What a beautiful lady and a talented singer. I was just 15 years old when Kate rose to fame with Wuthering Heights in 1978. Some 45 years later I still love her music.

This is one of Kate's great songs - For me, this is better than "Wuthering Heights"; she had it all: the artistry, songwriting ability, the talent. the looks. It's a shame she didn't enjoy touring more, but, I guess, rare talent like this has to be rationed out to the masses, so they can really appreciate and absorb what they're listening to. Great stuff - thanks for uploading.

I often used to tell my ldr ex gf that she was sexy but she'd reply: "I'm not that much really", which just made her even more alluring and sexy to me. So yes, Kate Bush is the same, sexy without trying to be. Brilliant and extremely talented too.

Contrary to what it says in the
captions the "heavy people" she's referring to were record and music industry "heavies". Dave Gilmour who produced her first demo, for one.
She's referring to great writers who inspired her very much.
Absolute nonsense - she said in a 1993 interview the song is about profound spiritual teachers and 'gurus' that she learned about in sixth form RE, before she dropped out of her A Levels! She talks of Gurdjieff, Jesu and the Whirling Dervishes (Sufis)... how is that anything to do with record industry heavies?!?! Listen to the lyrics for heavens sake, it's all there word for word.
@@droge192 She refers to those as well . I read an interview with her talking about Gilmour and the people in the record company. Why else would she use the word heavy. In the interview she was specifically asked what the obscure use of the word heavy refered to. The references you talk about are there as well but that does not make what I said wrong. A family friend knew Dave Gilmour and he took Dave to Kate's parents place to see her. So the first verse "They arrived at an inconvenient time "etc and the fact she mentions that she was hiding is about the Gilmour side of the story. Obviously if she was going to do a song about how she started her career it would make be pretty rude of her not to mention the person that told her to stop hiding in the room in her mind , made her first demo and got her her record deal. She then "takes the opportunity "....So the 2 verses are about the 2 different influences. The business influences first and the artistic and spiritual second.
The summer of 1958 produced two awesome pop godess's KATE BUSH and MADONNA who were only born a few weeks apart.

She was very famous and she's an absolute legend in the UK but she's very introverted and private. She wants to live a simple life & to be known only for her art. Not to mention that she avoids interviews and album promotions

I'm thinking she's actually doing the whole song with no aid. The performance here - and her studio version - have definite timing differences between some of the words.

I don't think she's lip syncing - just that the video is out of sync. These vocals are not those from the album recording.

@@knutz7 You can see it was lip synced at the start of the song.Her recorded voice starts first and her mouth isn't moving then she starts to move her mouth .
@1manuscriptman Haha... it's clearly not live. This was not the expectation at the time during TV broadcasts.
Under Musician Union rules at the time, you were not allowed to mime to your record on TV, you had to re-record your song especially for the show, and mime to that.
It doesn’t actually sound like her lip syncing because this audio is not similar to the album, it seems like she is actually singing it
