That "D-shaped" spring in the spool spindle? You can make one from spring wire available at a good mom & pop hardware store (or online). I got some at my local hardware store. They were calling it "music wire". They had several different diameters for sale in ~3 foot lengths. I've used it a lot to make repairs on fishing reels.

I got a Heddon 152 the shaft spring is missing. Do you have any idea where I could get one. If I cannot get one I guess I could make one.
