag at times, the second hour bursts with adrenaline-pumping action and intense sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
As Jet Li's character, Wong Fei-hung, navigates the bustling town, he encounters the menacing White Lotus Sect, a militant religious cult determined to drive out foreigners, particularly the British Consulate. With the White Lotus Sect wreaking havoc and committing heinous acts of violence, Wong Fei-hung finds himself caught in the midst of chaos, leading the charge to defend the British and his allies.

I agree about the Jet-Donnie fight. I was really expecting much more from seeing those two legends go at it.

Thanks for watching - yeah I wonder if there is some backstory on the timing and schedule that seemed to limit their fight scenes but either way they are fun to watch!

2 is better than 1, but I think that's because Tsui Hark was trying to make a Wong Feihung movie the first time and pour all the traditional elements in, which was maybe too much. The second one, he's making a Tsui Hark movie, with Wong Feihong flavoring. You get the rational, traditional Wong caught between the religious crazies and the encroaching Brits, being honorable, but in a more direct story. I'll confess that I was underwhelmed by both Chiang and Yen in this given the rest of their impressive careers, but it's fun to see Jet Li and Rosamund Kwan.

Thanks for watching -- yes I felt like Hark totally had more of a feel for things in the second film! And less of the screwball sidekicks which was a distraction in the first movie for me!
