Is there a way to do this in just max? I don't have live for max or If I do and it did come with it I thought I had to "buy" live in ableton to use that live part ,.. I spend money the $10 a month for max since september and just now doing the synth designing --- there is so dag much I am still over my head with information on how to make Max 8 work more me.. I do lots of new videos with older video mixes or alter my cam into my laptop,.. these audio sets seem that live is necessary?

Hi William - yes, amxd devices can be loaded directly into max without using ableton. Here is a demo video from C'74: th-cam.com/video/6ZzfEfs2Tgs/w-d-xo.html
If you already own ableton, I think you can crossgrade for $99.

Otherwise, max for live comes with the ableton suite.

@@xlfph OMG I am far enough along in Max to get what that linked video means.. I have from the start wanted to incorporate the vst3 midi plugin for my supernova II from novation the synth I have been playing since 2000 and yeah I see the plugin in that section of the max program but not really having any idea what to do with it. wow big thanks for that link to the video ,.. and thanks for answering my question on ableton live.. some point I will save for that if I even have space on this laptop for the program mmmm I probably have space here. ,.. excellent.

Nice. Are there any good Max tutorials that are arranged for beginner up. I see a few that are very old and some that have no structure.

There are many options, depending on what you want to do. For something very systematic, from the ground up, I really like the "20 Objects" tutorials by Darwin Grosse darwingrosse.com/20Objects/. The tutorials that come with Max are also really well organized.
