    Had the X-maxx for quite a while, but only thought about replacing the motor fans now...
    Stupid of me because they have been making that noise probably after the first drive, luckily not as bad as in your video 😅 but still annoying enough.
    When the car started making that noise I found out pretty quickly that it came from the motor fans, and I just removed the broken fan pieces and reassembled the stuff back together. 🤣
    It did surprise me that I've never had temperature issues though.
    Gonna order these right now and I'll let you know if they hold up 💪

    Thanks for the information. But no one ever talks about the heat transfer rate between the motor and heat sink. I've taken off the heat sink and found lots of dust on the motor between the heat sink and motor casing. That tells me that the heat sink is not in contact with the motor casing everywhere. In fact not much at all. To help a lot use a heat transfer past or anything that can handle high temps and remains in a liquid state. I like but extremely messy is Permatex Anti Seize paste. It's not designed for a heat sink transfer paste but it works great. It fills in all those gaps of air between the motor and heat sink. Anywhere there is air you have a heat insulator and that's the opposite of what you want. If you have great fans you might as well take advantage of them and get the heat from the motor into the heat sink where the fans can do their job.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally get what you are saying, and likley would be more important in a speed run car where there is a lot of heat generated and also trying to get the very last inch out of the motor.
      When it comes to bashing cars the abuse that take means that the heat sink does move around, however it is still in contact enough to transfer heat to is, in all our rigs when i check temps the heat stink is pretty much the same heat as the motor.
      If you are pushing the motor in a bash rig to the point you would need heat transfer past i would say the rig as way over geared

Are these fans able to go that slow and still be within the normal working voltage range of the motor? • @HardcoreRC

      Not that im aware of, although would work well with a Traxxas ESC as they are set by default as 100% throttle in reverse, not something you really want 😂 you can change it but that means spending more money on the bluetooth module, far better to just rip the stock ESC out and put a Max6 in

    $18 each is a little pricey. The stock are $2 each. You can get a 3D printed 2x40mm fan mount and 2x40mm turbo fans for $30-40.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stock fans are junk though, same as the fans that come in pretty much all RC's big jumps and they are toast, our stock fans broke on the very first outing. 3D printed stuff never lasts if under and impact strain and just dont see it holding out with the weight of two 40x40x28 fans with big jumps unless made with minimal infill or TPU. Have run the 25mm and 30mm version of these fans on all our other trucks and had none break, so worth the cost in my opinion

    • @mesodan
      @mesodan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HardcoreRC If you use enough infill you’ll be fine. Another option is a 60mm turbo fan. About the same width as the chassis rails so you can attach it directly to the rails and without a housing.

      @@HardcoreRC - "3D printed stuff never lasts if under and impact strain" , that definitely tells me you are lacking some insight into this subject. I am literally running 3D printed towers (100% infill) on my Talion, because the stock aluminium ones bend way too easy. Also my indestructible Kraton 6S EXB wing mount is 3D-printed, and used by loads of people. I even know people running things like Kraton 8S shock rodends made by PLA+, but that is taking a hell of a beating. Definitely do not underestimate 3D-printing - especially if you have no knowledge about what it can do.
