Yes. The late eighties - early nineties Chief teams were a no nonsense team that had a brutal running game coupled with a very stellar defense, while today’s Chiefs while very good in their own right are way too commercialized. Although Mahomes is definitely the real deal.

Forgot he had been out of coaching for almost a decade at this point. He definitely “wore his heart on his sleeve”. I’ll bet that first eagles game as a broadcaster was interesting. I’ve heard it said that a great leader isn’t about being the best, but about how much you can get out of your guys and willing them to do what they thought impossible. Kurt Warner is still the best story in the NFL and we wouldn’t even know who he was if it wasn’t for Dick.

Plunkett's story is almost as good as Warner's. His parents were both blind, even though he won the Heisman, he was considered washed up by '81. Two superbowl wins later and a SB MVP, dude still isn't in the HOF. A great example of "only YOU get to say when YOU'RE done- nobody else"

My first playoff game as a Chiefs fan. I was 12.
Little did I know what next 29 years of playoffs would be for Chiefs. Just a complete irony of comic relief. One playoff game my Chiefs were up 28pts @Indy mid 3rdQtr AND LOST!!! LOL. Another time up 18pts LATE 3rdQtr at home in a playoff game vs Tenn AND LOST!!!. One playoff game there wasnt a SINGLE PUNT by either team and lost 38-31 at home vs Indy. One playoff game Chiefs were down 8 to Pittsburgh with less 1min to play. Scored a TD then made 2pt Conv to send it to OT. Out comes a late holding flag on Chiefs. 2pt conv negated, 10yd penalty, replay of 2pt conv..Chiefs lose by 2. Then the best...Intercept TOM BRADY for 3rd time in 2018 season AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME and seal the win, Chiefs going to Super Bowl for first time in 49 years. Nope! Another flag on Chiefs..Offsides on Dee Ford. Brady continues the drive and takes lead. Brady/Pats eventually go on to win on opening drive in OT and THEY go to their 3rd straight SuperBowl. 9th in last 20 years. Lolololol....
Then finally..FINALLY! We win Super Bowl LIV. Down a combined 44pts combined in all 3 postseason games. Win all 3 postseason games by double-digits. I think past 30 years has been preparing us longtime Chiefs fans for greatness. Cuz there ain't no sweet, without bitter. Just watch this game. Chiefs fans FUCKING KNOW the bitter...

Lately it has been a lot of chiefs games from the Marty Schottenheimer era and as I watch a lot of them because football season is over and we are in the dark days, of no real football until training camp, they should have fired that dude , way before 1997! Has teams didn’t have that will to win, only to not lose by a lot of points!

Joe Robbie had huge doors behind one of their end zones at the time. It would let in big gusts of wind and they would swing the doors open when an opponent attempted a kick and is the reason Lowerys kick fell short imo.

Chiefs defense fr 1990-97? No doubt Super Bowl caliber. Just needed a consistent QB IN HIS PRIME! (Should been Marino. If Penn St doesn't win National Championship in 1982? Chiefs draft Marino out of Pitt)

@@joshuagenecobb051 It is not like they did not have an opportunity. With Dan Marino at QB, they passed on Emmitt Smith, Bo Jackson, and two or three other incredible RBs. It was painful as a Dolphin fan watching them never give him a good back or even a decent defense.
