Funnily enough, queens were once considered useless units. Now they are considered overpowered vs mech... Queens are very cost efficient, but not a guaranteed win. Terran can hunt them down with wraiths or valkyries or just emp SV. It is just that mech terran usually never bothers looking for them, weirdly enough. Also zerg who built mass queens becomes much more vulnerable for several minutes, since he invested a lot of resources and supply with no payoff yet.
Yeah, I apparently missed the memo that queens are good actually. I'm curious to see some games that show queens turning the tide and resulting in a zerg win, because my understanding is that, even if they're less expensive than a tank, they're still less efficient than other zerg units like zerglings, which can often come into melee range of tanks and cause them to do splash damage to each other. Maybe if broodlings didn't cost so much energy they would be better, but getting to cast it once every like 3 minutes seems basically useless to me.
Queens are great because they are long range snipers with almost guaranteed results. Zergling get wrecked before they reach tanks by tanks, goliaths, vultures, mines... Everything

I honestly don't think the mutas would have made him win, he didn't have enough income to build enough. Go back and look at flash's income it was insane
This game was gifted away in the early mid-game when, after shaving off 2 valks and tons of bio and having a worker lead, JD decided to dive the terran main and lost all mutas and a lot of zerglings for 1 missile turret.
11:17 More specifically, plasma shields are always ignored when they are less than 1. It basically works the way you said, but internally, the game keeps track. It also means that if you happen to reduce a unit's shields to, say, 0.8, then on the next hit, the remaining shields will get skipped and all the damage goes through to HP. 1:00 no, there is never too much flash. In fact, if you casted every game flash played, i would still want more flash games. 22:33 i will say that i've seen queen games that zerg wins, and zerg games that terran win. The ones where zerg win are almost always "get queens, cast first set of broodlings, terran dies" I didn't really think that flash was in a position where he could suddenly die because a bunch of tanks were deleted, especially by a gas-even unit that was built quite a while ago. Looks good for flash, to me, atm 23:11 i mean, 20 queens kills 20 siege tanks and then has to wait for ages! i don't think killing 20 siege tanks is gonna be enough! I think flash was constantly scanning looking for a muta switch here, which is wild to me, but it's the only thing that makes sense, as to why he built so FEW goliaths. crazy stuff. Thanks RT!
The supply can become very deceiving when there are so many queens, as you said. I was just getting confused at the volume of units for JD during the tank push and was thinking where all his shit was.
Seems that there was no window to pop 5-10 mutas at the mid+/end game since its 500-1k gas. Either cuts half of queens which would allow tank rally push without issues once he gets antiair or less ultras which would allow flash to push deeper at the moment.
Flash's confidence in performing harassment between timing pushed and timing defenses makes me more confident to harass even though I suck at it. What a inspiring player.
If there's "too much", you can just buffer them a little, do something else in between for a bit, I don't think there would be more "too much" than that.
Artosis can tell you when the gas geysers deplete, and how much gas they mine per minute. It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear flash has taken this a couple steps further and has a running gas bank in his mind for his opponent and subtracts every lurker, ultra, muta, scourge, upgrade, tech structure, or defiler from that gas bank. I'd be really surprised if he had anything near that level of understanding for minerals, since there's different patch counts, efficiencies based on worker count, across so many bases, and it's so heavily disrupted by harass... But it could technically be possible
Question for those in the know. If flash comes down with some wraiths or valkaries as well for anti air, does he win by cleaning up the queens or is there something else here? It seems like there was no anti air for the zerg either.
Any thoughts on why JD didn't see the potential of a late game muta switch? I'm trash, but I've played a bit of BW and SC2 and I know that it can be difficult to not get stuck in a particular mindset as far as overall strategy or unit composition once you've committed to a particular path. That being said, I wonder whether or not there's a mental hurdle to overcome knowing that your opponent is Flash. Even considering that JD has been Flash's greatest competitor, or perhaps especially because of that fact, knowing that you're playing against the greatest player to ever play the game has got to impact the mental aspect of the match in a big way.
Hmm idk about mutas. He didn’t have an insane economy to produce enough that quickly. And let’s face it. Flash would have goliaths in a second. Watching them play against each other is so satisfying
When the queens showed themselves, why not make a valk or two and try and at least harass them? He definitely had the money to throw and as you pointed out he had zero air attacking capabilities.
I'm loving these casts, and Flash games are very enjoyable to watch. But it's rather awkward that right now, you and SaiyanKCM and FalconPaladin all seem to be casting all the same matches.
The sheer bullheadedness from Jaedong to not make 10-12 Mutas and rolling over all those tanks is quite baffling, especially considering Zergs are the best at quickly switching and massing different unit types when needed. Sadge.
yeah, cast all the flash games. i don't know much about starcraft 1 and i'm trying to learn why he's considered so great. what makes him so much better than maru and serral? if you could make a video explaining why flash is considered so legendary, i would watch it.
Spoiler: It seems that Flash knew that queens were a possibility and that just great macro can invalidate all that supply. Yeah the queens kill a full round of tanks (JaeDong could of used the spells better) but now they got to recharge so you can just shove tanks down Zerg's throat. Seems that Flash wanted mass queen so it would waste supply. JaeDong did not need mutas to win that, he could of just mass dropped ultras and lings on top of the tank line much like how P Zealot bombs. Obviously Mutas would of done great and forced a lot more Gols.
What would it take from us, to have you make twice as many casts? I've loved getting back into watching broodwar! I'm so surprised jaedong GG'd at that timing.
end game fastest money maps terrans go for mass valk/tank always seems like its finally slipping into pro scene. wont be surprised to see it in the future.

To answer your question: More Flash!
I'm so confused as to why the tyrant went with so many queens, instead of switching back to 8-12 mutas.
Looks like Flash gets advantage just for being Flash. Jaedong didnt even try when he could have just won the game by being a bit more patient
Jaedong should've had that game. And if he can't win games like THAT, man... I want to see the Tyrant again... but, ouch.
Never too much Flash.... follow the comeback closely!
**** I need more Flash games!!
I'm loving these casts, and Flash games are very enjoyable to watch. But it's rather awkward that right now, you and SaiyanKCM and FalconPaladin all seem to be casting all the same matches.
21:20 DAMMMN THIS IS SUCH A SOLID SIEGE
The sheer bullheadedness from Jaedong to not make 10-12 Mutas and rolling over all those tanks is quite baffling, especially considering Zergs are the best at quickly switching and massing different unit types when needed. Sadge.
Seems like Jaedong was testing something
question: does defiler darkswarm also block turret, goliath and wraith aa?
I dare assert that:
9000 and 1 games of Flash cast in a month would be excessive.
Would we have any options for 4K quality in the future? does SC1 remaster support that?
yeah, cast all the flash games. i don't know much about starcraft 1 and i'm trying to learn why he's considered so great. what makes him so much better than maru and serral? if you could make a video explaining why flash is considered so legendary, i would watch it.
hahah JD just throwing all those ultras and lings into the meat grinder. like dude just make some mutas hahaha
There’s NEVER too much Flash
We NEED the Flash vs Jaedong games arty
Are you kidding me?
I am a protoss player, but you cast those TvZ's Dan. Get going and string the short ones together, thanks!
JD didn't seem to have the gas for a group of muta at the end, though. GG anyway
Spoiler:
It seems that Flash knew that queens were a possibility and that just great macro can invalidate all that supply. Yeah the queens kill a full round of tanks (JaeDong could of used the spells better)
but now they got to recharge so you can just shove tanks down Zerg's throat.
