I agree, but you probably use thw same reasoning. For example, would you have killed hitler to save lives? Likewise, the abortionist killer would likely to reasoning "If i kill the person who is killing a lot of innocent lives, then that saves those lives". In reality it doesnt though and those same people at fetal stage of their life would likely be killed by someone else anyway.
You know what reduces abortions: good sexual education, free contraception, free or cheap or understanding pre and postal natal care with good child support. Being ‘pro-life’ without supporting the above is stupid.

But if I ever got with someone I know how to use protection some females just do not care and I feel bad for the children in the long run because they're the ones that suffer..
I would like to point out that when someone has a 3rd trimester abortion it's normally because they wanted the baby, but for some reason birth would not be the best choice for the mother and/or the baby. One example is the baby and/or mother may die during or soon after birth and a c-section would not be a good substitute for natural birth.
@Smokey Mcb Not everyone is religious, and not all religions follow the same values of yours. Don't force other people to abide to your ideologies, because I'm sure you'd be extremely upset if someone forced you to act a certain way in the name of their god.
@Smokey Mcb That child was either going to die anyway or live a short life and suffer intensely outside of the womb...or both the mother and the child would die. Like, an abortion is totally justified in that case. There is no saving in that case, you're just needlessly endangering the woman.
@Smokey Mcb bro what??? If you think we should risk a mothers life because of the baby then we must also agree that forced and mandated organ donation should be enforced nation wide. Every person with a organ they can give MUST give it then. Otherwise it would be murder to not do it. Also mandated blood donations. You have enough blood to give so you have to give it because some people die because there is not enough blood around at the moment. Also mandated skin donations. You can regrow your skin on your legs and calfs easily but some burn victims desperatly need skin transfers to survive and at the moment not every clinic has a skin bank. If you object to any of these you are an accesory to MURDER!!
@Smokey Mcb what r u smoking bro LMAO u think anyone willingly carries out a pregnanyc for months, prepares for a baby and then out of no where decides to get an abortion? if that baby is going to die during childbirth or shortly after, why tf would u want to prolong its and the mother's suffering?? also why should the mother risk her life??
@Smokey Mcb If you know the mother is going to die during the pregnancy, and you choose not to abort, then you're responsible for her death. You know, just like a murderer. In many (most?) countries you can be charged for not helping someone, and this especially applies to doctor who neglect their patients and let them die.
I am pro-choice, but I was incredibly uncomfortable about the idea of 3rd trimester abortion (that genuinely disturbs me), heck even the second trimester seems too far along… that being said: when I heard that the woman’s baby had a condition that would cause them to go through a great deal of pain and have a high risk of death… I can understand wanting an abortion. As disturbing as a 3rd trimester abortion seems to me, letting a child go through that kind of suffering seems far worse to me. I wish pro-life people could be brought in front of babies that had no choice but to be born with horrible conditions, just so they can see what “pro-life” can sometimes look like.
I agree with every word of yours. I am pro-choice but I think the decision of abortion should be made as early as possible. But when there is serious health problem with the baby or the women, then exceptions should be granted.
I absolutely agree. I'm pro choice all the way, and I feel the same about late term abortions. I also think that late term abortions should only be done if either the foetus or the parent is in danger of death/low quality of life and that abortions should be done as soon as possible.
abortion after 20 weeks usually has to deal with the health and welfare of the mother and or child being compromised. Meaning life threatening if the pregnancy continued.
It makes me queasy too but I’m ok with other than just babies with problems too. I learned most women who have late term abortions are from poor communities where getting to an abortion clinic takes a ten hour drive and so much money for hotels and everything. It often takes until 20 weeks to get there. If we eliminated late term abortion the poor women of America would suffer even more. Rich women just fly off to other countries
Saved his grandsons life? All three seconds of it being filled with incredible pain and discomfort, forced onto a mother that admitted she wouldnt be able to help the child?
On one hand, he's understandable; he loves his grandson even before having met him. He doesn't want to see him die without having had a shot at life. On the other hand, he's offering a life that will be full of hardship, agony, limits upon limits and so, so much loneliness. Sometimes, it might be the better idea to let the child go.
So killing is ok if it’s to play God and say preemptively that a life cannot be saved or is worthless? Lotta slave owners held/hold the same beliefs as you people.
@@giant0mantisand not everyone goes through the same suffering where they can come out of it. The child’s situation is one of those sufferings that will just make his entire life a misery, would let that child just live a life of misery?

