A lot of pain being felt in the reselling community worldwide not just here in the UK, could be a lot of reasons for it, but my own feeling is that the cost of living is eating into everyone's discretionary spending.
It IS due to ebay making changes to the platform. Their constant tweaking definitely affects selling.
I have been on it from the start and i find it hard going
Endless changes that no one wants or needs
my sale have gone down about 40% for last 6 month.
I know six people who have ditched eBay in one week alone, that's just me. I think people have had enough of all the messing around.
There is always an impact when major policy changes happen... it doesn't surprise me to be honest
I ve been a business seller for past 6 years and have never had such a bad month. Sales dropped of a cliff in past month by 45% dont know what ebays playing at but you would think being q4 the items i sell toys / games would be flying out. But no. Good luck guys
My sales have tanked since last Tuesday, I have a feeling ebay are tinkering & pushing the new private sellers accounts, so weird its been dead since they launched no fees. Still listing the same 10 a day everyday
Exactly the same here, I've had one sale since last Tuesday, I have contacted ebay but nothing wrong with my account apparently. I think they have most definitely changed something
@@rowanandmoon5445 No doubt they are pushing the private accounts to get more new sellers on ebay. I know 8 other business sellers we all sell different types of items and been dead since last Tuesday, def not a coincidence.
Also seen a few you tube guys saying the same, it just doesnt add up to be a blip. Def something going on in the background. Just gotta keep listing I suppose, bloody frustrating thou
Regarding the plastic draws, potentially the frame can come apart in sections, you may be able to remove one level and place the topper back on.
ooooh - I'll take a look
I am so glad to see someone else has drawers full of useful stuff that other people call junk. Doing OK and sticking with ebay x
Quickly skimmed through the comments to see if anyone else had suggested this! Before i did. 😂
I drive a cab for a living. There are definitely less people going out at night at the moment. I think there is just a shortage of spare cash. We just have to keep grinding and trade through it.
People holding back cash for Christmas too maybe...
Bills are going up so less to spend
With all due respect you're selling low end junk.
Decent antique items and genuine collectibles will always hold their value whether you're a private or business seller.
You're scraping around charity shops buying board games and coffee cups expecting to make a living.
Expand your horizons, buy a van, put in the physical work, spend money on advertising for house clearance work, you reap what you sow 👍
For someone that's been selling on ebay for two decades + you're falling remarkably short.
You're buying in CD,S in charity shops, 3 for a £1, 5 for a £1 etc
Scraping pennies from polly pocket or a kilo of Lego.
All stuff anyone can do, and are doing in their hundreds of thousands.
To build a valuable reseller business requires investment and advertisement.
When did he show you his bank statements? How on earth do you have any clue what he makes? A few days of slow sales doesn't mean he's about to start taking out loans to survive 😂😂
Troll ... He's got a mortgage free property from selling wares on eBay. He's only probably doing this now for leisure.

As you where 👍
I'm happy if you're happy 😁

Not a troll.
Offering genuine advice.
Take it or leave it 😎
@raalaa121 how are you sure of this? Suspect a strong yourube presence helps and other investments. Being mortgage free from reselling alome from charity shops and boot shops is highly improbable and unlikely
Yes. Once again eBay has shafted business sellers. Offer system not working, page hits massively down and we are still charged huge fees!
I'm a business seller and yeah my sales where abysmal last week too. Edit: just had an email from ebay offering "sell pre-loved clothing for free this season" "We wanted to let you know about a limited-time opportunity for business sellers like you to sell your pre-loved clothing for free until the end of the year. All you need to do is opt in and sell your items that are in a ‘used’ condition. As soon as you’ve opted in, you won’t pay any insertion, final value, or regulatory fees through 31 December 2024. "
Im a private seller and my sales have gone through the roof since the fee change best its ever been.
Good to know the sales are happening somewhere :)
Ditto!! Just signed up for the monthly coupon too, and then ... dead.
No coincidence that today I've made more on Vinted than ebay for the first time ever... can't help but think ebay are slowly killing their platform.
I like to think we are in a period of change and when the dust settles it will all settle back down.... only time will tell
Nic - my brain would have had me printing the labels out on my Munbyn and not handwriting. I made some labels for Ricky Lee's drawers and posted them to him as he had written A-Z on labels previously!
I'm too impatient for that LOL and I kind of like the handmade look
Cheers Nic 😊 Fingers crossed it picks up soon 🤞
That kongman is so cool, I picked up a vintage donkey kong board but it had bits missing gutted.😢
Sales have been terrible for me so far this week
Yes very low sales for me too. Not just eBay though, all other platforms I sell on appear to have dipped. Can't see or think of any particular reason.
Perhaps people are hard up!
@@MayfairMagic I think that is part of it for sure but don't think it would explain a sudden drop. I'm not worried about it, usually picks up again and the reasons remains a mystery!
