    I'm really sorry about how this one came out- it was unscripted and I had a lot of different things I wanted to talk about. It ended up coming out WAY too dense and I had to break it down; even still I feel like this video kinda goes all over the place. 50% of the video ended up being scrapped too. 😥

    Loved this video! I've spent about 2 years learning Japanese in university from textbooks, and I've found my level lacking so I've turned to MIA/Refold to improve on this. Matt is a legend, but he tends to skip over some of these things you've mentioned that might play a role in making a fun and effective deck . I love your content so far, but it's a bit over my head in terms of the techy side aha. Looking forward to the future of your channel :)

    Thanks so much! I just recently started immersing and was struggling on how to make cards through it. Hit 1k words from the core 2k 💪

      The idea of the repositories is less so to actually learn new things, and more so just to have a huge bank you can fall back on when lazy or when you need sample sentences.
      .
      When actually trying to learn something, there should be some sort of target. Say if I want to learn 〜にくい , I would put a bunch of sentences that use that in a row. (That I may or may not grab from the repos).
      .
      I would advise against studying from the repos directly with no target though!

      how much can you understand now after learning 1k words

      @@JouzuJuls That makes sense. I am using the core 2k right now for building my foundation currently and am transitioning to immersion. Seeing these tips are helpful for me in the future for when I have built a substantial library of cards. Thank you again for the reply! Love the effort you put in your videos as they serve as motivation for me in my language learning journey.

      @@bluepenguin12 Much less than I thought. I've been transitioning recently to immersion with anime (JP subtitles) and I definitely can read and hear many words I know. However, my hurdle right now is understanding sentences. With more time this problem will alleviate itself but right now watching a straight episode without sentence mining I can get the gist the idea of a few sentences. Language learning is a marathon, not a race so your results will vary depending on how intently you study.

      @@jordangallegos680 very nice. Glad my videos are able to motivate you! Tip for understanding sentences is to watch an anime you've already watched before in English subs, but now use JP subs instead. Idk why but the first episode is usually pretty hard, but itll get easier as you go along.

    3:15 language is 50% made up of words that only appear once in a body of text; they are relevant for the context, so the rest makes sense.
    just imagine removing all the words that only appear once in this comment; it will become incomprehensible.

    • @darrell9294

      Theres a difference between words that only appeared once in a paragraph vs words that appear once in an entire movie.

      Different subtitle files may be encoded differently. Try different encoding formats for the importing of the subtitles.

    what is the extent that Migaku can do this? I ask because this is alot of different stuff.

    • @JouzuJuls
      @JouzuJuls  ปีที่แล้ว

      This video is basically outdated in my eyes, I've completely uninstalled Subs2SRS and don't recommend it anymore because Migaku is far superior. The problem with Subs2SRS is that it generates a LOT of junk cards or repeat cards. You don't NEED 11,583 cards- what you DO need are cards that you can actually LEARN from.
      THAT'S what Migaku does best.
      Of course Migaku can also export literally everything into cards just like Subs2SRS too, but idk why you would do that.

    Got a subs2srs Mac alternative?

    • @JouzuJuls
      @JouzuJuls  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't really use Subs2SRS anymore because the alternative, Migaku, is simply much better. The problem with S2SRS is that it creates a bunch of Junk cards that you'll have time filtering through.
      .
      Migaku solves this by creating cards only with specifically 1 word you don't know. Here's a guide on how to set it up: th-cam.com/video/45_TwPlhvGE/w-d-xo.html