It's amazing how many people are willing to misuse their beliefs to justify killing someone they don't like and feeling righteously indignant about it. I guess it never occurs to them to maybe not be so selfishly childish and think that their beliefs are the only ones that matter or should be used to create society. As if none of our beliefs mean anything and that they can just ignore us and what we think about it. If you're against abortion then don't get one, but that's where your rights and privileges end, everyone else is free to do as we please with our bodies thanks.
True, but it is exactly the common argument as "I will kill someone to stop them killing even more humans". In reality, a new person usually replaces them, and that whole side of the war feels more righteous & more like a victim or like their own evil is fighting evil and justified. Also, both me and you were once a human Zygote, then a human fetus, then baby, toddler, teen, adult. We can only consent later on. At what point would you kill someone? Or stop another person from killing someone or many people? Notice our privilege in not being killed in our mother's womb? It's not good imo, but also in line with common beliefs that lots of people have about justifying killing others.
There is another body with different DNA within a pregnant woman. Killing the unborn baby isn't euthanasia, it's murder. The difference between pro-choice and pro-life people are that pro-choice folks only dare to pick fights and kill people that are much smaller and weaker than them. Pro-life people advocate contraception to avoid conception, there is no loss of life in the absence of it.
Regardless of motivations, I’m pretty sure that murdering another human being in the middle of a sermon literally seconds after the priest says peace be upon you is about the most unchristian thing this guy could have conceivably done.

Okay, but the baby's case of Ehler's Danlos Syndrome must have been one of the more rare, severe kinds because I have EDS and the only thing I have to worry about is making sure I go to bed with pillows supporting my arms, if I don't, I run the possibility of waking up with my arms dislocated from their socket. I've had to reset my shoulder a few times, myself. On the other hand, I know of a girl who was wheelchair bound, not because she couldn't walk, but because her neck could slip out of place, internally decapitaing her.
Someone commented that the disease described is a baby who skin tears when you barely touch it. I don’t know the name of the disease but I think shows like this should be very careful because now some people may want abortions for Ehlers-Danlos and like you said it’s very manageable. And there are so many degrees of it that they wouldn’t have time to go into it on a show like law and order
I was thinking the same thing. I have a few friends that have EDS and most of them just have to be careful when they walk as there hips will sometimes move out to far. Some shows don't do there research about conditions and just choose something not many people have heard of and go with it as it sounds severe.

I'm not sure if anyone was hurt but it really makes you think "how can someone so pro life want to take a life?" edit: thank you for the likes. And to the people who believe my story is false, even if it was, that does not discredit other stories and documented cases where this does happen and in fact, happens frequently enough to be a pattern. not only shootings but threats of violence, bomb threats and even stalking of abortion doctors is not uncommon, especially recently.
This happens fairly often to various degrees. From shootings to bombings. Pro-lifers have also been known to write down license plates of people visiting clinics and stalk them.
Ever notice how a lot of pro life people also tend to support the death penalty because “the death row inmate made a choice, and the consequence was death”? Their belief in being pro life isn’t as extreme as their belief in vengeance.
The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.
@Nazara R exactly, and killing people to supposedly save unborn children is not justice. Love Law and Order but Ehlers Danlos causes skin tearing in very few people, it belongs to the rarer category of EDS. Most of us are hypermobile or flexible and suffer dislocations. It is a connective tissue disorder that affects the strength of your skin and joints, 'the lightest touch' applies to less than about 5% of cases. Makes me mad to see how mis-diagnosed/treated we were back in the day but also glad to see how far we have come.
While I agree with your point on the disorder's (mis)representation, you also stated that what they represented exists. So, it's not really a misrepresentation; even if the 'lightest touch' is incredibly rare-- it exists and so the show did nothing wrong here.
@@kendrayoung6237 It's not even incredibly rare. 1/20 is pretty common and it is a death sentence. Instead of enforcing heavy abortion laws, if the Christian ruled states increased sexual education, provide contraception and teached how to use them and made kids know more about the stuff, unwanted pregnancies would be reduced by a LOT.
That's true, but a good Adoption system would also save a lot of lives too. Especially "Open Adoption". I know someone who did it & her & her kids like it. In Australia we seem to havea pretty decent open adoption system and it is much cheaper & easier than IVF. I would like to do it in the future too, esp with the added bonus of saving a life and a trauma. All of the ppl i know who have "aborted" their child, or their partner did, seem traumatized by it.
Unfortunately, contraception of any form is frowned upon in many churches. It is believed that preventing a pregnancy isn’t god’s will and is not “natural”. Instead, they mindlessly advocate for abstinence.
What are Christians ruling? The Bible has been kicked out of schools and now the ones in charge want to sexualize little children. That goes against everything the Bible teaches.
But that sort of thing would _invalidate those religions_ in turn. The sad reality is that the fundies in those countries would rather have the world _burn_ then become invalidated.

