    Here's the deal. I grew up with Joey in the same neighborhood in Hackensack NJ. A typical lunch pail community at that point. We played in rival bands. I was a drummer in mine and he was the lead guitarist in his.
    Bottom line is he had a much better singing voice than his lead singer. He wanted to leave that band and did. He started a group called Ezra. I left for college but still kept in touch and followed his career to Fandango though Ritchie Blackmore's bands, Rainbow and then a redo of Deep Purple.
    Joey does not have male pattern baldness. He has a condition where there is no hair at all. He does not even have eyebrows. He has worn baseball caps and wigs his whole life. Cruel deal to be dealt a young man but he has handled it with dignity and humility. I don't know a better person than Joey and am pleased that we had a great relationship for many years. Rock on Joey!

      It seemed like there was an Ezra poster on every telephone pole in my hometown of Hasbrouck Heights. We had the CYO at Corpus Christi Church so it was Filet of Soul, Muffin and Ezra. I was a couple of years younger playing in the basement of Corpus Christi Center... “the minor leagues” 😂

    About 15 years back I was in a local cover band. JLT was in town for a concert, I forgot who, but we were doing Stone Cold and Power by Rainbow. He was at the bar and jumped up on stage and sang a couple tunes with us.

    i hope i look this good when i get to this age...56? he was born in aug '51..yep, 56 when this interview took place...he's aging very nicely..his voice hasn't changed much..i heard his cover of metallica 'nothing else matters'...i was totally awed! such a versatile singer! and his vocal range is amazing..very few singers of his calibre from the 70s era left these days.
    i don't think he's wearing a wig...we females could spot a wig three miles away!

    I think Joe is right about different cultural backgrounds when an american enters Deep Purple. Same thing happened with Bolin.

    • @CB-xr1eg
      @CB-xr1eg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same thing didn't happen with Bolin, not at all. The problem with Tommy Bolin in Deep Purple was not that he was American. It was that he was a heroin addict and couldn't be relied on. He even messed up his arm while injecting, to the extent he couldn't play guitar properly.
      Last Concert In Japan is evidence of that. When Ritchie left mid tour in 1993 Joe Satriani (American) filled in for the rest of the tour and the band wanted him to join permanently. And Steve Morse, (an American), has been with Deep Purple since 1994 without any hint of problems. So the problem was not with Americans as such, it was just with Joe (Mr Arrogant) Lynn Turner.
      Yes I know the comment is 3 years old but it has to be said that you're talking crap!

  • @BlueThunderFan99
    @BlueThunderFan99 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    He wasn't the only person to play guitar with Blackmore. George Harrison also played guitar with Blackmore around 1984. Deep Purple played Lucille with George.

    • @jackmeov5922
      @jackmeov5922 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ritchie also did a tribute to Paul Kossoff with Sweet after Kossoff died, so he played on stage with Andy Scott. And in his current band, there sometimes are acoustic guitar parts played by others.

    You people that get on here and bash this guy are very inferior about yourself. I'm on my son's account. But, I have been In Love with this guy from afar since 1972! I have never been lucky enough to get close to him! Damn! But, I admire his spunk and ambitions! I think he has a wonderful voice, and he put Rainbow on the charts! Unfortunately, we all age, but he is doing it with dignity and doesn't try to hide that fact. As for the business with Russia and Putin, I think that has alot to do with his wife. It would be nice to see him with someone that actually loved him for him, and not for any other reason. She is supposedly an attorney, I don't know how???? She is always crammed up his ass everywhere he goes, she could not possibly be practicing law! Could it be that she is afraid he might look at someone that is his equal and has his best interest at heart? Who knows, but that is what happens when you marry someone so young. I still think he's a great person, and I still want to meet his guy!

    No its a wig. He's had Alopecia since a child. In fact I don't think he even has eyebrows. Fav singer though. He grew up around my town Fort Lee NJ right on the GW Bridge and when i was a teen he was in the best band in the county (Ezra) as a kid himself. Later that band morphed into Fandango and holy shit they were big. On there way to megastardom until the lead guitar got killed in a headon on the Palisades Parkway. 1979? Too bad 'cause Fandango was unreal.

  • @Xcorgi

    Damn few vocallists can match Joe's range and raw vocal powerl I would say he is actually in the range of Freddie Mercury! He really should have been Queen's new singer.

    I remember all of this, I am from Hackensack, NJ "JLT"s home town.. I remember Ezra pretty well, they had to be the best band around in those days.. yes that band morphed into Fandango, the lead guitar player was Rick Blakemore, he was killed in a car accident in 1983, and yes Fandango was great!

    It's so true how people are sometimes forced to sing because of situations...and then realize they're great...or develop to be great. (BTW, Joe, Ritchie is a god guitar player...Malmsteen is a tool.)

    @SaulGoodman-w2x 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CB-xr1eg If you are too stupid to see how full of shit this guy is in all his interviews then go ask... actually nevermind, if you are really that dumb no one could possibly explain it to you. Sorry.

    • @CB-xr1eg
      @CB-xr1eg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SaulGoodman-w2x I know Joe is full of shit and I've watched most of these interview videos. But he actually was a guitar player before he became a singer. Not sure why you're going on about him asking Ritchie to do solos though. He never said that or even implied it. Must be just you not understanding what he says.
