Mine has a little over 400,000 on it and it's still nicer than 90% of em on the road, you are absolutely right, you gotta do preventative maintenance on anything mechanical or it will never last. ,oil, trans fluid, grease bearings and all grease fittings every month even if it doesn't need it, I change the oil monthly even if I only drive 200 miles since the last change. That's why I pass everyone else while they are sitting on the roadside wondering why theirs won't start. Common sense people ! You gotta maintain it, especially when its running fine and theres no problems, cause if you don't and just drive cause it starts and don't worry about anything unless you have a problem, it's gonna catch up to you in the end and the vehicle is gonna have a much shorter life than if you had checked and changed everything regularly. People are to onry to take a hour once a month and maintain their vehicle so in the end the car dies much sooner than expected, #1 rule of making your vehicle last , preventative maintenance , pop the hood and check the fluid people, unless you enjoy throwing thousands of dollars away

@@coinslotsandjoysticks2572 I'm a retired Master ASE tech with 40 years experience, I only say that to say this: sealed tie rod ends and ball joints are permanently lubed with synthetic grease and I have never seen one fail without first having a torn boot and I have seen thousands... The reason they removed those zerk fittings in the first place is because people busted the boots by over filling the joint which led to failure.

Now I suddenly feel better about my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4.0 with 249,500 miles. Thank you. They probably paid $300 to $400 at auction and turn right around put it on the lot for $2750. Yes, you should definitely test drive and inspect every vehicle before you buy one.

I don't understand what everybody's complaining about with this video. This is a guy who is pointing out every single imperfection with this van. He is stating over and over again to never buy something without having your mechanic check it out first, to never buy something without test driving it and looking at it yourself first. This is all good advice. We act like everybody's helpless and always a victim now in this day and age. In fact it's up to each individual to do their due diligence and not act stupid. Yes this van is a real pile, but for some people maybe $2500 or so is all the money they have and they can fix the leaking valve cover gasket and some of the other things that may be wrong with the engine and still use this van for several years. That's up to the buyer to make that decision on what's best for them. I have no problem with this guy selling this van. He pointed out everything and he said all the right things. Do your due diligence. Inspect everything. If you don't know what to inspect bring a mechanic who knows what they're doing to inspect it and that way you get all the information that will help you make a decision on whether something like this is right for you or not.

We just bought a Grand Caravan with 228K Miles on it--yesterday. We had an '03 that had 187K miles that we took great care of and would have had for at least five more years if someone hadn't hit it and totaled it. The new one runs great, some little battle scars, but no major accidents. It works for what we need! And yes, we looked at it, we test drove it, etc. And we made sure to leave some money for any repairs we need (like oil leaks, etc.), we know used cars are going to have to have some work and we have an awesome mechanic.

Another one of those ripoff dealers that buys cheap vehicles at auction's, fails to note problems with the vehicle and or purposely ignores any and all problems with the vehicles. Hides fact that there is problems with vehicle by failure to state, note, or hide issues. Then waits for the unknowledgeable person to scam sucker into buying it as is for their great deal ripoff price, then washes their hands of it as say tough shit to the buyers. These dealers need to have their licenses revoked to sell in that state for good.

"Runs good" you say, but for how long is the real question. I'd say no more than about $1500 given how much money would be required to actually get that thing to last more than 3 or 4 months. That's the real issue. You sell cheap cars, but it's not worth buying if that motor dies in just a couple months. Frankly that was just a bad auction purchase from your boss and so you then had to offload a hunk of junk onto someone else.

People don’t know -the Dodge Caravan’s the Town & Countries with the 3.6 L V.6 are Solid vehicles, solid engines if kept up and properly cared for. A car or van gets to have 100,000 miles on it then it gets sold then it gets sold again --by the third owner you’ve got a vehicle that’s likely being used secondary. People don’t keep up the maintenance schedule they ignore leaks, fail to do regular oil changes and in short order you have a hunk of trash yon 4 Wheels. I’d put a will cared for well-maintained dodge 3.6 L V6 up with any other engine on the market today. I have a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan with over 275,000 miles on it which I have cared for for many years. Still runs great and rarely ever fails me It is a second vehicle for me. But I’m sure I’ll have it around for another 50,000+ miles if I want to. I always receive compliments and accolades from my mechanic. Change the oil and filter regularly -like 3 or 4 times a year, especially if the engine has over 100,000 miles.