I am pro-life, but it blows my mind that some people are so far pro-life that they are actually pro-death. Pro-life should mean that you advocate for ALL lives, including the person carrying the child. Pro-life should mean giving free contraceptives to everyone, including the poor and minorities. And we need free healthcare and easy access to healthcare. Parents should be able to get paid maternity and paternity leave for more than a few weeks. And we need to do something about the high mortality rate during child birth for the pregnant individual and the baby. A person's rights to proper healthcare to prevent pregnancy or to have a safe pregnancy shouldn't be based on how much money is in their bank account, the color of their skin, their culture, or the God they pray to (or don't pray to).
Especially the high mortality rate for childbirth, I feel like it’s not talked about enough and a big reason why many want to have an abortion, because why risk your life for a kid you don’t want/can’t have yet. And many anti abortion bans have killed so many mothers in childbirth since the doctors aren’t allowed to have the mother have an abortion during life threatening situation until the mother is actively dying (case in island for example that ended the abortion ban). That’s one big reason why I’ll always be pro choice. However I’m from Sweden and in our country almost everything you listed is a reality and I think the anti or pro abortion can be talked about in an actual reasonable conversation but in the us when they don’t support mothers or free birth control or guaranteed maternity leave (so much more) it’s an absolute no and abortion should be accessible
Hey I've always had this question for pro life people. Do you think people should have abortions if the baby has a severe condition or if the mother is probably going to die at birth?
@@missclick7609 I used to think that it shouldn’t be considered in any situation, but now I think that if there’s no chance of mom or baby surviving or if it’s extremely high risk (etc ectopic pregnancy) or if the baby is extremely deformed past surviving then I think it should be considered. But as a form of birth control? Absolutely not.