The cost of living crisis, food going up, electric jumping up 10% people saving for Xmas, fuel going up luckily for me ebay is a hobby not my main income, I don’t rely on it, it’s going to get worse wait until the budget end of October then you,ll see a dip, as there will be lots of bad news we keep being told, benefit cuts, vat increase, petrol going up 15p a litre, vat going up, there are very many reasons of late
Replace top draw with bottom that way you can probably store a small box in gap.
Glad its not just me.. 2 Sales on Monday, 1 yesterday which was then cancelled, this is with a store size of just shy of 700. Thank god for Vinted.
why not have the missing drawer at the bottom of the stack, that way when you look at them, the missing one won't be so obvious and you could store some larger items directly on the base/floor if you needed to
I mostly sell warhammer around being a stay at home father. I tend to find I have a monthly trend where 2/3rds of my sales happen between the 20th - 31st of each month.
However....i am aware of lots of people selling on ebay now its fee free....so I suspect there is a level of the market being temporarily having more sellers than buyers. I've also noted that vinted bargins have decreased. I'm using this as an opportunity to do more buying on ebay. However i am aware this is a fairly narrow view of a very large market.
You're not alone.
Pretty poor for the last week or ten days.
It will turn around, always does.
Amazon! Simple, and no cost returns, I always used to use eBay, but far easier using amazon and less hassle
no cost returns is a myth, its all factored into the price. I always find everything more expensive on amazon
My first thought when you appeared on screen was that you hadn’t shaved your beard off like you said! And when you were looking for the biscuit barrel I thought ‘he put it on the top shelf in the other video as it wouldn’t fit elsewhere…’
LOL - you know where my stock is better than me.... and the beard is STILL THERE
:)
I'm a private seller and only sell the odd item about once a week. Haven't sold anything in the last 2 months. I have to keep checking just in case I've missed a notification.
My sales have stayed constant the last couple of weeks
But I don't know why I am getting blamed for your sales nothing has fell off me lols
LOL all your fault Cliff as per usual :)
I loved playing kongman. Thanks for the memories lol. Makes me feel old(er).
Sales have been dire since last Tuesday, 1 sale in all that time. The Ebay television ads, but they are advertising aimed at sellers not buyers, I appreciate what they've said about sellers are more likely to buy, but I think that can't happen quickly. They've got this very very wrong in my opinion.
Very slow for me and normally when It Rains my sales go up
my sales have gone from 200 a day to nothing for the last week
My sales have been poor for the past three days. 2000 item store with lots of high demand items.
Lets hope things pick up...
My sales are pretty dire too across all platforms, Nick. It starts picking up then just dies again.
It does feel like the consistency just isn't there these days...
Man that kong man took me right back to my childhood. Those things used to chew through batteries though
It was a classic for sure
I'm down 35% over the last week. It's always the same when they implement new features
It does seem that way for some reason...
I mean if I could turn 10p into 6 pounds, thats a pretty good trick.
The problem is you need to do that 50 times a day every day. Oh if only you could scale things like that, right?
They keep sending me offers to send on my goods then when i try to sent them it says oops and wont let me send them have you come across this think that is why my sales have dropped as i rely alot on sending offers
Yes I often have items that it won't let me send offers on despite the item being in my 'eligible to send offers tab'
When you post DVD’s, games, CD’s etc, what postage service do you tend to use? TIA
Royal Mail
@@NicHills Tracked 48? Or not always tracked?
Nick, how much does it cost to ship a CD or a DVD or Blu-ray there in the UK?
I feel like the cost prohibitive postage is what keeps media sales down here in the US a lot.
@richconroy5559 do you mean shipping within the UK? Single dvd/cd or bluray ship for between £2.10 and £2.70 tracked and boxsets £3.75. This is Royal Mail and there are cheaper options with other couriers. Is shipping expensive within the US? I buy a lot of media from there and shipping to the UK is expensive but I always get the impression that it's pricey within the US too.
@@allysonpatchett19 oh for sure it's almost $5 to ship a CD or a DVD now and that's with media mail which is supposed to be the cheaper option It's getting ridiculous.
my sales went down almost 80%
i used to sell roughly about 4/5k a month
Blimey!
Mine are too. I have contacted ebay, they don’t care. I just got a generic response saying it worked in Germany. I have traded on eBay now for over 13 years and this is how they treat us. 30 days and I am bulk selling my stock and I am out. Thanks eBay
Sorry to hear that
@@NicHills it is what it is Nic. It’s like trading the stock market and Crypto, everything runs it’s cycle. EBay is on its way down now in the market, my risk assessment is telling me to get out. Thankfully it’s not my main income.
Simple solution stop selling on such a rubbish site and company eBay
Well that's one opinion...
