  • In this video, I detailed the entire process of navigating the Portugal d8 visa for digital nomads.
My family and I recently moved from Malta to Portugal, and while we were planning our move, it was difficult to find resources to help us better navigate the process.
I hope you find the information helpful as you consider a possible move to Portugal.
Document checklist (For third country nationals living abroad)
    Bank statements
Nigerian police conduct (authenticated and legalized)
    Malta police conduct (notarized)
    Marriage certificate (authenticated and legalized)
Infant birth certificate (authenticated and legalized)
    Employment contract
    3 months pay slips
    Signed letter from employer
    Portugal NIF (for all applicants)
    Portuguese bank account
    Rental/lease contract
    Tax clearance documents
    Malta residence cards (scanned copies)
All pages of international passports (scanned copies)
These were all the documents that supported our successful application for Portugal d8 visas as Nigerians who were resident in Malta at the time.

Hi Oyi, thanks a lot for sharing. This has been really helpful as I'm looking to make the same Malta - Portugal DNV switch. I have a question about the tax clearance. DId you submit only the tax clearance ID or a detailed tax return/receipt?

Also, would you be willing to share the lawyer who worked on your case?

@@mubarakolayinka1056 What we submitted was a tax clearance document that was sent to our home address in Malta at the end of our first year. It just showed that we didn’t owe taxes to the Maltese government.
You can reach out to me on instagram and I will put you in touch with our Portuguese lawyer.

This is so straight forward, you earned a subscriber to encourage you. However, you mentioned about a friend who recently completed their application all the way from Nigeria, I would like to know if the said friend also used the service of a lawyer. Ultimately I will appreciate if you could refer your lawyer to me so I could engage her great service. Pls let me know how I can contact you or her.

@@lamlandigital Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Yes, the person contracted a lawyer as well. However, not the same person we contracted. You can send me a message on IG and I’ll let you know how to contact my lawyer. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing. Please how did you find your lawyer? Was the lawyer in Malta or Portugal?

@@kwadwobawuah2162 Thank you for watching. Our lawyer is Portuguese and based in Portugal. We were lucky to find her through a third party on a facebook group.

Please, is this the same process to move on a study route by a Nigerian already living in the Schengen zone?

I’m not entirely sure, but there’s a chance it might be easier or less complicated. I’m in a Nigerian community and I’ve come across students asking about how to legalize their documents as well. So the requirements may be similar, but the process a bit straightforward.

Mrs. Oyi Douglas, Thanks for sharing. The people from Atlantic Bridge, an agency that process D8 for a fee, claim that Nigeria is blacklisted, and as such Portugal doesn’t accept D8 application from Nigerias. Can please address this?

@@eseonotaniyohwo5769 Hi there, thank you for watching. I would assume it was their personal decision not to pursue the application for Nigerians because it’s difficult. We recently completed our application, and a friend also did same (all the way from Nigeria) too. What I can say is that the process was not as easy for Nigerians, but our lawyer helped us navigate the bottlenecks and we came out fine.
