I'm really intrigued by these. I definitely prefer to use ableton stock or M4L plugins as opposed to 3rd party stuff, mostly just because its all easily tweakable and has visible reference from the device view and without having to open the plugin's GUI.
Another reason to prefer stock/max devices is because you can transfer your projects to any computer without worrying about having to install plugins. Back when MacOS moved to 64 bit, all bunch of my VST plugins no longer work.
Pro L2 is a magnitude more versatile with different algorithms and a cleaner sound to get your final mastering loudness on point, Color Limiter is more useful to add color and limiting at the same time, kind of a tape or vintageizer on steroids, useful for mixing and production.
You talk up Elphnt, then say he’s crazy for charging 20 for a plugin, you steal his idea and offer it “free” for joining your Patreon and paying you 5 bucks. Yeah, that’s trash, man…
I believe we have differing opinions :) I think Elphnt is wonderful, they provide lots of helpful content - separately, I have an opinion that creating a bunch of randomisers for £20 is mental. For instance “I love Jay-Z but his Kingdom Come album isn’t for me!” That’s fair to have an opinion, no? So considering randomisers are built into Ableton and nobody’s idea I made something SIMILAR with different devices. If you bought Elphnts devices (I actually did) then downloaded mine for free (yes they’re actually free) you’d notice his are only assigned to drift for all 4 instruments and mine are assigned to different instruments, creating more variation depending on what you need. Finally, if someone were to decide to sign up, even at the lowest tier, you get 2 bonus instruments for that post (not randomisers) plus access to 200 other devices and tools… I’m struggling to understand what’s trash?
And on top of what Will said, for how much I enjoy and love Elphnt, his collection of devices are just wrappers to provide a Live friendly GUI to plugins made by Chris from Airwindows... So, no new stuff here, and it's fine, can't understand the trash thing either.
Nice roundup!! Fingers crossed we get some in the line up next time…

I totally agree, keeps your CPU down but in general it just looks neater (appeases the OCD 😂)

Pro L2 or color limiter folks?
