    Range Rovers aren't bad to own if you do your own maintenance- they're not hard to work on, especially if you get the previous generation (the L322). I had a 2004 Range Rover which had the BMW V8, and it was very easy to maintain. I bought it for $3000 with a bad fuel pump, replaced the fuel pump ($150), and drove it plenty. I also rebuilt the BMW V8 since it was leaking oil and the chain guides were falling apart, so that was about $600 in parts. After that, it was pretty much trouble-free. Mine had 160k miles and never had any issues with the air suspension.

      A jug and a towel, meaning he most probably did a "waterboarding the car" skit, given that the manual did go ahead and tell him to interrogate the car to find out stuff. More context, waterboarding is a form of hardcore torture/interrogation where the person being interrogated has their nose and mouth covered (usually with a towel/thick cloth) then water is poured over them to simulate drowning.

    I work at a body shop and we got one of these in last summer. They said that the headlights alone (nothing else) cost $2k each for the assembly. They charge two grand for a freaking headlight.

    • @DannysGarage
      @DannysGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That's pretty normal for most high-end cars. A new headlight assembly for a BMW or a Mercedes would cost about the same. Part of that is due to the technology used in those lights, and part of it is because they know that insurance will happily pay those prices.

    • @kelly00000111111
      @kelly00000111111 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      try looking up the price for a brand new set of manually adjustable HID headlights from a 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6, and you'll recognize that 2 grand for a new RR headlight aint that bad

    • @DannysGarage
      @DannysGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, headlights are just expensive nowadays, especially when it comes to HID headlights. Heck, even my BMW's headlights are expensive at $800 each (retail price), even though the car is 17 years old. That's why I just buy my headlights on eBay or Craigslist and just fix them up myself. You'd be surprised how many people throw out perfectly good headlights once they get all faded and yellow. A quick round of sanding and polishing makes those nasty headlights look brand new.

    • @sashoxxx
      @sashoxxx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Insurance payed $1900 for *A* headlight for my 2013 Land Cruiser 200.
      While I was looking at the pricing lists I glimpsed the headlight cost for the 2017 Lexus LX570 - $2800 per unit fully equipped.
      These prices.... no one can convince me that a technology that will be implemented in millions of vehicles for the said company, will cost a single person that much per headlight assembly e.g. That's absolute bonkers! Pretty sure that's like 200% gain per item for the dealer, and most like another 300% for the manufacturer himself.

    • @DannysGarage
      @DannysGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh of course not. If the headlights actually cost that much per unit the manufacturer wouldn't use them in thousands of cars. I'm willing to bet that a $2800 headlight unit actually costs the manufacturer something like $200 tops. But since the headlight manufacturers don't sell direct to customers there's always a huge markup. I have found workarounds to this though, like for my BMW's there's a Danish store called Schmiedmann that sells those parts at half the price- $450 for an HID headlight unit vs. $1000+ from the dealer.

    Look, every car breaks of something sometime. The solution is to keep up with its recommended service schedules and not to drive it like Ferris Bueller. Simply put, pay now or pay dearly later on✌️

    I'll just wait a couple of years to buy a Range Rover so it can drastically go down in price and get a bumper to bumper warranty

    A Range Rover will be my vehicle in retirement. It will cause me to be at the dealership 3-4 days a week a week and an endless source of “free” coffee.

    Plastic engine hats in JLR supercharged vehicles are some of the most galling considering what the engine looks like underneath it.

    These are a steal used ...I just bought a 2014 with 27k miles for 72 thousand original owner paid over 113k not including mark up (they were hard to get back in 2013 when the car was bought) people can't tell the difference they think it's a new 2017 lol