Are babies born only just to survive? Yes, it may have a chance of survival, but how is it gonna live? In pain forever? And not only the baby, how are the parents gonna live? This is not just about the baby, i sympathise with the parents. They will have this burden forever.
@@dreamhobbizEveryone has a cross to bear, life isn’t easy for everyone, but that’s no excuse to remove the choice to live from the people who have it hard(developing children in the womb)
I have Ehler Danlos syndrome and so do my siblings. Whatever they're talking about here, with the baby born into suffering and pain, is not E-D. Yes, we have very weak immune systems. Yes, we have hypersensitivity in every sense and on our skin and my skin has always been extremely sensitive, but not like this. I was perfectly healthy until I was a teenager
The show is referring to either Cardiac-valvular EDS (cvEDS), or Vascular EDS (vEDS). Both are rare. Both cause skin issues. Both can be very deadly to children. And they also require full-time care. Though it’s not specified, cvEDS is more likely to be the case for the child in question, as it does result in extremely thin, fragile skin. It’s important to remember: just because you, personally, haven’t heard of something doesn’t mean the information being presented is automatically false.
Well by liberal logic you shouldn't have been born, because it's their right to decide what your life is worth. What a wonderfully twisted world we live in.
The pregnant character was also another pregnant character on Law & Order SVU just one year before this episode. It was the “pregnancy pact” episode. Quite sad at the ending too. It has a special guest star Jesse McCartney.
They’re overselling Ehlers Danlos. The skin is more delicate, yes, but it doesn’t tear at the slightest touch, that’s absurd. There’s different severities, and the more severe cases their primary form of mobility would be wheelchair, but the primary concerns with Ehlers Danlos are dislocations and blood vessel aneurysms.
@@kylestubbs8867there’s a rarer, way worse version on the disease that involves heart problems that I think the show is referring to. If thats the case, its very awful so yeah it is a plausible reason for a late term abortion
OMG you can’t diagnose EDS in the womb!! I Have EDS. You can’t say how fragile the skin will be. Everyone who suffers is affected differently. My skin is only mildly affected. Their are conditions a child can be born with that will make their skin as fragile as the father describes. But it’s not EDS!! That affects the joints mostly, then the organs, and lastly the skin.(all are different )
Technically it can be. Can Ehlers-Danlos syndrome be detected before birth? Some parents may choose to have their child tested for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) before they are born. This is known as prenatal diagnosis. If the gene change(s) that causes EDS are known in a family, then molecular genetic testing (which can detect these changes) can be used for prenatal diagnosis. A sample of tissue can be taken from the placenta to test for changes in the specific gene known to cause a specific subtype of EDS. This test is called chorionic villus sampling. Another test is called amniocentesis, which involves taking a sample of the amniotic fluid that surrounds and protects a developing fetus. Cells known as amniocytes are taken from the fluid and studied for changes in the gene in question. There are risks to the unborn baby of doing these tests before birth. Talk to your doctor or a genetic counselor in your area to discuss the risks and benefits of prenatal diagnosis.
As the other commenter said, with genetic testing it can be diagnosed in the womb. Heart defects and other deformities can also be seen in the womb. Depending on the results of the genetic testing, yes you can have a good idea of what the skin fragility will be. It could be that they meant EB instead of EDS. My skin is not as fragile as an EB sufferers, but seams in clothing can cause friction sores that get infected. My scars can rupture with pressure. I have vascular EDS. This comment section is full of people with milder forms being outraged at this. It's just a representation of the more severe forms if anything, which DOES NOT misrepresent EDS as a whole. Until recently, only the more severe forms of EDS were even diagnosed. Not the bullshit we have now where if you're hypermobile you've now got a genetic condition 🤦
The show said the child was diagnosed after an ultrasound. An ultrasound may show certain defects, that EDS could cause. But those could also be caused by other conditions. To decide to test for EDS before birth. Would be expensive, to say the least. Also why would the test for EDS. If it wasn’t in the family history? They can’t test for all possible disorders and conditions that case the defects seen in the scan. They also could not possibly say how EDS would affect the child. Even if the did have a positive genetic result. Not to mention that not all forms of EDS have been identified on the genome. I also believe it is still considered risky to do a genetic test on a unborn child. Because of the disruption to the uterus. But technology may have gotten better since I had my child. This is however an old episode. So likely the same age as my child. Also, was EDS even found on the genome when this show aired? I had to have a clinical diagnosis. Because they still haven’t found my forms genetic markers.
@@livyann2143 thanks for invalidating my many years of pain and suffering. Just because you got a worse deal out of life than I did! You have no idea how I am affected. Except that my skin isn’t as fragile as described in this tv show. This show is supper old to. So likely even vascular EDS wasn’t mapped on the genome at the time it aired. You can have your opinion on my comment. I welcome a debate on my points of view. But don’t tell me anything concerning my personal health issues. Until you get your doctorate and do an examination of me!
@@inthewindago First and most importantly, I never invalidated your pain and suffering. That said, you don't have to face an early death like I do. vEDS simply is the more severe/dangerous form compared to hEDS. I know of no doctors versed in this condition that would argue otherwise. Your joint problems may be severe, but that is not LETHAL. vEDS and hEDS are two drastically different diseases when it comes down to it. When my condition more accurately matches what is being described in a show, I would think my opinion on the matter should well, matter. I'd never willingly get pregnant and pass these genes on. I will NOT be handing down a death sentence and my life is hell, made even more so by doctors who only know of hEDS and put my life at risk by not following precautions for vEDS pts.
@Smokey Mcb bro what???

True, but it is exactly the common argument as "I will kill someone to stop them killing even more humans". In reality, a new person usually replaces them, and that whole side of the war feels more righteous & more like a victim or like their own evil is fighting evil and justified.

It is not AS fragile as those with EB, but I have constant skin infections, get sores from seams in clothing, medical adhesive rips off layers of skin, my scars rupture with just pressure, etc.

No.
I have EDS and this is a VERY severe form. Most of us don’t need around the clock care. It’s painful and I have doctors but nothing insane.

It's kinda refreshing to see that the Church's pastor was supportive of the abortion doctor.
It's not refreshing imagine your job is to serve god and you are on the side of one of the heartless sickos that destroyed hundreds of his creations
