This is actually common with AIs up till Brawl; they do not defend themselves well vs. Edge guarders
Sakurai was probably like “well they already got the edgegaurd might as well give it to them”
@@corvax8644 Sakurai hates the concept of edgeguarding, hence why he made everyone's recoveries so OP in future games and added ledge-trumping. Can't let anyone have any fun competitively!

I think its like that in some other games too, lv 9 cpu just dont taunt for some reason

They taunt after landing a smash attack/aerial attack way before the actual kill percent of that attack. Its hilarious.

The same goes for Ultimate, in level 5 they are starting to do all the moves really fast, in level 7 they are constant, but in level 9 is absolute hell

@@Rustycube88 in my case, it happened too frequent on the WiiU version. Once I tried to grab Mewtwo, he dodge 8 times in a row and then grabbed me 5 times

Pretty much any fighting game has CPUs that read your inputs, but 4 and Ultimate do it excessively on the higher AI levels
The real question is why he has less stocks then the cpu sometimes

Gotta love how even the ships in the background of Sector Z were even getting tired of Link's failed attempts to get back to Kirby.
It makes it almost looks like the shooting was meant to help him get over.
You forgot to include that CPU's completely forget about you in the middle of a fight once an item appears, and are like 'cya!' while slowly walking towards it....

I'm surprised you didn't cover Link pulling out bombs just to throw them down, or how most characters tend to disregard the twisters on Hyrule Castle and walk right into them.

(4:25) That is the "only using the recovery once" rule they're following. The programmer might have intentionally made them only use it once, because you can only use it once ... forgetting you can gain it back.

Kirby is solid and underrated in Ultimate because he does well against quite a few top tiers in ultimate (something low and even high tiers don’t have the luxury getting)

Phew! AI has come a long way. Edgeguarding a level-9 CPU makes it look like level 1. Of coarse when Smash 64 was new, no one really knew what edge guarding was. So, it only makes sense.

I know how this feels kinda, in super smash flash 2, when I play against lvl 9 CPU’s in a free for all in a big stage, they tend to just jump and double jump and repeat until someone gets near them
Well the thing is that's a flash game so there isn't much to work with

And i remember the older versions having better CPU systems.i mean they did all those hard desgins , colorfull stages and musics but they couldnt do what they could do easily in the past? To be fair, getting out of the right side of sector Z pushes Link's recovery to the limit

I honestly surprised, because after 5 years of playing Smash
64 I didn’t witnessed almost any of these flaws, except Saffron SD and the recovery denial.

Its crazy how many of these issues made their way into Melee
You missed one. Load three level 9 Links. Go to Hyrule Castle and crouch against the small wall on the left side of the stage. The Links will have a tendency of walking up to that edge right above you and then using their Up B, flying over you and off the stage.

I have witnessed all of these occur on my own and can tell you 2 things:
I wasn't trying to get these to happen, but seeing you exploit them to no end was funny
The pikachu SD happens more often and in way more scenarios than you think, like fox upb but with tight spaces only Also, it says melee in the BROWSE GAME tag

Another thing with the AI that isn't bad but, super weird is that sometimes if you are on a platform above Yoshi, Yoshi will double jump cancel(DJC) like crazy repeatedly until you do something.

As someone who has played every _Smash Bros._ game, I'm fairly certain that attribute is in every game in the series.
I’d imagine it’s far more prevalent in a game like Melee
Never stopped playing smash 64 and oh god this is all just too accurate.
Same thing happens with Nes on the DK jungle map on Melee. The one with the river below it. You just stand still, Nes tries to jump over to you with a double jump and perfectly falls down. That's how we farmed for all the fighters with no effort as we lost the file. One life only, standing still against Nes.

Cpu tends to roll behind you when they are close in front of you. If you turn around afterwards they will roll in the opposite direction to appear behind you again. You can make them roll forever if you repeat this.

Kirby ignores that gravity still works on slopes.
Can't use recoveries very well and they give up on hit.
Tries to do perfect shields.
Spamming attacks will work even if they hit air.
Walls do not exist often.
An up B isn't necessary to get higher.
Fox and ness: The same angle works for every angle.
Apparently,foxes can't see lower blast lines.
Cp.f:If the up B succeed,it won't necessary another one.
The center must have an invisible platform.
How to look pro to your friends
I used that Pikachu SD all the time in singleplayer mode as a kid XD

You have to remember with smash 64’s large amount of hit-stun some CPU opponents may not even try to recover a second time because by the time the hit-stun wear off they may have fallen too far to make it back to the ledge.
yoshi repeatedly jumps cancelling on the rightside of the left platform on dreamland. you have to be standing underneath the platform.
The AI might have been a raging dumpster fire, but it's my raging dumpster fire and I love it to bits.
I never used level 9 AI’s as a kid because I thought they were overly reckless. Vindicated!!