It's been a great van and still smells new if it gets alot of sunshine on it to warm up the interior.

I bought a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan the same color as the one you shown in this video for only $2,000 and it had 147,000 miles on it when I bought it just a couple of months ago. It's also in mint condition with only one dented spot on the driver's side door.

I have a 2008 well cared for Dodge grand Caravan. It is a piece of junk that about every other week needs a repair, despite the fact that I change the fluids and oil, perfectly on schedule, putting all new parts when it needs it. I don’t care that the engine lasts a long time, when I pay over $3000 in three months for other parts and repairs, for example AC system, brakes, traction control, seals, suspension, you name it. The transmission runs terribly, as designed. I keep it because coming up with the cash for a Toyota is like $6000 at one time, well I can pay gradually more for this piece of junk, but I don’t have to save $6000. No I will not get financing. Hopefully I’ll find a good used Toyota at a good price. Stay away from these vans Unless you don’t care about engine lights and other lights, warning you about things on the dash about once a month maybe.

This van was not worth $2750, even in 2018, with that many miles, and that much body damage, as well as leaking valve cover gaskets (about a $600-$800 repair) and bad tires ($400-$500) In 2019, I bought a 2005 Grand Caravan with only 118,000 miles for $2600. It was in much better condition, body-wise.
Also, no, I would never buy a vehicle without test driving and looking under the hood.
I once looked at a Jeep Liberty for $8k or $9k at a lot that looked really nice, and started right up, but when I took it on a road test, it wouldn't go over 40 mph on the insterstate.

I wouldn't sell that car in that condition, I got a 2012 with highway mileage 275,000 looks like you're still came from the lot with no damages and no foggy headlights the fluid has been kept up with. I got it this year for 2500

Finance company probably nixed the deal. Van most likely will need major work before the note is paid. They will then need to repo a non-running van that will bring about $100 at the scrap auction. Buyers credit will take a bad hit and the finance company will be out the money.

Coming across super shady talking about how customer got lucky, and I’m betting they would’ve still bought it after a test drive but then they wouldn’t have been able to unwind the deal and that’s why you are pushing test drives. The only test drive you should make is straight to a mechanic you trust when financing $2750 cars

  • @colepdx187

It's worth $300 as scrap, nothing more. The $2750 price is just made up by someone without any regard to the actual retail value of the car. Buyers should beware of car lots that think they're a car auction/salvage yard.

Normally I would be the one to say something negative about his cars being high priced and high mileage but really $2750 for this van with these miles is about what they are going for here in the Tampa Bay area...I am just surprised any dealer would want that turd on their lot..It just does not look good for them to try to sell a van that damaged...a few dings sure but that poor van looks like a soccer mom had a fight in the Kroger parking lot with another angry soccer mom that may have been in a larger suv! haha

Just to be fair to the van (I have an '03 with over 260.000 miles, still runs like a Rolex) Some old people like myself, a 64 years old stop worrying about looks. As long as it gets ya from point A to B, it's worth it

Ok. So if in South Carolina there's nothing saying you can return the vehicle. ¿How in the world did you accepted back after 1 week of been purchased. Specifically if the only problem was that little sludge you talked about. IT MAKES NO SENSE!!
I believe the problem was a lot worse for a customer to returned and get his money back.

2750 is ridiculous for that. Its got high miles, cosmetic damage, over 10 years old and its a dodge. 1800 at the absolute most is what that van should be priced at

Of course he brought it back, I'm surprised he bought it to begin with. With 200,000 miles someones just asking for trouble. I'm surprised it's still running and not falling apart with that millage and it's way overpriced. A friend just wrecked a 2002 with only 70K with very minor damage, $1700 was the dealer quote and the insurance company wanted to total it. All it needed was a bumper, headlight and minor paint on a scratch. Tells you what they go for.
Ok after watching the video what the hell made you think a Caravan in that condition was worth $2750, were you just throwing shit on the wall and see iff it would stick? I take my $500 quesstimate above back and go $100.
