    I see in the comments you said you may get to doing a video for the quick latches. I have search for it, but didn’t see it. Just wanted to make sure I’m not missing it. Going to be doing this conversion in the next month or two and would really like to know how the quick latches would need to be setup.

      I ended up abandoning the latch idea as it worked well with the original latches and 1" bar on the inside. If you do that you can't access it from the outside off the hardtop is locked. I have a soft top so not a big deal for me.

    Been waiting for an update on this. Wondering how you fit you retrofitted the latches . I did the same on my LJ but now tailgate has play since latches are tight enough. Looking forward for a continuation on this

      I originally went with the 1" aluminum stock to make the latches lock and I think I'm going to keep it that way. It's a trail only rig now so I'm not too concerned...I can just unzip a few inches and access the latches.

    Great job. Thank you. I have been thinking g of doing the same thing on my 91 YJ.

    Well that was pretty damn cool! Hardest part maybe putting those latches in the tailgate!

      You are correct. Still on my to do list. The problem is drilling a hole or slot for the retaining nut. In good time I'll get there!

      @@TheBFHGaragedid you ever make a video of you installing the new latches on the tailgate. Wanting to do the same to my Tj but unsure of what to do to keep it closed while it still being accessible from the outside while the top is still on.

      @TheBFHGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jacksonsummers402 I haven't yet. I put a couple of 1" blocks in the inside for the latches and it has done very well. I may still revisit it at some point.

    I hate torx bolts. After one got stuck on me when i bedlined my jeep (took out all backseat brackets/seatbelts) I declared war. I replaced every torx bolt I could find on my jeep. Windshield ones were also a pain, some needed to be drilled out. But no more torx!

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could have been any fastener.... the rust was what it was. I would have broke the head off of a regular fastener too lol. Torx has their place.

      @@TheBFHGarage yeah, probably for me too. But I didn't care. I was so upset in the moment that I replaced all of them with stainless steel bolts and anti-seize lol. Created more problems temporarily, but now they're all gone!

    Did you ever get the quick latches to work?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still haven't gottent to those just yet. They keep getting getting bumprf to a lower priority. I will look at them as an option again soon though.

      @@TheBFHGarage I've been wanting to do a CJ gate on mine but worried about figuring out a solution to latch from outside with my hardtop. Do you think the quick latches will work? It looks like there is limited space in the top corners of the cj to fit the latches. Thanks.

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Joekpshaw I got the idea from somebody else that did the same thing. They look like they will work fine. The hardest part will be fabbing a bracket to get them to work. If you get them, think it through thoroughly before cutting a hole! I've had enough questions on this I'm probably going to move it up on my priority list in order to provide feedback.

    • @TheBFHGarage

      As a "temporary" fix, I installed the aluminum spacers. They have worked so well that I'm trying to decide if I'm just going to keep it that way. They are completely out of the way.
