    Cycling hack: bring chain links and a breaker on rides. Also bring plastic zip ties, they are strong enough to bond a chain together to gently ride home instead of walk. Plus zip ties are just handy as shit anyway

      Zip ties can work? I happen to carry zip ties in my bag I've used them for many things but never thought of this. Thanks for that

      @@onewheelisbetterthan2 yep I mean don’t go sprinting home on it but yes it will hold the chain together just long enough to get home if you gently ride, maybe loosen the chain a bit too so the teeth aren’t acting like a scissors , I’ve done this on a BMX back in the day before but have never had a chain snap on any 700c bike I’ve ever owned

      @@addvurtbikes yep I carry a tube a pump some tools and Allen keys water and I personally bring some joints a lighter a knife and a sling shot. Believe it or not the sling shot comes in handy more times than not. Also if I ride with anyone but myself I bring two battery radios in case the adventure needs communication.

      @@onewheelisbetterthan2 bro I bring joints too 😆few times I have rode past some fellas that looked absolutely miserable (homeless guys down on their luck) so I started bringing joints and snacks and extra water bottles to drop off to them. Sit down and smoke and listen to their story, this was in Arizona where cannabis is rec legal, and I always seen these guys out on the canal bike paths away from society, so it wasn’t a hassle for me to do this type of thing

    like your vids, here is a sub,, i only use Izumi Chains, best stuff, also buy a chain measuring tool, it tells you how much it has been stretched they are cheap and will give you an indication of the state of the chain before hand,,, ROCK on

    I’ve always argued that people who ride fixed gear bikes on the street should always use brakes, even if it's just one. Imagine going down a big hill and the chain breaks, or simply having a car in front of you, or worse, a child. There’s absolutely no reason not to use brakes, a fixie will always be a fixie, stop with the elitism.
    I'm just glad nothing serious happened.

    • @addvurtbikes
      @addvurtbikes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks dude. Yeah, I got lucky. And I agree that handbrakes on fixies are just pure improvements, but then again ive been riding the Skream brakeless the whole summer just because the brake I had in mind didn't fit the fork, so laziness sure has an impact on the decisions...

    • @flipfonte4069
      @flipfonte4069 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@addvurtbikes When I moved the brakes on my steel fixed-gear bike to aluminum, they also didn't fit the fork. Generally, aluminum forks are thicker, and I had to order a longer bolt nut from Aliexpress to be able to properly tighten the brake on the fork. Without a doubt, a fixed-gear bike is much safer with two brakes, in fact, there are actually three brakes, since the legs work like ABS system.

    First don't buy a cheap normal chain, get a strong single speed chain that is the correct width and keep it clean and lubed. I use KMC chain and use a wax lube and carry a spare link in my bag. Broken chains can happen on any bike, it is even worse if it can get tangled in your gears.

    • @addvurtbikes
      @addvurtbikes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lots of people are recommending KMC, so I will look for that. But this was a 1/8 sram chain that came stock on the fully built Ribble fixie, so it's not like it was a trash chain. I just used it for way too long and in harsh conditions. I will for sure start packing spare links, a piece of chain and chain cutter in my carry bag.
