Thanks for the company Margaret 🤗 Your Winterfell sweater is stunning and I'm absolutely adding it to my queue! Sorry to hear about all the hardships you've faced lately in your knitting but as frustrating as they may be, it's always great to keep on learning 😊 Best of luck with your move ❤
So nice to come home to such a lovely message. Thank you so much. I love my Vjinterfell and I have even considered making another one but there are so many other things to knit! My yarn from Holst came today so it looks like my Sorrel sweater has some hope yet. Best wishes Nikki!🥰
I am knitting on my problematic Weekender Crew jumper while watching you show your wips with issues 😂 It is always lovely to catch up with you Margaret 😊
Knitting does have its hiccups along the way! Well done on tackling brioche ... it does eventually all make sense, once you figure out the "reading" . Unravelling sounds interesting, thanks for that suggestion; I will look for it.
Unravelling was a great read but now I'm trying to find myself something else to get my teeth into. I really wanted to learn the basics of two colour brioche as so many great shawls seem to have brioche sections in them. Hopefully I will be able to dig deeper into the brioche rabbit hole soon.
So fun to catch up with you Margaret!! Your Sorel is stunning!!! And I feel I have had lots of little hicups with lots of my projects too. Maybe it's something in the air.. lol. It's always a little heart breaking but once I get fixed up, it's so gratifying to know that I won the battle 😂. So don't give up! Cheers!💕
Thanks for the encouragement. I haven't given up yet despite the frustrations. I know in the end I will love my projects when I get them just right. Best wishes and thank you for watching!
The same thing happened with my latest Sorrel where I faded the mohair. That green was just too contrasting with my natural yarn, so I unraveled and used a lighter one ❤ Best wishes for your moving !
You are most welcome! I have really enjoyed watching your sock madness progress. It is a small world isn't it? Ottawa is my home town and I do love it. Wish you were still there so we could have a knitting meetup!
Hi! I normally knit just one thing at a time so I don't have any issues with what to knit on when. (I do have a project that I leave in the car.) I have been watching Karen for a while now and her socks are awesome!
I wish I was more of a one project at a time girl but I am using this plan to really finish up many projects and hopefully narrow it down to just a couple. Karen is the best sock knitter!
Thanks for another enjoyable episode. That's exactly how I knit my sock toes because they fit my feet really well. Good luck with all of your packing and moving preparation--I'm sure the next two months will just fly by!
Thank you for your time and wonderful video. I look forward to your future adventure. I find myself retired due to health, but didn’t plan on being here 😂. I didn’t know who I would be, and I am doing some of the things I didn’t have time for before. It’s taken time to adjust but it’s wonderful and I wish the same for you ❤
Thank you for your lovely comment. I have had moments of panic wondering if retirement will be the right thing and everything I'm hoping for. 34 years of teaching is a long time but I know it so well that it is hard to move towards a new path. I agree that it will take time to adjust. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your increased personal time even though it came as a surprise. Best wishes and I hope you are finding lots of time for crafting.
I enjoy listening to you very much! That’s a shame with the I - cord edging, it’s a pattern I would like to cast on soon . I’ve used slip stitch under the ball of my foot for quite awhile as that’s where I wear through first . I have even done a few short rows after completing the slip stitch as my toe seems to push on the top of the toe otherwise and wear through ! Thanks for the recommendations too .
Thank you Ann! I questioned the i-cord before I even started it and I should have listened to my gut. It will be worth fixing as I won't wear the tee the way it is right now. I think I will start doing the slip stitches under the ball of my foot with my next pair of socks too. I really like the idea of how this would feel. Best wishes and happy knitting!
Lovely knits! I love the look of the rocket tee bind off, it’s too bad it’s not working out. I’m looking forward to seeing how you solve that! Congratulations on your retirement. And Thanks for the shout out for Karen’s podcast. I have been participating in sock madness and I’m looking forward to seeing a podcast from someone who is also participating.
I hope you'll be able to work at the library once you move to the Ottawa area. I had worked as a librarian in Elgin County before moving to Ottawa. It was the BEST job! Here's a book recommendation: Unravelling Canada, by Sylvia Olsen.
It is so good the hear that working in a library is as wonderful as I think it is. I have read Unravelling Canada and I thought it was just wonderful. In my search for all books that involve knitting I have been reading a series by Debbie Macomber that revolves around a yarn store. It is perfect for a busy time like I'm experiencing right now. Thanks so much for watching!
Your Vinterjell is stunning! Interesting about how the I-cord at the bottom edge affects the drape; definitely better to fix it than let it be. I have to admit I was wondering about that dark purple when you first mentioned it for the fade; I'm glad you are switching it out. I will check out Karen Knits. May spring come to your area soon!
I have heard since I did the podcast that if you knit the i-cord from the wrong side it works much better. I'm still going to rip back and do a folded hem though. My new yarn for the Sorrel arrived Friday and it is working very well (thank goodness!). The sun is shining today so I think spring is planning on arriving this coming week. I will be sad to put away my sweaters though. lol. Thank you so much for watching!
@@mywonderfulknittinglife Yes, I have worked I-cord from the reverse and it is better. Also, Patty Lyons has a good tip in this video: th-cam.com/video/Pzgo4Zx8D6U/w-d-xo.html
So good to know I am not alone. I thought maybe it was me and that I had knit the i-cord too tight. I have since heard many other people in a knitting group that they had similar issues. I have yet to rip it back and sort it out but it is on the to do list! I hope you were able to find a solution to yours. Best wishes!
thank you for sharing with us ☺

Smaller needles - great insights here.
Experimenting with my sock tools and recipe has really helped me find the perfect fit 🥰

Thank you! I'm getting there with moving preparations. It won't be long now!
Thank you so much for the shout out ♥ I lived in Ottawa for six years while going to grad school - love that city ♥

Can we send you our knitting challenges to see if you can help? It would be great to see you problem-solve.
I would love to if I wasn't already bogged down with my own woes. Thanks for watching!

The problem l had with the ROCK IT TEE was binding off the I cord. I didn’t like the way it looked!
