I've just started wild camping my self. I started just hiking for about a year. I love being alone. I don't start fires and I certainly don't leave rubbish around. It upsets me greatly when I see the trash left behind from others including dog poo bags.
The planet needs more folk like you Tim 👊 its such a shame people like this can't clean up when they leave 😒 great video buddy, keep up the great work.
It’s the one reason I’ve not been to the Snake Woods so far on my hikes around the Peak District. I find it sad that people feel that they can leave their detritus behind no matter where they go without thought for the environment.
We have been using a camper van for over 10 years and then came lockdown.... half of the places we used to stop off at we no longer can because of damage rubbish etc. They have done the hard bit carrying it there but cant be bothered to tidy up. We have a special place we go to and know the locals very well, one of them noticed a lot of energy drink bottles being dropped. One day he noticed the postman dropping of one of the bottles in the hedgerow so he saved them up over a period of time and popped them in the post box it didn't happen again. Shrewd man indeed...
Visited the Peak District last month and was really disgusted by the amount of camping and picnic rubbish. The Peaks are known for lovely caves everywhere, but every little cave you’d had a look in on a walk was full of rubbish, human faeces and toilet paper. What the hell is wrong with people.
I always hang my trash bag on my pack on the way down from kinder. Trekking poles make great litter pickers. Tissues, wet wipes, drinks bottles. They take it up there and seem to think it will find its own way to a bin. Boils my piss
Happening all over Tim, Ben McDonald done a video over at Tigers Clough in Rivington, and it was a tip. I see it there all the time as I live 10 minutes walk away in the centre of Horwich and the main issue at Tigers Clough is it’s right next to Rivington and Blackrod High School and kids cut through and hang about there on their way home from School.
Bloomin do gooders cleaning up the country side. joke.. You did good mate. I would need a skip for some of the places i go in south wales. Fly tipping is out of control here. Keep up the good work. 😉
Snake Woodland is notorious area for people with no love for nature (been like it for years), but a love to get high, drunk, start massive fires around tents that are setup and left when they leave. The issue is one, that it is near snake pass road with an area to park your car. Two the lack of enforcement by the forestry commission to get down there at weekends with a lot of wardens and 'educate' these 'individuals'! I spoke to a local farmer and she does not view such people as genuine hikers or wild campers, she says they have on their land experienced these sort of individuals and groups of individuals with their thug like mentality. She stated her son, caught some on her farm starting a fire in high fire risk season. He told them it was private land and to leave. He got abuse and threatened. He quietly walked away, made a few phone calls to young farmers in the area and went back. I will not say what happened in the next conversation, but least to say the group of thugs left with their tails between their legs and never set foot on that land again. The landowner of Snake Woodland is to blame to a certain extent by not taking measures to deal with this. By letting folk do what they want, without consequence, it empowers them to continue. You will never see these type of individuals make such a video as this th-cam.com/users/shortsDC3o6It5tcU?si=qArLpOYz6-dm59rs
There are a lot of wild campers who are decent sorts but yes, there are many that look upon it as a night on the beer and to hell with what damage they do.. those types are trash wherever they go. Boilsd my p*ss . Sadly as you pointed out the lockdown period attarcted the wrong types to our geat outdoors. Have gort nothing against everygreens Tim but a natural woodland would lok so much better. one of the downsides to conifers are the soil damage they do... you go into any thick conifers forest and the light does not get into the soil and soon it become a barren arid landscape that does not support vegetation. Nice to see you out n about on a bimble. Well done on the clean up. atb Al
I really feel that the problem has got worse and worse since lockdown, I know it's a minority but it affects the majority. Fully understand your point and woodland management and agree it's better for the environment, I'll just have to travel further to get my evergreen fix :D
Unfortunately I dread to think of the amount of human waist 💩 is around the woods now ; I’ve not been back since the 80s when I used to live near there ; it’s upsetting to see so much damage though .
We've had the Country Code since the 1930s, but I guess it only applies to those willing to read it...look on the bright side, no loo roll and poo at least! Can you imagine all of England having the right to roam? At least Wild Camping is only 'allowed' on parts of Dartmoor...(for now), but I heard there's rumblings of discontent up north at the moment about it.
Ban visiting the countryside, Lore, that's what their "Green Agenda" is all about, the importance of nature being elevated above the importance of everyday people. Anyway, their 15-minute cities are all marked out now, nationwide. We'll be restricted to those areas and punished if we leave them without permission, as they already do in communist China. They haven't build all those new mega-prisons, (with their own massive mortuaries and crematoria facilities), the length and breadth of the United Kingdom for nothing.
I blame utube videos for attracting the worst of society to the outdoors and giving away locations and where to park your car, I am so thankful that I got to do all my off grid camping before the internet was invented.
Hi, it’s quite a shame that people are treating the National Park in this way. Let’s be brutally honest if people can’t respect our are national parks maybe we should adopt the Americans system. What they do in their national parks and have a permit system and designated camp areas backed up by hefty fines those who disobey the rules
Firstly you'd have to find people in the act of doing 'wrong' which means staffing and patrols - or snitching on people, I thought the US park permits were relatively new, due to overcrowding, along with the new parking 'facilities and upkeep' charges - but I only know from what I've seen on HikingGuy. At least in the US you have BLM land to do your 'thing'...
I live in Sheffield and the Peak District is my happy place and I see this far too often now. I think a lot of it is down to TH-camrs who have fires and it encourages the idiots doing the same. I go in grenoside woods a lot and find fire pits everywhere and it boils my piss.
Not click bait in my eyes. I see a person of strong character who truly cares about nature. Thank you Tim.
Thank you Debbie, that is such a kind comment, I hope you and yours are doing well.

It's these type of people🤬 that are destroying the wild camping community. Good on ya for showing this 👍🏻
It's so frustrating, the issue just seems to be getting worse :(
It’s not a community though. It’s individuals doing their own thing, some treating nature with respect, others unfortunately not.
Though, wild camping is only permitted on areas of Dartmoor and permission land.
It’s the one reason I’ve not been to the Snake Woods so far on my hikes around the Peak District. I find it sad that people feel that they can leave their detritus behind no matter where they go without thought for the environment.
As always great content Tim and looks a wonderful location and well done for doing your bit for the Woodland and the Wildlife

well said Tim, totally agree. I shall put a bin liner in my bag from now on

Don’t feel uncomfortable. Lead by example. When you show the way, hopefully others will follow. Good job.
Your a legend for doing this mate really gets me angry when I see crap in the beautiful countryside just no need for it hey !!!

Awesome video!
I'm hoping this was left by mindless kids off school & not wild campers with values, thanks for clearing up you have my sub 👍
snake woodland has been like that a while and really needs wardens

If it isn’t looked after they will find any excuse to ban it
ban what?

I’ve noticed the snake gets dirtier and dirtier every year .
It baffles me
Teenages moan about the planet whilst leaving rubbish behind
Festivals are a perfect example
I get exactly what you mean! The some very bizarre folk how fail to practice what they preach.
@@timday Leave no Trace 💪
it breaks my heart to see this. I never use a camp fire. always use the esbit and bio ethanol. no need for a camp fire in my opinion.
Such a shame people leve there crap they take it with em why not take it back some folks dont deserve our planet 😢
love it.

You've obviously not read the England Right to Roam 'manifesto'...give it a go I bet you'll be impressed.
Right to roam ,but not right to trash@@LoremIpsum1970
