I'm new to the planner community (didnt even know it was a thing!) and this video has been really helpful. I work at a startup business and things are ALWAYS changing. The sticky notes were such a great idea for use in the planner. I use sticky notes at work all the time, they're my go to, and never thought of keeping them in my planner. Love it!

I love that quote Kelly! It is so true! I have been using a happy planner for 2 or 3 years now and I use to always want mine to look like others but could not do that because it didn't work for me! I had to find a way to plan for me and quit worrying about if it looked as good as everyone else's and when I did that and started posting my photos on Instagram I found out that people liked mine too. They may be different but we all are different and that's how God made us! If everyone was the same and did everything the same, made everything the same then life would be very boring!

OMG! I didn't even think of using the sticky notes in my planner. I've been trying to figure that issue out and thought of using pencils instead but your idea is soooooo much better! Thank you for saving my sanity!!!

Heather, you were right. I didn't see the point in sticky notes, UNTIL this week. I sat down to do some planning and had already written in my planner so of course I was shattered coz I used a crappy pen and hadn't decorated. My whole spread went to poo coz then I had to try to cover things. Lesson learnt
I have been researching planners for about a week or so and I am SO grateful that I found your channel ... AND I just ordered my first Happy Planner!! I’m so excited!!! My goal for 2019 is to become more organized and to PLAN my life instead of letting my life plan me. I can’t wait for my planner to get here and get started on setting it up. I love your emphasis on making sure your planner is working for you. Decorating and buying all the goodies is a lot of fun but it is still a planner/calendar that should be helping keep you organized.
The Pilot Frixion erasable pen is a MUST HAVE for me. I'm not afraid of messing up in my planner because I can always erase a mistake or any changes.
I am SO PICKY about my pens and I just hate the way those write! But it's a great suggestion for people who aren't as picky as me!
Heather Kell I'll admit they write better on the slick paper of a Plum Paper Planner than they do on a HP

Thanks. I am not new to Happy Planners. I am just one of those that doesn't stick to it. I always had the classic one but this year switched to the big happy planner. Having more room to write will be a key for me to keep it up. I am determined to do it this year! I am excited to watch more of your newbie videos to get ideas to keep me planning all year.

The sticky notes is the best tip!!! This is my 3rd year of planning and the first year I’m going to use sticky notes! I ALWAYS catch myself planning ahead and then plans will change or I’ll be mad I didn’t utilize a cute sticker for it! Also when I go ahead and write a bunch of stuff, I get to that week and don’t have any room to add stuff or “plan my week” and use stickers. So this year I’ve told myself I am not allowed to write in my planner more than a week ahead unless I just use a sticky note! Lol

Oh my GOODNESS! I NEVER would have thought to put the covers on each of the sections. I was over here trying to figure out how in the world to divide my mini planner because I don't really like the mini dashboards I have. SUCH a good idea. THANK YOU HEATHER!

Thanks for the tips! I got a planner that is not much more than a calendar. I plan to remove and set aside the second six months, then add journal sheets as needed. This will keep my planner at a reasonable size.

You can also use erasable pens....love mine...and they come in so many colors!

Oh the don’t write everything immediately down is the best advice I need! I don’t like my handwriting so I’m always a bit anxious to start. And than I just stop using it. So this is perfect. I’m going to start post it’s first.

That’s why I love erasable color pens. Sticky notes are super cute but I try to avoid anything that would make my already bulky planner, bulky. Your planner looks so fun and creative!

You are so right about Dont wright into your planner first thing when getting it. I'm a newbie planner and I have learned that as I've had a few things cancelled and had to cross them out and move to another day, so putting it onto a sticky note is a very valuable lesson. TFS some great advice xx

I love how you set it up! I've added a couple of different sections to my Happy Planner before too. Just didn't work for me at the time. I had my regular weekly and monthly, a budget section, a work section, and a groceries section. 💜

Sticky notes are awesome but if you dont have sticky notes using a pencil and writing lightly could work to.

You guys in America are so lucky to have so many shops that sell sticky notes apart from the standard boring yellow post it notes with an occasional variation from our version of Michaels Joannes etc being Officeworks... They don’t sell things like this.. So off to Etsy, eBay, and Google I go... although your video is about the happy planner, I’ve just got my dream Filofax! Already using it, but with my boring sticky notes that I am trying to make interesting. Are used to be really arty, but then due to a neurological condition my hands have started to fail me. But I can still right enough to plan.. Thank God!
I have birthdays. Angel dates and school days (when off school) written in my monthly. I have never been a sticky girl but you have me wanting to try them again!

Every year... and I mean every year... I get my new planner... and go... hmmmmm... now what?
I always want to make it better, more purposeful and useable! I buy a bigillion new stickers because yep... I need those to make it work better...
2 weeks into the new planner... I revert back to just writing and mismatched stickers. I’m a stay home mom to 2 teens and I watch my granddaughter. So in reality I don’t need it for anything but a few appointments each year.
I’ve learned from you to be real... to not stress over beautification. Get in the groove... then start adding decor!
While i’m in love with so many sticker shops... I have to say I grab my Happy Planner Sticker books most often.
This year, i’m down sizing my planner line up.
I chose not to transformer plan... but i’m running 3 in one book.
Lined vertical, standard vertical and budget... then I got the Krissyanne Design Desk calendar for the wall.
My lined will be my tasks... everyone’s work schedule, appointments
The vertical will be mor memory keeping, and beautiful layouts,
Budget... yep... just that
The desk one will hang on the wall for everyone to view daily and add to it as needed!

I just bought a planner last week and I felt like this lol. Love the sticky note tip. Perfect example, I had class scheduled on Thursday, but it was moved to Friday (but I already wrote it in). Thanks for this video, it really helped me realize what all I can do with my planner.

I like the year at a glance. I'm an EC transplant and am still figuring out who I am.in a Happy Planner. (And you are at least partially tow credited with helping me make the switch)
I have one full year of Happy Planning behind me, and I still am working out what exactly works for me, even what size works for me. I LOVE these kind if videos. I really like the classic size, but it's too bulky for me at work. My locker is barely big enough for my purse. So I have been using the small size. I can keep that in my work area without making it too noticeable. DO YOU THINK I COULD MAKE A TRANSFORMER OUT OF THE MINI?? One thing I have found is decorating 2 even 3 weeks at time. I love opening my week and adding things to an already decorated page. I find I always have room for a extra sticker here or there. Please keep making more of these types of videos. GREATFUL! I’m only on my 2nd year with this happy planner. Tossed around bullet journal- yikes. I’m sold after watching more of your videos. This is a more pre packaged less black white page way to go. Now i have you to show me how to personalize it. I haven’t tried sending a thank you on you tube. Heather, I am not a sticky note girl so much... yet. However, they are sooooo helpful. I use the Frixion erasable pens, but still find sticky notes the way to go. I've just started using them more, bec after erasing a few times, it becomes difficult to write on the space, hence the sticky notes. Your videos are so helpful. I've been using planners for years, but am fairly new to Happy Planners - I think 2019 is going to be my 4th year. Each year I've progressed into more decorative planning, however, still mostly FUNCTIONAL stickers are used. I'm getting there....slowly. LOL (I used to get the day runners, bec I absolutely need(ed) them for my various jobs.) I literally just wrote in them, no frills. Happy Planners and stickers certainly make having to keep track of things more fun. Thank you for your helpful and entertaining videos. :)