Its just a lull before Christmas shopping 🛒🛍️🙂
Hope so :)
I must be the only one where sales have remained steady ,no issues . It must be due to what folks are generally selling . As an ex H St seller the whole world of eBay and other online sales outlets are what saved me it great and never been a better time to be out there flogging your products .
Fantastic - glad sales are good :)
Be careful how you store your 9v batteries. 🔥
Great point!
Our sales last week were down 40% on any week in September, No gradual slump or warning..... As you say, sales fell off a cliff.
Wow!
You also have to remember people are saving for Christmas and pushing no fee private sellers would be silly as they make nothing. Also I dont remember the last ebay ad I saw
I've seen loads pushing the new Zero fees policy
Yep last weds was my first zero sales day in memory …
We had one too !! unsettling when that happens isn't it
i've only ever found 2 Kongmans - bit of a bolo that one
It's a fun one to test too!
List more sell more. my sales are up compared to last year, and the only difference is that im listing twice the amount daily.
Indeed, that is always my answer, sat and did 30 new drafts tonight - we are away for a mini break for a couple of days but will crack through the listing when we get back :)
Been OK for me in the past week but things go up and down for us all at some point for no obvious reason it seems
indeed - we have to keep riding the waves.
Thanks Nic
Same here...sold three items ?
I keep thinking my stuff is crap then sell random stuff ive had on for ages 😮
Take note free selling fees allowing ebay to create more business sellers , cost of living , steel industry , car industry jobs , effect of AI , end of month budget and yep seasons greetings ?
Hidden Figures was one of the best movies I've ever seen.
I'll have to watch it next time I find one
Pronounced Barhar not Barjar
Keep the beard Nic and shave off leaving a moustache for Movember... I'm sure your viewers would throw a few quid in if you did a fundraiser 💪
Is anyone going to acknowledge allllll the people who have been suffering and dying in the hurricanes and the mail delivery that may be suffering to others in the country because of it? I know there’s a ton of other people that shop but that absolutely affects the reselling. People are donating for elections and now donating for hurricane relief, not to mention saving for Christmas and buying Halloween stuff. Everything else logically is going to dip. It’ll be back up but can no one really see how the weather and horrible events have been and WILL continue to effect online shopping? Not to mention, Amazon and Walmart having big sales right now.
What hurricane? Haven't had one here in the UK
@@JasonJohnson-yu8zf although south east has a tornado warning for this weekend
I watched some reports tonight, horriffic scenes!!
Put an old car stereo in the gap where the top drawer should be Nic ? 🤣🤣
LOL
An old Cornflakes box with the front cut out, would make a most acceptable vessel in which to store nik-naks.
Have had a great few days for a change
Fantastic !!!
I like the look of the game
Slowest sales ever last few days!
We had one of our worst weeks for a while....
you're resting on your laurels and paying the price
Mine too
Who wants to see Nic play Kongman
Apparently next year eBay are going to charge buyer's fee.
I'll still want to buy an item for £5. I'll just take off buying charges when I bid
Aren't you the clever one?
@@CactusThorn I have a local auction house (RAMCO No doubt Nic & Andrea know about the place) that charges VAT and 20% commission on top of your bid. So, a £10 bid becomes a p**s taking £14
Yes i've heard the same - a buyers fee, hopefully they will remove the selling fees at that point!!
After the budget we will see a positive splurge of business activity!!
Ezekiel View
I’m a private seller (selling inherited bits from my husband’s grandparents home we’ve been left) and I’ve noticed since the fees went my sales have not just tanked but my stats have too. So I like numbers and I always look at my organic views vs promoted as I don’t normally do more than 2% promotion. It used to be my organic views would be much higher than my promoted. It’s now the other way around. It’s like they are trying to push people into paying higher promotional fees to make up for their loss of other fees. I don’t know if this is happening for all private sellers or business sellers too but it has certainly affected my views & sales. So this change might sound good on the surface not having fees but so far I’m yet to see the positive results.
Been a rubbish week/month of sales for me
Ever thought you are charging too much for your items ?
I try to stay competative on price - but I expect I get it wrong sometimes :)
The good times don't last forever.
Very true, neither do the lean times...
I recognise that I’m in the minority but I rarely buy on eBay. Maybe once every year or so. I find the site so un user friendly. I would love, as a consumer, to be able to choose which delivery company is used so that I can make an ethical choice.
That is something they are starting to bring in...
I blame all the new private sellers who are selling things a lot cheaper lol , you know how ebay is swings and roundabouts .
apparently they have been chucking a few off. one i reported is gone now :O
@@spodface12 How do you report them? There's a few competitors who are pretending to be private sellers when they're clearly a business
@@SharGamingHD i tend to go on the listing and report them via that with a comment. weather anyone takes any notice im not sure. but one has gone atleast.
