    Having lost printed pictures to Hurricane Mitch in 1998, a coup in 2009, covid and other smaller disasters I can totally understand your interest in preserving pictures rather than editing them. In 1998 I lost almost everything as my house was flooded to the roof in the second story for two whole days. Fortunately I was able to recover almost everything. However no amount of money could help me recover pictures from my wedding, my first daughter, etc and videos too. They were all badly damaged and smushed in a pulp. I saw some tips from you but it was definitely 25 years too late. From then on I've always tried to keep a backup of all my pictures and videos. From your channel i've started to organize them and consolidate them. I've had them spread over box, dropbox, google photos, icloud, and external drives. Thank you for all the content you put out there. I have the same passion as you to preserve those memories.

      Hi there - thank you so much for your words. I'm so sorry you've lost many of your memories. Wishing you the best as you continue to preserve what you can.
      Blessings and cheers!

    One feature you didn't mention is the automatic tagging. If you put your cursor in the box "Search for people, places or things" you will see tags that Photos has available based on your pictures. Each time I do it, it suggests different things, which makes it not really easy to use. But I did see Birthday as a choice once, so I clicked it, and it is very quickly showed me all the pictures I have with birthday cakes in them. So I guess the idea is you just type in something you'd like to be able to search for and see if it works. For instance, I typed Mountain and it brought up photos in my collection of mountain landscapes.

      I just realized one of the other things you can search for is "Favorites". You can right click on any picture and choose Add to favorites. Then it will come up when you search for favorites. I wish it would show me a star or a heart on the photo thumbnail to tell me which I've marked as favorites, but it doesn't do that. Just another reason why this program falls short. I believe it is using some underlying metadata within Windows because I have very old pictures that were brought in from an old Mac or another Windows machine way before Windows 10 - that are coming up as favorites. I wish I knew more about that or how to display in File Explorer what has been tagged as a favorite. If you know, can you reply here? Thanks!

      The search bar is a great feature and thank you for pointing it out. And, I agree with you, if you add a photo to favorites, you should be able to see it. Let me explore a bit and get back to you on more about how favorites work.

      I have tested the favorite feature on two PCs. . . I can see how to add the heart when the photo is open in the Photos app. However, when I right click on the photo (without it being open), my "Add To" does not include a Favorites option, album, etc. I also pulled a "favorited" photo from my Mac and the Windows app does not recognize it as having been favorited. When I do add the heart to favorite the photo, the photos show up in the "Favorites" album. Do you have a favorites album in the Photos App?

      File Explorer does not have a "Favorites" attribute and my online research shows that this Photos app Favorite only shows up in the Photos app, and not elsewhere. (File Explorer does have the rating system which you can see in the Details View by adding the Rating column.)

    Are you familiar with the Windows Photo app in Windows Mixed Reality? Can you possibly explain where the pin to world button has gone. I have it available in my HoloLens but not in WMR.

      Ygritte - I confess I hadn't heard about Windows Mixed Reality before. I' going to research this further. I so appreciate your comment. My husband is a VR buff (Oculus) and I think you just gave me a reason to buy him a xmas present!

    Can you filter by camera / record device?

    • @Pixologie
      @Pixologie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tristan - sorry for the delay in answering. I've been out of town. Yes, in the details view, add the column for Camera Model Camera Maker. Then you can sort and filter them by clicking on the desired column. Hope this helps!
      Cheers!

    Can you explain the pictures folder versus Photos app? With an external hard drive does deleting a picture does it delete from the external hard drive?

      Hi Greg, thanks for watching!
      Windows has two "programs" to view and work with your photos. 1.) File Explorer - where you view your photos in their file folders 2.) Photos App - where you can also look at your photos in the Collection, Albums, People and Folders view (which is the same as looking at your Folders in File Explorer)
      From my testing in the different views in the Photos App, if you are clicking the trash can (delete bin), you are deleting it everywhere.
      I have not found the Photos app to be helpful at all in terms of organization. I'd rather just work in the File Explorer. I do enjoy the Video Editor for creating slideshows on a PC.
      I sure hope this helps. . . . Let me know what other questions you have.
      Cheers!

    How did you do the heart

    • @Pixologie
      @Pixologie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, thanks for watching! When you look at a photo in its full view, there are icons above it - including a heart. When you click on the heart, the photo is now “favorited.” You can view all your favorites in the Collections or Albums view. I hope this helps and is what you were referring to. Let me know!
      Cheers,
      Mollie

      @@Pixologie At 10:48 you have a couple photos that are heart shape, that's the heart I was wondering about. What my problem is, a couple days ago I was checking photo editor out and I come out of it with a photo that is round with smoky edge and I haven't been able to figure out how I did it.

    • @Pixologie
      @Pixologie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@idliketooutdoors3716 hmm… not sure how you edited your photo. The heart photo in the video was cut out by hand and then scanned that way. With Photoshop you could edit the digital photo into a heart but that is an advanced program in my opinion to work with. Are you wanting to make into a heart for a photo book?
