Great traditions! Less is more. My brother and his wife only did 1 gift per child and it was not extravagant. They grew up to be very well adjusted, non materialistic adults. I was snoopy one year and found all Mom’s stashes. At Christmas, I quickly realized I had ruined the surprise for myself. Never did that again, lol.
I differently remember peaking at a gift..that my heart desired but never asked for ( jewelry box) even though I had no jewelry! was only about 8 yrs an poor now at 68yrs old I can still feel how disappointed I was in myself..felt guilty Christmas morning Troy police surprised
I love that you are honest with your kids. We never started santa and my kids - now teens - tell me they are glad we didn't do that bc it brings question to celebrating Jesus and if He is real also. At any rate, you do you - if you don't like something or think something else works best for your family, I'm glad you have found what works! Makes life easier. We spent years trying to figure out and build traditions bc growing up our families didn't actually have any traditions! We are always evolving when it comes to how to approach Christmas but definitely want Jesus to be the center and most important aspect. Thank you for sharing your ideas 🧡 Have a Merry Christmas!
I feel like living in such a wintery place makes the no Christmas tree less noticeable for kids. when you have a winter wonderland outside it seems less necessary to bring it inside lol. I live in the deep south and there are dandelions in my front yard right now so I have a Christmas tree 😆
I just use a My Amazing Cloth! I clean all of my stainless and glass with it! I sell them on my website. Here is the link: www.naturalmamaboutique.com/products/my-amazing-cloth
So cool! I don't have kids so I am unsure if I'd have the patience haha, but I love that you didn't just go out and buy one of those pre-built gingerbread houses!
Many hours of work. 😅 Basically we bought a rink liner online, framed an area with wood, then flooded it with a hose one layer at a time as soon as the weather was cold enough. We now flood it a few times each week to keep it smooth.
We have 2 sets of grandparents that send gifts, but since they have to be shipped (we don’t live near any family), they are always very reasonable. We do a big toy/stuff purge before Christmas to make room for new stuff as well.
Thank you! No… funny story. I made some two years ago and I couldn’t stand how the shape didn’t turn out quite right. So these are just storebought! Maybe some day I’ll try again. 😅

Thank you! I totally agree! Ha, I accidentally saw my gift one year and I remember being devastated. 😅

Thank you! Ha, I think those kits are fine if you don’t plan to enjoy eating it. 🤣
Hot glue is the bomb! My grandkids only ate the candies anyway from the houses.

Where did you get the round wood cutting board I see in some of your videos in the kitchen ?
I think that one is from Target.
How do you deal with gifts from outside the family?
We have 2 sets of grandparents that send gifts, but since they have to be shipped (we don’t live near any family), they are always very reasonable. We do a big toy/stuff purge before Christmas to make room for new stuff as well.
I love your Christmas stockings - do you have a pattern for them? (new subscriber)
Thank you! No… funny story. I made some two years ago and I couldn’t stand how the shape didn’t turn out quite right. So these are just storebought! Maybe some day I’ll try again. 😅
Love your recipes and traditions. It looks like a very Merry Christmas at your house! Val C ❤️🙏🏻
Where did you find the box that your wood stove sits on??
We had it custom made! ❤️
