Nice discussion of this Peckinpah western. I enjoyed this edition as well!

love your review. Not many reviews on this, probably due to the crazy price point. Would love to see a deep dive into the different cuts. Differences, what they bring to the table, and your favorite cut.

@@nickg9340 i thought that the newest cut was the best, they combined the better stuff from the previous cuts and left out the whorehouse montage from the longer cut. It’s interesting seeing the different cuts though. The mist pronounced difference is the opening scenes on all of them.

@@jefferysteen1041 The uncut version isn’t included here, may be similar to the new 50th anniversary cut. I would recommend it for the new transfer alone.

The other uncut version in this box set is called the final uncut version. It's the truest version of the movie that comes closest to Peckinpah's realization of the movie.

@@raymondhall3682 One the commentary track, the editors for the 50th anniversary edition said the Final preview Cut was the last cut Peckinpah did before the studio took the film away from him and finished the rest of the editing. But note Final cut hasn't been color graded and is really rough around the edges. The editors said that Peckinpah probably would have made additional edits to it, given more time.

@@raymondhall3682 The documentary about Sam and the making of the movie is fantastic!
