Love the regularity of your videos. Excellent !
Thank you very much!
Interesting about the promotion re off-site ads.
You may remember that I did an experiment in Q3. Off-site ads were part of the experiment. On my main shop, over 3 months, I spent £0.00 on promo's - no coupons, nothing. Just to see if anything changed.
And it did!
I had more sales compared to the previous period, with a higher revenue percentage.
And... whilst on three different websites, at different times, my OWN item was being advertised - the same item on all sites.
There was only one of them on eBay, so it was easy to spot and know it was mine. It sold without offers.
So, I've stopped EVERY promo eBay shoves our way on both shops and am now only doing offers, and it's working a treat! Don't know how long it will last, but making hay whilst the eBay sun is shining this way.
Very interesting
Yeah the ads are a complete waste of time. Glad you guys keep it real and don't mind telling people the truth about these things. I see a lot of eBay youtubers sucking up to eBay and saying things you know they cant really believe are true or sensible. Etsy launched their ads a few years ago and WOW what a utter waste of money they were too. All of these companies run these ads anyway, they are just trying to claw back their spend from the users and on top of that I'm sure they take a huge cut of that money. Of the £7 you spent I bet eBay kept a pound or two themselves. I have no doubt you would have made those sale anyway so its just a waste of time and money.
Yeah we had those Etsy ads running too, I’m sure all of this stuff works when a particular set of circumstances align, but it’s never often enough.
Y’alright guys, I’ve been enjoying the recent videos with the interesting stuff at the beginning, rather than having to fast forward through the picking stuff to find it 👍🏼👍🏼😃
Cheers Neil, you missed the book we sold then…
I often wonder where to put the sales but think this is probably the best way. No need for a poll any more then!
You have to laugh at ebay stating 'keep it simple' when they are talking about their promoted listings / off site ads etc etc etc when now compared to a few years back it has got so mind boggling complex.
So true
Hi Simon, Great breakdown of the offsite adds, definately an area to be aware of when it comes to costs. just another example of eBay passing the costs to us with limited to no control over what we are giving them money for. They really need to up their game and move towards seller friendly practices. Hopefully the new battle with Vinted will start to see dividends for us sellers
Not being able to remove certain items from the offsite campaign is just crazy
Hi Simon - you can register with Vinterior as an individual seller and sell a small amount of pre-owned furniture and homeware. I don’t think you then have to be a business. 😃
Yes, I think the confusion was that the processes we described in our video aren’t available to private sellers.
I tried to register as a professional seller and was told I couldn't as my small business is not VAT registered.
Not heard of this and their terms state “It is a legal requirement to provide an invoice showing VAT details (if applicable)” so that wouldn’t suggest it’s a requirement. We love selling on Vinterior but their CS is very varied.
I had a one - 0.43% Late delivery rate last week for an item that was taken back to delivery office on 26th sept, they didnt collect until 4th oct..they auto deleted it just yesterday..It was only a T shirt which could have gone through the letter box..
Good it got auto removed 👍
I have never understood why intelligent businesses pay ebay for promotions and adverts - its simply not and never will be cost effective.
You're selling the same painting for £150 on Vinterior and £54 on Ebay ?
Either it's over priced on VInterior or under priced on Ebay .quite a price discrepancy ...lol
Yes, we don’t tend to price change on Vinterior too often, so stuff stays at its original listed price for much longer.
