I hate it people diss actors in shows like are you professionals NO are you the director NO are you special people who come and see if the show is good and put it in the newspaper NO!!! Paulette in this was amazing and maybe she isn’t as good as the proper part but she still rocks it and if your a professional actor you still wouldn’t diss people it is difficult to go on stage in front of hundreds of people as an understudy and perform it as good as good as the other person did and its same for every one else
I know the original actors for Kyle and Paulette were actually married so maybe that helped for their chemistry idk. But I don’t understand peoples problems. It’s literally always this community that is really toxic and picky about actors, I haven’t seen as many people on other shows such as Hamilton or Wicked get this angry just because actors have understudies or they have to leave and someone else plays the character. People were also toxic and complained because LBB left but you don’t see people getting toxic because Lin Manuel Miranda doesn’t play Hamilton or because Idina and Kristin aren’t playing Glinda and Elphaba anymore/
People, THERES UNDERSTUDIES, SWINGS, AND A WHOLE TEAM THAT GOES INTO IT!! if you don’t like her, great that’s your opinion, but at least a no offence would be nice or a disclaimer. Cause people miss read stuff all the time!
People need to chill about understudies, I’ve found this mostly on the Legally Blonde community, for some reason y’all hate on people who aren’t Laura Bell Bundy or any of the OG cast. Like I’ve never seen so many people so picky about a cast, lol. Like I’ve never seen people be this picky or toxic on other musicals such as Hamilton or Beetlejuice.
Agreed; I was so excited to see a the personality of Paulette portrayed by a black woman. I wasn’t expecting it to be a cookie cutter performance. I was ready for her to make it her own. But to me, her performance lacked any sort of spark. Her voice was flat, her movements were small, awkward, and minimized. She sounded bored with the scene. Perhaps she was exhausted…I would certainly believe it…. But still I was bummed.
Come on! They did a re-cast of Paulette too? Orfeh was queen and they didn't need to switch her out. This one lacked so much energy. Orfeh was SO MUCH BETTER (get it).
Oh my gosh holy disappointment! The Kyle and Paulette were just NOT feelin it at all. Seriously I know they're not the originals but they can at least try a LOT harder.

Typical on Broadway, her contract ended and she chose not to renew. People move on from one project to another.
