       @Donna Tlachac is In a virtual Studio That's great! Showing mistakes and their corrections is exactly solutions oriented: problem presented, solution offered. There are too many DIY videos that cut out so much that the viewer never sees how the project goes from A to B to C. Going straight from A to C without showing their work makes those videos worthless as a teaching tool.

    Great video. Love that you left all the "whoops" in. Just a note: There are great spray paints out there specifically for spraying on plastic. You might also remind folks to clean the PVC well. I then do a primer, let it dry for a day, then the final coat of paint. Doing it this way, I have never had a chip or scratch on any project made from PVC. I will always choose the path of proper prep. Saves me down the road.

    We use the same brackets on our closet. Instead of pvc however, because it's so wobbly, we use metal electrical conduit. It's cheaper than pvc, a ton more rigid, and only slightly heavier. In my office, I'm using emt. In my bedroom, we use a white conduit. From the end, it looks like a flat bell. They both work beautifully.

    That was so funny. I like that you left the mistake and how to fix it in the video. We're all human, mistakes happen. I have a pile of drop cloths sitting here waiting for me to create my window treatment. I'm stamping a toile design on the "curtains" once they come out of the wash. Then I'll iron them and hang them. I'm using IOD decor stamps for anyone interested.

    I have that bay wall in my kitchen. All I have is the top curtain to let the sun light in. Can you make any suggestions on my oak cabinets. They are beautifully made oak cabinets but the color is honey gold and I hate it, but I cannot make too much of a drastic change as my fiancé would have a complete meltdown as his dad built the cabinets and he just passed away last year? I want to either lighten them up or darken them up just a tad bit. I like the white wash look.

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a hard one. Without painting them or sanding them all the way down to the wood and staining them, there isn't an easy way. A light sand and gel stain might work but I would do a test piece first because gel stain can go on pretty thick sometimes.

    • @thatsmalltowngirl4
      @thatsmalltowngirl4 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gel stain is your best option without painting. You can get a nice finish with it.

      The problem is that there may not be enough wall space, in the corner, to handle 2 separate rods there. Depends on the amount of space and size of rods, end caps and supports. Turning the corner, as shown in the video is one way of solving that problem. The way to know, for sure, that two independent (separate) rods will work, is to actually hold them up on each wall, with brackets and end caps, to see if they have enough clearance. Some drapery rods have large, decorative, end caps, and ornate brackets.
      PS: I have a 3 section bay window that does NOT have enough space between the side windows and the center section.

    Ok so you soaked the drop clothes in bleach...how long? In your sink? Washing machine? And then washed them using fabric softener? I am not much of a DIYer...mainly due to lack of time. But I'm trying!

      I soaked them in my big washing sink in my washroom. If you don’t have one of those a tub works great. I used a gallon of bleach and then added enough water to completely submerge them and let them sit in that overnight. Then I washed them (I didn’t add more bleach in the washer) and used fabric softener. I also dried them in the drier and made sure to get them out as soon as the cycle was done to avoid wrinkles

      Thank you so much. Where is the best place to get them...price wise? I have seen them on Amazon for $12.95/piece...which seems maybe a little high. That's 6x9.
