White Petrolatum qs ad 30 g
Procedure
1.Weigh Zinc oxide, Starch, and White Petrolatum.
2.Transfer the Zinc Oxide to a mortar, add the Starch slowly and mix with pestle. Triturate the Starch into the Zinc Oxide powder until they form an evenly mixed fine powder.
3.Transfer the powder at one corner of a glass tile.
4.Place the White Petrolatum in the middle of the tile.
5.Incorporate the powder into the White Petrolatum in small portions using metal spatula.
6.Spread, triturate and mix well after each addition of the powder. Incorporate all the powder.
7.Spread the paste on the glass tile with the spatula and mix well until a smooth homogeneous product is formed. (The preparation is thick. Do not shy to work on the entire glass tile. Spreading and mixing with a spatula greatly improves the product)
8.Pack the paste into an appropriate jar. Label and dispense.

why do you have to add starch? Zinc oxide makes a good paste with water by itself!
