The New Windows 11 Photos App Overview

Microsoft is always updating Windows 11 and adding new features and they have now come out with a new Photos app to replace the legacy version. This new app has a new look and some new features so you might want to check it out. If you are on build 22H2, you might have it already or should have it soon.

Most important you didn't say how in the heck do you tag photos and mark photos as favorites? I cannot. find where to do that at And I would like to start organizing all my photos.

I have the legacy version and am trying to get my pictures to import into a specific file folder and by individual data taken. I only want to import new images since the last import. None of these features are working. I have tried adjusting the settings with no luck. Any suggestions?

I don't see one and I think they expect to group your similar photos in folders on your computer and then you can add those folders to Photos.

As of now, there is no option for a slideshow but it might show up eventually. You can still install the prior Photos app if you prefer to use that instead.

They want you to use Clipchamp now for editing videos or you can download the legacy Photo app from the Microsoft store to use the old one. Do a search for video on your computer and click on video editor to see your options.
