2021 BMW M5 Competition with Titanium M Performance Exhaust

- We’ve heard the M5 in its standard and Competition form before, but this has the optional Titanium M Performance Exhaust with carbon tips. It’s a $6,000 addition straight from the factory, but it transforms the M5 into the loudest BMW we've ever heard. While not as sonorous as the V10-powered E60, it’s F-Type SVR levels of loud and clearly borders on legality. Wring out first gear and let off the throttle right before the redline, and what ensues is an artillery barrage, surely to annoy and scare neighbouring cars, transporting them into a suburban war zone. All the pops and bangs on overrun that made the outgoing BMW models so emotionally enticing are still there, and the classic V8 roar is still present under acceleration. The loud pops may be a little excessive to those who are more sensitive to sharp acoustics, but you can shut it all up with a simple push of the exhaust button underneath the gear shifter. A pricey but highly recommended option. Full review up on CAR.

The fact that this exhaust is sold by BMW and not some aftermarket company is crazy! I swear the people working there are a different breed and I love it!
Yeah, straight from the factory. It's wicked.
I like the fact that BMW doesn't have the typical V8 sound, it sounds more like a racing one.
This titanium exhaust definitely makes it sound more 'race-car' like, but the standard exhaust is more of your traditional V8 noise.

Yes I just realized we haven't done an M550i yet. They're very similar to the M50i models throughout their lineup, like the X7 M50i and X6 M50i that we have up on our channel. Once we get our hands on one, we will record it for you though! Thanks for watching.

M Performance is more than enough. Slightly cheaper too I believe.

Not sure about 2022, but it was available in our 2021 test vehicle. Located in Toronto.

The M5 is definitely louder, I can tell you that. More pops and bangs on throttle overrun with the BMW as well.

@@CanadianAutoReview no idea. Probably due to EU emissions regulations/partuliclate filter more so to do with noise.
Might be other ways of getting it and installing it..but apparently MOT won't pass, also its illegal, and the BMW will have warning lights as it would detect the difference in exhaust emissions or some thing...so it goes into limp mode. ECU can't be tricked either..yet.
So stupid considering UK isn't even in the EU but we still have to follow this bs

With the titanium exhaust does it sound pretty loud inside the cabin? Or louder with that exhaust inside the cabin? Badass fuckin car and sound I love it
Honestly? It's loud EVERYWHERE. Doesn't matter if you're inside or out. Will be overkill for most, but just right for some.
Would F92/93 sound similar to this if equipped with M Perf Exhaust?

Will this get old overtime? 5-6 hour road trip or daily driven. Does it still have the valves to close it?
Oh definitely it will get annoying after a while. You can shut it up by closing the exhaust but it's still loud every time you press the gas pedal, or start it up. Cold starts will wake up the whole neighbourhood.
Is this “titanium” what you get when you spec it with the M Performance Exhaust, ORG $7330???

@@intellect4840 M performance is much louder and you lose the ability to open and close flaps. The car will be much louder in comfort mode.

Stock! The titanium exhaust is OEM from the factory.

It's not an option and I am next on the allocation to order my 2022 M5 Comp. Doesn't look we can have it done by factory on my order.
What market / where are you located? This is a Canadian spec '21 model.
It is available, along with all of the carbon fiber accessories that were available for the 21's. Your SA should be able to log on to whatever site they use to look at all available options (which right now lists a whole lot more than what we see because BMW cannot get its act together updating its site). Going through this right now, and the MPE is absolutely available.

as a 54 year old wanting an M5 if it sounded like this I would be upset to be honest.. i drove one with the standard exhaust and thats more for me i think.. Not interested in being a boy racer "hey look at me everyone" type. A little popping etc is ok but this is over the top.
Then don't option the titanium exhaust. Problem solved!

BMW has one of the most wack steering wheel tho, look like a $20,000 car's interior.
I don't think it's that bad. Very functional and ergonomic, though definitely not as glamorous or as dramatic as the new Mercedes interiors.
I’d get the pro M performance wheel. Carbon fiber/Alcantara trim with carbon fiber shift paddles. Adds that little extra something special. For about 2k USD
I preferred the previous one tbh.
