It’s nice to see a craft room that is different than an ikea craft room. You have created a very nice space.

Loved seeing your lovely and inspiring room! It's so interesting and cozy AND organized! Much preferred over all the "white Ikea" craft rooms that look like a store. Those are nice, but not everyone's style or budget. You gave me a lot of great ideas for when I get our storage room cleared out so I can have some craft space. Thank you!

Finally someone else using a pampered chef utensil lazy Suzanne being used for crafting tools. I purchased my two probably 15 or 20 years ago or longer. Love mine. Your room looks a lot like my craft room. I haven't gotten my new one set up yet. Love the repurposing for storage. Thank you for sharing.

I love your eclectic creative space! It is inspiring to hear how you’ve adjusted your vision for your space as you’ve gone along. I also enjoy that you’ve used what you have and fun items you’ve found or have been given.
I am starting to tackle my craft room. Currently called the Crap room because it has became a catch all. My space in in a loft space with slanted walls. I like how you found ways to use the places where you have tall walls! You’ve given me ideas and inspiration to get moving to put together an organized but not sterile creative space!! Thank you for sharing.

I love your craft room. I love all the hand me downs and thrift store finds. That’s how mine is too. All my craft furniture is mish mash but it’s all very functional. I also have one of those big cassette tape holders from a thrift store which stores my ink pads too. Something I have always wanted to find is one of those big old library drawer units that held the Dewey decimal cards. You have some awesome containers from the Dollar Tree that I have never seen. Especially the clear containers and the fridge soda can holders. I have a lot of old mason jars that hold various things. I really like those. I’ll be glad when the thrift stores open back up, I’ve missed going there.

What a challenging room to work around so many knee walls. You did an amazing job though.
My bedroom as a teen had knee walls, so I know the challenges to fit furniture in. My room had two recessed chest of drawers built into the knee walls to conserve floor space and using otherwise wasted space.

I love the curtain rod idea for ribbon storage! I have tons of ribbon due to making wreaths, and was looking looking for a way to store it where I could actually still see it to know what I have. I have seen people use rain gutters, which looked nice, but could get to be expensive when your on a very small spending amount. So thank you for sharing an even more cost saving idea!

Loved this. Love watching what others do with thrift store finds. I usually go to Goodwill outlet; they sell by the pound or 5 books for 99 cents. I’ve gotten a lot of my supplies from there as well as my storage stuff. Some of my favorite finds have been my huge desk for 99 cents, a IKEA drawer unit on wheels for 99 cents and an Edith Holder book for 20 cents. Haven’t been able to bring myself to cut it up yet

    • @jeannemartens4210
      @jeannemartens4210 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Me too! That’s where my Edith book came from at .99. I made copies and used those. By the time it’s distressed and collaged you can’t tell it’s not the original and the book as is an old one past copyright and I don’t sell them my journals anyway so it doesn’t matter.

I love the style, you did a great job. It's nice to see a room that is to encourage creativity to actually demonstrate creative use of repurposed furniture. Mine looks very different from yours but makes the same statement: the place where creativity thrives. Our home is a log cabin built by my husband and is the real deal farmhouse; there is no white anything, no IKEA anything, and is home for experienced vintage furniture like a hoosier cabinet, a couple big old dressers, homemade unpainted deep wall shelves, that sort of stuff. When I am in that room I feel the warm cozy aesthetic that welcomes my various projects of all kinds, the things that speak of me and my life and it sounds like you feel the same about yours. I don't have open shelves for fabric, mine are stored in bins in the basement, but I want to do as you are doing and display a selection of fabrics as the things I see inspire me. I think your storage cubes would stack in my wall shelves for fabric, great idea. Same with my laces and ribbon, I need to make some visible and your use of curtain rods is brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing, you have given me some nifty ideas that would work for me, too.

Sounds like we shop at the same places. As a child many years ago, my grandmother took me to all the thrift type stores and what was then called junk shops. She always said we were going junkin'. Some of my most favorite memories. I love how you have organized and decorated your special craft room. My kitchen has mustard colored walls and the two rooms that it opens to are painted very close to avocado green. I am excited to investigate your monthly collections. Thank you for sharing. Such a charming craft space!
If you find that the door to your fabric closet gets in the way, store it somewhere (or repurpose it) and hang curtains across the doorway.
You can hang a curtain across your fabric storage bookshelf, too. Easy to tie open with a ribbon or cord tieback, easy to hide contents when curtains are closed.
The tie backs can be attached to the door jambs and book case sides with command hooks or self stick Velcro tabs.

