- I'm installing the freshly painted dash into the 1948 Pontiac Streamliner with a little help from my oldest, Abbie. We're still a little unsure where a lot of the parts go so a little help would be appreciated! I hope y'all enjoy what little progress we've made so far!

P.s. We are always looking forward to your 🎬 new videos - (Thank you 🙏🏻 for filming them) …..
Good luck in your new endeavors ✅…..

Even though the dash wasn't complete you did pretty good. I am 73 and when I grew up we had a 1950 olds rocket 88. Helped my dad rebuild the top end of that engine when I was 8 yrs old. But it had a similar dash to yours but was not as full of parts. Yours must be a deluxe model for the time. I still do have an oldsmobile brochure and small books shows options. I will see if I can find a dash that's familiar.
You were right, the windshield wiper button was on top of dash between windows. But I would not use the vacuum system. When you accelerated wipers would stop. Climbing a hill in the rain? No wipers. Go with electric motor. I did on my ‘56 Ford. Happy.
That long lever that goes under the dash to left of radio, you were kidding weren’t you that you didn’t know what it was? Most cars of that era had one. When you push down, a cowel vent pops up. Has a screen on it to stop bugs, etc. Very effective. But the first time you open it when shut for years, all kinds of surprises hit your face. How do I know? Ask my 1948 F1 Ford PU.
😅 I had no idea
BTW, my 57 Chevy had the same shape of hole on the glove box. It was a button with a finger hook as the trim. You might be able to find it off another car. I love the shape of that body. Is all the metal work down low. I agree with your assessment of roads. I recently moved back to upstate NY and the roads are worse then anywhere ive ever lived and ice lived on a dirt road. I dont think they have paved anything since i joined the Army in 92
A key, cylinder, and latch /striker is gonna cost $29 from California Pontiac Restoration. I'll probably order it but hold off for other parts I'll need to save on shipping
I believe the ash tray was under the radio.
your welcome bro
I found the brochure of the olds but no all the gauges were integrated in to the speedometer it had a whole bunch of switches though.
Once again two of my fellow young vintage car fans and others said "waaah the collector market for these cars are dying" all dumb if I may say also great video you two did great nice project car.
Appreciate it. I ignore 'the market' and just enough old cars
@@route40rust Glade you do.
It should work just fine as long as you don't let the magic blue smoke out of it.
No need to fret, I'm a professional smoke tamer
Let me see. To the right of the ignition switch was the cigarette lighter. Far left was light switch. So you are right about those. I think the light switch stuck out a lot, had a big chrome piece, long, on the dash. Don’t hold me to that.
No Comment’s - Great 👍 Job …..

You're right! Daaaaang I should have figured that out! Thanks!!!! 👍
I would like to help answer your questions on the dash but I was 15 in 1960 when my dad gave the car to me. That was a minute or two ago.
That handle under the dash goes to your hood vent
Appreciate it! Gonna get it hooked up tonight
Cowel vent. Was not on hood. Between windows and hood. Not to be too picky.
Ok the only vent lol@@sleb99
I think some purcussive engineering would have got that radio in easier. Just hope you dont have any other issues with thermal disassembly.
Thermal disassembly is my passion
I have a photo or two that may help you with your dash questions but I don’t see any way to post them on here. Do you know?
Be careful when working on those old vehicles please. I’m working on a 97 year-old car. Two stands and a pneumatic jack under it. Wheels off rear. Nothing but iron hubs. Friday fell on arm, penned down, no one knew where I was. Trapped. Didn’t have enough travel space to use jack. Sitting on wrist cut off circulation. Pain increased. Not time to call for help and wait. Urgent. Said, “well, Jesus, I need help and I really need it now please.” Then it occurred to me to curl up under and push up with my legs. I actually lifted the car with my 79-year-old body and got my arm out! ER X-rays said no broken bones! How could a car fall on you, an iron hub strike your arm and mash you to a cement floor, and not break your arm? I’ve been praising God ever since. Even when I do something stupid, God still cares.
The clock did not work in 1960. Nuf said.
You're going to compare the penny pinching minimalist tech in a vintage car to to the "money is no object" technology worked out by the world's best scientists and technologists of the 60's to relate that to the moon landings ?
I'd buy you beer, but you tell me the US didn't go to the moon, I'll take that beer back out of your hand.
And for anyone who's going to hate on me for saying so...just kidding folks, tongue in cheek.
But we DID go to the moon.
I'd never say that we've never been to the moon based off a 1948 Radio. I would say that we've never been to the moon because the best engineers in the world couldn't figure out intermittent windshield wipers in the mid 1960's!!!! Kidding aside, it's all satire
