I love the oil tank! It's got such a personality. It's oddly dainty and charming - something vintagey and cool about her. Evidently she's a she...I think if her as a Dorothy or an Esther...! Love the magnets idea. I could see using it as a layout board for quilt layouts kinda thing.
And fairy lights along the ductwork.
Marion is the real hero here. He's clearly handy as all hell.

So nice to see a craft room more in my price range! Some people post are gorgeous, but so often unattainable for many of us...not only cost wise, but also size wise. My first craft room was about the size of yours in our basement with paneling it was small without a closet, and with exposed rafters. I used them to my advantage and hung my numerous large and small baskets from them to store up and out of the way, with double duty as a decorative element. The room I have now is maybe a little smaller.
I have to say your room turned out sooo amazing! You have a good eye for making it look so good and so pulled together!
Enjoy your new dedicated space. It is so fun and such a calming feeling to have a place for everything.
First, I have to say that my favorite part was Ollie!! Hahaha! It was like he was saying she doesn't like it but I sure do! I was cracking up at him wiggling around. Hahaha! Your room came out so nice, and we have same color!! I remember many weekends were I would take over our kitchen table doing crafts, then graduated to a corner in the living-room. Now I have a larger space in the living-room but would looooooove a room to myself where I don't have to wear headphones to watch my shows on my computer while the kids or my husband might be watching something on TV. I know you will enjoy the peace it will bring you. OH!! And the idea to make the tank your backdrop, YEEEEESSS!!! Find a pretty sheet. Use your Cricut to make your Dorsett Doorstep logo and you can hang it from a rope or shower bar. You can even find nice inexpensive backdrops on Amazon if you want to change it up for holidays or seasons or events. VOILA!
This transformation was absolutely delightful! Girl you nailed it on so many levels! I love making something beautiful outta nothing!

I'm loving your room make over videos. You do such a great job with everything, and it gives me a little push to believe that I can do these things too. I have to tell you the truth...my favorite part of the video was Ollie rubbing all over the carpet. Pets are so funny; they need to leave their scent on EVERYTHING!
So light and airy and organized! I think it is beautiful. You have turned your whole basement into beautiful workable space and extra bedroom. A lot of sweat equity but well worth the effort.

Your new craft room is fantastic! There is nothing like a space of your own. Everything came together so well. The carpet Marion put down is just right for your space and the Cricut cover is so nice.

I love your realistic craft room! I hate looking at peoples craft rooms that cost so much. I’d have to take a second mortgage out on my home to have some thing like they have. So nice to see your beautiful craft room and to show people that it is obtainable without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.
He's not a professional sweeper, like you. HaHa! Ollie likes the carpet so it can't be too bad. It looks just fine and with the possibility of water damage it's the smartest way to go. Your sweet pets were the stars of the show today. LOL! Marion is kinda handy to have around. I love the desk!! Love how it turned out!!

You’re an inspiration! I too have a basement craft room though mine isn’t nearly as pretty as yours. The room needs to be completely gutted and most of the furniture replaced. It’s filled with castoffs. Nothing coordinates. It’s almost impossible to keep organized though I try constantly. But then I’m so lucky to have my own space. Many years ago all I had was a desk in my dining room and then I shared the room I have in the basement with my husband. Now it’s ALL MINE. I just wish he was as handy as Marion. I design my projects and he is my muscle. I don’t claim to be a woodworker so things are never perfect but we do our best. Just the other day I drew out the room on graph paper and cut out the furniture I want to keep out of graph paper also so I can move things around with hurting my back! I am also going to cut out pieces that represent ikea/target furniture so I can decide what to buy before I make a costly mistake. I especially want to design a craft table/sewing cutting table. Thank you for ideas. I’m sure this process will take a long time (finances, hubby time, etc.).

Hiya Arika. You have done so good. I'm thrilled for you to have an Arika space. We share many of the same likes. I love clear containers to view all we have, very pleasing to the eyes. I had made a lazy susan to store my glitters. Purchased S&P shakers from DT to display. Fan of vertical display too. Great way to see the ribbons & the paint caddy. Very lovely. All of it, every inch girl. You & Marion work beautiful as a team. Congratulations friend. Beautiful!

I have that exact carpet in my basement. It looks good and it’s durable enough to handle the zone. It’s easy to clean too. I clean them with a rug cleaner once a year. I love it. You can use a carpet tape for the oil tank area to help keep it down. Vacuuming is cake on it. I love your room. I love that you have space. I also love what you did on the wall with the wreath in the hallway.

Absolutely love this, I have a basement craft room, we are moving it to a different side of the basement. The place I was will become the TV room for my MR and Son. His office is on the back side of theTV room to be. I have so much to do and work on. I haVe tons of stuff and to do my 3 C’s. Clear, cull and clean. The entire basement is finished so it is another floor to our home. Which I love. I think I might need an area rug there rather thank the engineered flooring. Thanks. I love it!

I’ve watched many a craft room redo and I have to say I think yours is absolutely amazing. you did a fabulous job not only with making a beautiful space and taking advantage of some great bargains but I have to compliment you on your editing and what you chose to show! I really appreciate the detail of seeing a rug taken out a rug put in a wall taken down and yes your husband is very helpful! Seeing the actual work that goes into what you did makes me feel a little bit less intimidated by potentially doing a project like this someday on my own. Thank you!

I would stencil or paint Buffalo check on the old oil tank for thoughts on upcoming craft projects with some cool magnets to hold the ideas in place. It’s an awesome room and I wish I had one in my 769 square foot home here in Oklahoma!!!! Enjoy it!!!

It's amazing how you take a basement, cinder blocks and all, and make it so comfy and cozy. Most of us can identify with having that kind of basement, me included. My laundry is down there as well so I just put my blinders on when I do the wash (which I LOVE to do). What a gem you have with Marion! I love watching your videos. Your voice is so soothing!!
Such a beautiful room! I love the icy teal. I saw you has really tiny clothes pins a craft I had with mine was to paint the clothes pins any Christmas theme color and then get a matching bakers string and mini lights. I took too small nails and tapped them to the top of my kitchen door frame. I took the string and lights draped then around the nails then used the clothes pins to clip Christmas cards to them. It looked really cute. You could also take lights and put them around a mirror with clothes pins to capture inspiration or family pictures. One of the great thing that your videos do is build a memory bank for your kids. Your recipes, your crafts, happy memories. Merry Christmas!

Just a thought, if your oil tank is magnetic, you could put a magnetic wrap or magnets on it to change it up periodically and add color. What a beautiful craft room. 😍

It looks so cute. Love the the modifying you did. Gave me some ideas with what I have. Pulling my carpet and putting in carpet squares in instead. If I have a spill just pull up a square and replace it or wash is out and put it back down. Enjoy and have fun crafting. Hugs from afar (Utah) 😀

Your craft room is amazing!!!! I love that your supplies add such a great visual interest in your beautiful new craft room. I also really love the industrial look from the duct work and the oil tank will be perfect for a video backdrop. You should use your cricket and print out your logo or your favorite Bible verse to put on the oil tank and highlight it instead of covering it up.
