    It's crazy. He's not even a full time cup driver but he's probably more recognizable than the majority of the drivers in the cup today. When's the last time a driver has won over fans like this so fast?

    • @joshuapowers4623

      Why's it crazy? It's gotten 100x's the press coverage in a month than the majority of the cup field has had ever. It'd be crazy if he wasn't more recognizable.

      Maybe the brand new short attention span Nascar fans! Who was Lee Petty, who was some guy named Flock, how did A man named Fireball before Fireball Friday end up? JD McDuffie. David Marcus. Do you even know how Nascar began! That's OK, Nascar seems to have forgotten too.

      @@jameseubanks1817 none of those drivers are racing in the cup today so I'm kinda confused by what you are trying to say. All I was trying to say is, in my opinion. That I think it's rare for someone to have only raced one race and have such a positive impact to the sport.

    As an American Supercars fan (insomniac), some of the greatest racing I've ever seen was SVG dueling with Scotty McLaughlin a few years back. He'll definitely be a fan favorite and have a lot of success in NASCAR, and given how comfortable Scotty has become on ovals, I can't imagine it will give SVG any real trouble with a bit of experience and time. One of the best drivers on the planet, Supercars' loss is our tremendous gain. Quali'd top ten at Indy earlier! Glad to finally have someone to root for in NASCAR.

      @wayneblackwwell6439 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@scapegoat413 How did the shortened race advantage him to win? If anything it was a disadvantage as after his pitstop he rejoined the field in 18th spot, behind all the top NASCAR drivers.

    • @Cynthesis21
      @Cynthesis21 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if he was the literal best closed wheel road course driver in the world, that would not make him the best closed wheel oval driver in the world. He is pretty newby in ovals. If you think road course racecraft skill translates 100% to oval, it's because you are relatively inexperienced as a motorsport fan and probably don't have any road course or oval experience yourself. Since you don't have the experience to understand the skill involved with ovals, you will see it once SVG starts regularly racing in ovals and doesn't perform as well as you assume he will. Ovals take a lot of knowledge specific to this form of motorsport, but I think SVG can get there. I'm hoping he can actually win on an oval unlike Ambrose.

      Leigh Diffey is the lead commentator for the Indycar broadcast, you should watch some of that when you get a chance. The 2023 Texas race was one of the best oval races in the series' history, and Barber was probably my favorite road course of last year.

    • @Lana_Warwick
      @Lana_Warwick 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UNHchabo Good move for him, never would have made it down here, Aussies prefer commentators with personal race win experience behind them. Leigh never raced cars.
      I've tried to watch oval races a few times. I get the challenge of keeping it on the track, etc, but I like both left & right turns, challenging tracks like Bathurst.
      Guess it's what we grow up with, others prefer F1 or rally

    This guy did not fairly win the NASCAR race at Chicago. It was handed to him when NASCAR knowingly shortened the race taking any opportunity for the first eleven cars to win the race. They especially cheated Christopher Bell who had dominated the race to that point. It now appears that it was all a set up to promote Shane Van Gisbergen. Probably to bring big money to NASCAR. NASCAR is a clown show. It's more like championship wrestling than state of the art racing.

      Shane was dropped to p18 after his final pitstop, after running in the top 5 all race. Reducing the number of laps meant Shane had to come through the field, /how was that an advantage?
