I can relate to this. Im 34 and still drive my car from highschool. Net worth just crossed $2.1M and we're technically FI. We wont FIRE for a few years though, my wife and i want to conciously start inflating our lifestyle a bit over the next few years.
I can relate to all your stories . My worse was when I was on holiday in Scotland and I knew my cc was maxed or almost maxed out . I arrived at hotel and didn’t know if it would go through or not, I went into prayer mode “ please Jesus let this go through “. Thank God it did, if it didn’t , I would have been sleeping on the street in cold October
❤ this video, so true.... fun to watch how judgemental people are about my 2014 Honda CRV...... they are like "but your a licensed professional, you can afford it and need to look like you can"...... ok, for who? My family is fighting over that same "unprofessional looking" paid off car.... been paid off for 5 years now, what a debt saver🤑
I love buying tech or investing waaay more than I like traveling. Travel in general is expensive when you're bringing a family of four or more and too often the "experience" doesn't feel worth the price. That's just me I guess.
I also am trying to keep costs down but I do need reliable transportation. So far my Volvo is holding up and it’s paid for so I am hoping it’s good for another year. I plan on buying a reasonable Ho da or Toyota sometime next year.
@@oscarg5116 get a used camry, a beater. Maybe even look for one at an auction in your area, u’d be surprised what gems u can find. I got a 2007 camry for $1200 and it has been running fine for several years. Its dented n has body flaws, but it has been more reliable than my friends newer cars.
You know, as common sensical as you are, one could almost believe that the spendthrift backstory is made up. Nah, couldn't be 😅...At any rate, an obvious but important message that a few billion people worldwide need to hear. Very much enjoy your monologues.
Gotta have a really good income to do this though. If folks are maxed out making less than 50k a year, they are hosed. They're really hosed, either way.
Well unless you are really rich, then u shouldnt be buying expensive clothes and driving nice cars to look like you are doing well financially. Its not so much as “looking poor”, but trying not to look rich. I make 6 figures, im not rich, i drive a 2007 camry, it runs. I could buy a 80k truck and compete with my neighbor, but i’d rather save that 80k and invest it. I see people who are struggling to pay bills but buy new cars n new iphones. They seem to have more money than i do, and i dont care.
Now if you're a Christian you know that your source if you believe is God by giving the God's work favor and blessings come back to you and when you help people with with more with the extra money you have it shows that you have a good reputation
In heaven we're going to flip out there is no buying houses or hoarding gold in the bank or none of that stuff everything is free but everybody works together and helping each other which is a good thing
As a Christian I'd like to be able to give to the church in charities and things like that and I don't want to be two given to the point where I become broke either
I mean when you're working on walking on gold streets in mansions made out of rubies and and and precious stones and all that and wealth is is is is is a common thing the most important thing is giving God the glory in loving each other and helping one another
Yes during his wealth building phase, he drove an old car. Now, with his new fiancé, he has inflated his lifestyle. As he should. He can’t take all that money with him. If you are in the wealth building phase, you have to prioritize where you spend every dollar.
I'm not going to judge you cuz I'm a Christian but I agree with you about buying flashy things but if you can buy something that you can use like a truck for saying if you have a business that's another thing I want to say you buy a truck and instead of having a rent a truck you have a truck to carry something home that you want to buy
Jesus told the little widow that gave everything she had to help God was the one that gave the most because she gave out of her need and everyone else gave out of their abundance

I love looking poor because people leave me alone! I once was driving a BMW, people came out of the woodwork to ask me for money.

Love it
The temptation to show off and impress other people is too great for most people to adopt frugality. I see it every day. That is our society.
Great video Psy, keep it up.
Thank you for sharing
❤ Love this video. Thanks 👍. We have the same financial values.
Thanks for transparency very helpful

If I go back in time I wouldn’t recognize myself. It took me years to overcome my spending behavior

2011 accord with dents
The car didn't cause Bezos any problems so there was no reason to replace it. Time and energy spent elsewhere.
Pretending to be something you are not doesn’t feel truthful or fulfilling to me. Have fun pretending you are something you are not.

You have to get to the point to where you say eff what people think
True and it was a lot harder to overcome when I was programmed to care how people viewed me. Now? Too easy

i thought Bezos wanted Seattle to move a bridge so his yacht could fit??? he's def a poor example

Who cares about what anyone thinks.
Bro don't lie, you've not been wearing the same jeans for 20.years. 🤣
Bro I’ve been size 34/30 forever 😌 but I’ll fall off in 20 years
Ok...👀
Isn't all this common sense?