Love your craft room. I’m in the process of organizing my craft room with a bump out space, closet and one wall.. giving the remainder of the room for a family room upstairs. We shall see how much space I’ll really need. I’m excited to move the computer armoir that’s in our kitchen upstairs in that same room for printing, laptop, and maybe house a smaller tv where the computer used to sit on. Got lots of great ideas Lynnette!! I love how your craft room turned out, and so organized and inviting. I like using what furniture we have, and finding ways to come up with options that are thrifty, unique, functionality and has personality shining throughout our creative space. 😊

In your five level shelving rack.. which I think is really neat ...how about putting things like ribbon and embellishments you could put containers with stickers .... probably those six by six paper pads... if they'll fit in okay... I think there are many things you could do with this shelving unit...measure the space...and use smaller containers to house smaller tools, ect.

Love your space. Thought maybe you could add a skirt for your big table. Would be good storage underneath, for things you don't use often. That would help clear up space. You could put your fabric in that shelf from your Mom's store. Roll up the fabric, rubberband it and put it in the shelf. You could see what you have at a glance.

Your craft room looks awesome! I love all the vintage pieces that you used throughout! So another crazy bit of info about us, my family had a 1976 VW camper van when I was growing up. My parents bought it used and it was painted 4 different colors on the outside. They had it repainted red and then my mom reupholstered everything and made curtains for all the windows. It had a back seat that pulled out to make the master bed and their was a loft that had a cushion where my brother and I slept. My dad made another cushion bed to go across the driver and passenger seats for my sister to sleep on. My youngest brother slept on the floor. It also had a sink, refrigerator and a table that popped up in between the back seats, lol! We went on lots of camping trips in it! I remember as we got older and it was starting to wear out, we would have to help my dad run and jump start it to get it to start. 😂 Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Kim

For a quick fix on the gapped desk top you can get very very thick plexy glass from lowes or home depot

Neat video. I've looked at those make up bags and thought they should be useful. Seeing how you used yours....was good.

I really enjoyed your video. It rea Really spoke to me because I have pieces Lake the wooden rack you have your Tim holds inks in in just a real mishmash of storage and inspired me to keep working on my crafting supplies that are spread out all over the house and be able to get them neatly organized into my lovely 12 by 24 Room! I am also appreciative of the special spot you have for your Bible and journal. I haven't looked but I hope you have a link to your Etsey store so I can see the work that you are doing. God bless !

Thank you so much, Sharon!! 💕 I know what you mean about stuff spread all over the house. 😂 It takes a conscious effort for me to constantly be bringing things BACK into the room. Lol! And I haven’t even shared the “Shipping Dept” and bulk supplies for the kits I sell stored in the basement. 😉 Haha!! Thank you again, and Thank you so much for watching! 💕

For your Mom's wire rack, I would put small boxes that fit into each slot and store craft supplies in them. Awesome rack, btw. You are very lucky.😊😍👍

Thanks for sharing your storage hacks that are not ikea! I too live 3 hours away and then have drive 3 hours back! Never been into one. I’m a thriftaholic with chronic illnesses that have prevented me from stepping foot out of the house all year.except for doctor appts and hospitalizations so I haven’t thrifted since early December 2019, that’s an outrage!!! We moved in November an my studio has been mostly packed up and now it’s getting packed the rest of of the way as we are getting new flooring throughout the whole first floor, reclaimed wood, which includes the studio and I need massive storage after 37 years of crafting and I only have one wall to work with and low ceilings as this is a cottage on the lake. I have a vintage 42x60 draft table and chair taking up most of the room and the other narrow walls broken up by two sliding doors have bookcases, builtin book case with a shelf for a tv, two separate entrances one from the kitchen or one from the dining area where stairs go upstairs, theirs a sliding barn door that has a bathroom, behind one of the sliding doors is the sunroom and the other leads to outside. We are empty nesters but the bathroom is my husband’s bathroom so my studio is constantly being walked through. If I leave stuff out it’s the subject of discussion, being touched or he takes my tools😡. I miss having a hot mess and closing the door or just having a place to myself and not be interrupted.
